This is strange...

I'm trying to use 2 'regular' computer PSs  (both Seasonic) - one for the mobo and one for all other peripheral devices. I can power the whole PC from either PS no problem, i.e both PSs work fine. But when I connect the mobo to one PS and the peripheral devices to the other PS, the peripheral devices remain totally dead and are not detected. If I swap the two PSs, I get the same result! So it seems a 'regular' computer PS will simply remain dormant unless it detects a mobo.

Weird. Anyone know why this should be?

Mani.

Mani hi,

Coen was close in his reply - when ATX PSU is not connected to MBD it needs pin#14 (PS_ON, green wire)
to be short connected (shorted) to COM (any black wire) order to power up. See here and here.

Hi Russ,

Glad it helped solving your puzzle Happy

Peter,  drinks

Hope log files will help a bit. A/m message poped out first time I started freshly installed/activated XXHE.
Unattended mode purpously, order to observe changes ref missing coverart. Have not experienced coverart missing earlier.
So,
Loaded just one WAV file. Same file was used for initial XXHE installation. While file was playing and w/ black
screen iof coverart I just hit Alt+S. At that moment unusual window and XXHE termination state showed and a/m error.
Made PrintScreeen before dismissing message. Could not capture second error message. Ok, description and settings:

z5  : all OK ref coverart display & vol change @ unattended. OS used W7SP1
z5-2: first version where "Something wrong with remote command" dialog poped up even I make pause 2-3 secs . OS used W7SP1
z6  : installed and run on 'Vanilla W7' only
---
Folder structure is standard one
C:/XXHighEnd/XXHEversion#xx  (presently only #z6 folder created)
C:/XXData
C:/XXGallery
C:/XXIntermed
Music on second HDD
E:/MUSIC/Author [year] - AlbumName/file 01 02 ... structure. 'Folder.jpg' - same dir as files
---
OS: Vanilla W7, no 3rd party drivers except Juli@ sndcrd drivers
XXHE settings*:
KS; eng#4; Special; DevBuf 512; Sch-3; BlwNrm; High; Clock 10ms; DAC24/384; isPhasure; DecodeHDCD;
ShowAsWallpaper; ShowBack; ShowMirrorBack; StopDesktop; StopRemainSvc; StopWasapi; SFS 120; SC; InclGarbage
ToolTips; LogActivities; Q1 512; Q2-3-4 0; Unattended
---
*Not claiming above settings 'best sounding' - goal was testing coverart behavior @ unattended.
169  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: 0.90z-6 and coverart display issue on: September 13, 2011, 01:24:20 pm
Hi Peter,

Another coverart issue with my machine, plus more important: volume level problem @ unattended.

- At unattended, screen remains black, no coverart/wallpaper during first track. When player jumps
to second and further tracks wallpaper is generated ok.

- Not able to change volume up or down @ unattended >>> wallpaper not changing/showing correct dB level.

It started with z5-2 now same with z6. I thought it was 'minor bug' not bothered to report. It shows
the same with W7SP1 or 'Vanilla' W7. Now I use W7RTMx64ULT. First install did yesterday, today repeated it,
with full HDD format to avoid any 'old configuration file'. And today managed to get full error message
while before there was only 'OK' confirmation dialog saying "Something is wrong at remote command".
After clicking first message there was another: "Proper initialization FAILED, so further errors will occur"

BTW, volume error exist no matter XXHE settings or SFS value/type.

Thks in adv,
Brgds

170  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: Windows W7 SP1 RC runs to its end ... on: August 31, 2011, 02:17:09 pm
Hi Peter,
I'm not PC expert however I installed / tried several W7 vesions on XXHE dedicated PC. I'm a bit confused why
you perform OS uninstall? Each new installation will create "Windows" folder/directory and old one will remain
as "Windows.old" With several installs you would have "Windows.old", "Windows.old01" and so on. XXHE related
folders (AutoHK as well) remain, OCX files need re-install.

You can delete ".old" folder(s) anytime.

Re SP1 RC ending, perhaps you could try SP1 RC workaround - similar to original W7 RC, where updates were disabled.
This is described at How-To Geek web site:  There is 'cversion.ini'  file on W7 install DVD.  Copy entire DVD to HDD
and edit 'cversion.ini' to read MinClient version number lesser or same with MinServer version. My W7SP1x64U 'cversion.ini'
reads the same version, "7601". After editing, install OS directly from HDD, or burn new DVD if you like. I dont have SP1 RC
to try it here, sorry. HTH

Is it true for you both that you didn't ask for OSD Time and Text ?
True for me. Saving resources  Happy

Hi Peter,
Re: No wallpaper y9_7 & y9_8
Same with me, no wallpaper 'till 2nd track, sometimes even longer.
BTW, switched back to W7Ux64. Running LineOut to pre/power - this enables me 24/192 dac and Quad/AP or AI ..
Here are the log files, hope this helps. Seems there is "ChangeWP call" however "second" afer some minutes. Log files will tell more.

If this helps: MoBo w/ integrated graphics G31 & 2x1GB RAM

Can this be because you skipped the dot-net install stuff (needed for XP) ? ...
Yes, and Googling helps as well... blush1

Thank you!

Hello all, hello Peter. My first post.
Have built dedicated PC similar to fzman (E7400/mATX mobo/1&2GB RAM) - rest of the system in signature.
Wanted to try XXHE with WinXP SP2 - no success. Getting error message:
"The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000135). Click OK to terminate the application"
This happens with 2 different mobo's (although very similar, G31 chipset, integrated graphics).
On my other machine (XP SP2 as well, non integrated graphics) XXHE starts w/out complaints.

Any clue?

Thks, George

PS: XXHE -y6 & -y7
