61  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: Not enough space in Playback Drive... on: November 27, 2015, 12:18:02 pm
Hi Peter,

The only recognizable trace in your questions would be: I use exFAT formating (since this was in (me thinks) in your very short bat script)
All other remains original, perhaps just change Time Zone and run further to installation of NOS1 drivers, SW needed and XXHE of course.
So, exFAT as disk format, yes.
62  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Not enough space in Playback Drive... on: November 27, 2015, 11:56:56 am
Hi,

Peter knows already from previous XXHE version(s) and with 2.03 this 'problem' is wider: Whenever I have a file name containing diacritic character
like "ñ" or "ö", perhaps several others and with some characters from local language (Serbian Latin - previously was one character only, now few others)
I get the message "Not enough space on Playback Drive". Playback drive is ImDisk RAM disk of course. Tried to install different ImDisk version, same again.
I'm always installing standard, US language, US keyboard Windows, be it W7-W8-W10. Is anyone else having this playback error?

After clicking away above error message, clicking on next or any other song in playlist, I get another one (both pic attached hblw)

Clicking on PayPal normally brings iExplorer - no problem here.
And I will take care of M$ "Edge" personally... whistle

The change was attempted before installing XXHE - that is correct. However, right now 2.03 is playing and still there is a message
"To change your settings go to Settings>System>Default apps" when clicking on "Set Assoc" in iExplore.
I did set association to iExplore and system shows default app for Web: iExplore.

Hi Peter,

I just installed 10586.0 and tried to follow instructions on iExplorer. It is so that W10 won't let you "Set Associations"
in iExplore but forces you to use "Settings > System > Default Apps" and only there change internet settings to iExplorer.
66  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: Prevent W10 Windows Updates (10074) on: November 20, 2015, 11:01:00 am
I was to write elsewhere however this is good place as well:
There's small script (bat file) on MDL site called "Windows 10 Toggle Tweaker" presently at ver. 2.8 that efficiently stops
Win Updates, removes Cortana, Project Spartan, OneDisk etc. and does not interfere with Peter's OS optimization.

I'm playing with W10074 at the moment and can say it sounds fantastic - with XXHE 2.03 of course.
As someone said (think Joachim) I'm moved from 20th (Win8) to 1st raw now.

However, I have some issues and am not quite confident on staying with 10074:
- NOS1 driver keeps toggling sampling freq. and shows FIFO and other comm errors.
- Restarting PC brings loud PLOP in speakers
- Creating Restore Point while going to MinOS not possible, XXHE reports 'No Virtual Disk Service running' or similar message

Good!
Only today I (re)formated C partition on 'MusicPC', re-connected DVD drive, pulled out W10074 & W10565 DVD's
and now prepared for tossing the coin, ahm, those two DVD discs ... Happy

One more scratch for today...
Peter, are you suggesting we should stay with W8 and wait XXHE 2.03 or ?
69  Ultimate Audio Playback / Your thoughts about the Sound Quality / Re: SQ Of Preview 10565 on: November 15, 2015, 11:28:43 pm
Your opening post is mentioning 10586 and it is repeated 3 times - that's why scratching stands.
Now it is more clear that you installed and reporting about 10565, as in topic heading.

George

Khm,

Joachim, what version did you install & now reporting on?
- 10565 is "Insider Preview" and you mention it in topic heading. 10565 will expire Jun or July 2016.
- 10586 (aka 10586.3) is final & officially released ISO now re-numbered as "10511".

Thanks,
George

Hi Michael,

Did you try entering IP address IOF Win10 (your audio PC) computer name (followed by user name & pwd) ?
Perhaps this tutorial helps a bit: http://computers.tutsplus.com/tutorials/how-to-set-up-an-smb-server-in-os-x-and-windows-8--mac-46276

Better not look for 10074 replacement, rather look how to keep it 'Going Strong'.

W10 & privacy? That word is not known to Cortana ...

73  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd PC / Re: XXHighEnd PC with Windows 10 from RAM on: July 28, 2015, 01:26:56 pm
Hi Peter,

Thanks for above, and it relates to further thinking:
My audio PC is not connected to internet ever and contains only OS HDD. Music library is on 2nd PC and the two are connected via wired LAN  - Gbit LAN Card @ 2nd PC, 'Library' or 'Storage' PC.
If we change date to say 2012 @ Music PC or 'Host PC' and we know XXHE writes some info in each album played - what will be the date of that file, 2012 or real date?
Looking at year designation only, not time, time varies due to 'Time Zone' settings - correctly adjusted to local zone or not.

Thanks,
George

The message(s) during RDC set-up (W8, have not played with W10 yet) say that time settings between 2 PC's are
very important for establishing RDC. Can someone with W10 and 2nd PC for RDC check this pls?

75  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: Win10 RDC Does Not Work in MinOS on: June 09, 2015, 11:18:32 pm
Hi Paul,

Not sure for W10 but worth trying - solved my problem in connecting 2 PC's w/ W8: there is a small .bat file that will clear history
of all previous RDC sessions. Copy & run on both PC's. 'Music PC' was in MIN OS state with mou/kbrd/mon, all removed afterwards:
http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/25423-remote-desktop-connection-clear-history-windows.html

Set RDP/RDC options (make taskbar or desktop icon for RDC) for W8 PC:
