Hello Peter,
In my case I do the undercloking downloading the FSB and in that way I go from 2.5 to 2. But in any case, with the Ultimate tweaks, the resources monitor shows consistently that I am using the 97% of the total frequency. BTW downloading the FSB always give me better sound. The only thing that is clear is that every PC is a world itself.

Second impression EVEN better: orchestral tutti sounds much less (or not) congested and very easy flowing. Besides that, the "weigth" I was missing is there again, like in W8 but in a different and better fashion.

I received the same message but I could go into minimized  through the previous version after set "ultimate" in the new one, and it seems to work OK.

Hi, Alain

I am skeptical too but I was wondering if there is some truth in it  because my soundcard has a special circuit with capacitors near the DAC chip called by the manufacturer  "PC noise killer".

Thank you Georg!

87  Ultimate Audio Playback / Your thoughts about the Sound Quality / Re: W8 Versus W7 on: February 24, 2013, 10:12:30 am

When I read this a few days back, I recognized I had been in total extasy which sort of resembles Carsten's expression here. This is not only because I like the sound so much from W7 and 0.9z-8-2, this is not only because I now hear so much more from W7 compared to before, but it merely is because I can play and play and play and totally NOTHING is wrong anywhere. Nowhere.
Peter

After some exhaustive listening sessions I can suscribe 100% the above.

Great job Peter...AGAIN.

Something has gone wrong with the new W7 install because now I can't initialize W8 so I am going to talk about what I remember of it. I must admit that the sound is even more refined with  the (9z82) version on W7. The "weigth" has increased but is not as pronounced as it was in (9z81a) version on W8. I liked it a lot but if I have to choose between the two characteristics I prefer refinement even if it means a sligth weigth loss ( If I was talking about me I'd prefer a LARGE weigth loss).
So for now I feel no need to fix the W8 boot issue because the sound is so good in W7. Besides I am a little bit tired of OS installs and boot problems so I prepare to enjoy some good listening sessions. bye

Maxi

PD. Said that I am ready to eat my words again with the consequent weight increase. But not today, maybe tomorrow.
89  Ultimate Audio Playback / Your thoughts about the Sound Quality / Re: 0.9z-8-2 (Windows 7) on: February 20, 2013, 01:37:58 pm
Hello,
In my case the application of the XXTweaks implies a lowering of the multiplier factor from 7,5 to 6 and thus a decrease in the CPU frequency from 2,4 to 1,9 MHz. As I pointed in an older post,  I downsized the FSB,  as Boleary suggested at that time, which is also a drop in CPU frequency, and it meant a improvement. Currently, besides the change in the multiplier factor, I've also lowered the fsb size so that the CPU is running at 1.7 MHz and I think there is some more improvement. So this seems to make sense. Of course there has to be a limit or at least an ideal point somewhere.

Otherwise, after a new W7 installation (again),  heat  I don't want to rush in my estimation about the 0.9z-8-2 (Windows 7) version, so I don't need to eat my words again, but it sounds very promising. Happy

Otherwise I accidentally notice your Wake of The Flood album, which contains "(FLAC)" in its description. I'm almost sure something will go wrong because of that.
Gorillas - Demon Days is similar, although because of the [] used this may be OK.

Peter

Can be that the reason for the covers sometimes take too long to load?

Regards

Maxi
