16  Ultimate Audio Playback / Your thoughts about the Sound Quality / Re: 2.10 sound quality on: January 02, 2019, 07:34:48 pm
Hello Peter,

Is it possible that the new settings provoke an inversion in phase? I ask you because after try them I perceived an unpleasant and very thin sound. After press invert phase things seem to have returned to normal. BTW the sound is very promising although more time is needed.
I remember having troubles with Phase Alignment and you suggested at that time I had something inverting phase in my chain but never found where.

Happy New Year!

In my case better with Custom filters than ArcPrediction.

I must rectify: Better with Peter's settings!   Shocked swoon

Others have already said it better than I could have said: better than ever.
The finesse of which I spoke in my previous post is even greater.
And this bearing in mind that I am still struggling with Xtweaks and timers in my spurious RAM OS.
In my case better with Custom filters than ArcPrediction.

Thank you, Peter.  thankyou

Hello,

While waiting for the new version I have been listening with SFS at 6,19 for the last week. I don't know if a difference of one point with 5,16 can be significative but I've found some kind of finesse truly addictive. Let's see   drool

Regards

Maxi

PS. Lowering SFS allows me increasing the Qx factor from x15 to x40 again.  SFS at 20,19 ate the end of last tracks.

Tried 10.19 but back to 20.19.

Me too. Probably the tubes in the chain soften in some way the highs but with 10.19 I perceive  less spark.

Hello Peter,

I don't get that error. I think is map related. The entrance created in the program menu points to an error 15: file not found. So I have to change second 0 to 1 in order to boot the OS. There is a discordance there and all the things I've tried don´t work.
But, anyway, it's OK like that, because sincerely, I never thought I would get so far.  I'm not a fool, I'm an aeroplane

Thank you

Hello again  hel-loo

I don't want to mess around more. stop

Did I want to cheat myself?     F*cking Windows ! ....Some things fixed (others not):

  - Atach, detach and "copy settings to" working now.
  - Menu interoperativity working on BASE disk (but not in RAM)  scratching
  - Timer settings working in BASE disk (but not in RAM)  dntknw

...and my signature, whose absence I had not noticed. swoon

Dear Peter,

The truth is that the sound is absolutely fantastic and I am enjoying it a lot. It was before with the last version and settings but now is EVEN better! yahoo

Hello Peter,

Recently I could manage to make a pseudo "RAM OS". I always wanted to purchase one by you  but my budget for audio is sctrictly limited by "superior instances". This contingency and the fact that I am curious and insensate by nature decided me to give it a try.

At this point I must say that I don't recommend anybody to attempt to do it . The main reason is that the canonic RAM OS  price is absolutely fair (I suspected it before but I know  possitively now), but FURTHERMORE, is a dangerous process and very tedious too. I get my PC dead two times Shocked scare and I can assure you that I have more gray hairs after this. WATCH OUT: You are running on the knife edge doing it.

Well, after a week or so (I had spare time this month) I could get the system booting from RAM and XXHE running flawlessly in min OS from Remote Desktop, etc.

But (there is always a BUT) there were two issues:

1 -  It lacks the interoperativity of the original RAM OS between boot menus,atach-detach, and "copy settings to". It's an inconvenience but I can  live with it. I am missing something but I can't see it and I don't want to mess around more. stop

2 -  I can´t get the timers settings working properly. After asking for change the program tells that no reboot is possible so I can't make them effective.

For the firts issue I honestly can't ask you for help, but for the second one I dare to ask you for advice. blush2

Whatever your answer, thank you very much

Best regards.

Hello,
with the last XXHE version installation I probably made a mistake and I had the same problem. Well, the volume issue for sure. I tried several things and I don't remember exactly how I solved it but I think that was XXDATA folder location related ( or maybe Copy settings to...) Sorry for the vagueness ( I think I need more RAM lately  Shy ...). I hope it's a clue there.

hello Robert,
Yes I tried and, although I can't go up to SFS 120, with SFS 46 the SQ is the best I've never had.
Recently I mounted a poor's man version of the XXHE PC.( Asrock Z97M pro, i3 4170) Peter's offer was a great deal but my (auto) limited budget didn't allow me go for it (austerity syndrome I'm afraid  Old)
So many changes in a short time too but the result is fantastic.

Just a rectification: The name of the software is Setfsb. fool

And also I have to clarify that after a little research the software seems to be a bit outdated (my PC is too) and, furthermore, not all chipsets are represented.

Hello Juan,

I use program a called GetSFB to reduce the front size bus. This, together with the change in the multiplier due to the XXHE tweaks allow me to go down in frequency to some extent where the PC hangs. The problem is that I need to do it after every reboot and moreover you need to identify your chipset to get it working.

I wish to mention another questión related to audiophilia and not specifically to music: the HiFi equipment. I mean the physical appearance, the looks of that brushed aluminiums, the valves glowing in the dark ofa quiet winter night  drool

It is not music but it creates a especial mood and it helps too.
