Hi Alan,

No, I didn't write anything in the image field but I left auto ticked and I didn't tick removable so I'll try your settings.

Thank you!

Hello Peter

I have a problem with the IMdisks configuration or with the XXHE setup. I am not sure. The question is that when I clear the playlist, the music charged in the Playback drive remains on it. Besides that, the same happens in the XXHE folder in such a way that it fills progressively the two folders. Only when I shut down the program the folders go empty again. Is this normal? I have never detected it before. This happens in unattended mode. In attended seems to work OK.
Besides that, and although I don't know if it is related, when I minimize the XXHE interface it doesn't go to the taskbar and I need to call the program again and kill one of the two instances running.

There is no way back to W7. Although it sounds very detailed (sorry Peter) and pleasant, there was a lightweight
presentation compared with W8. The sound in W8 is rich, fullbodied and crystal clear, by far more engaging and natural to my ears.

Hi, Paul

In my case when I play stop and Alt-X the wallpaper cover art appears briefly too, but the weird thing is that the cover doesn't correspond to the record actually playing but to the first record I played when W8 was installed as if it was engaged forever.

Hello,

I have been following the W8 thread green of envy from the distance because I had reflashed the Audiotrak Prodigy HD2 soundcard in order to use ESI drivers and ESI has not provided drivers for W8. Audiotrak has W8 drivers ( VIA Envy) but I was too afraid to revert the situation because I fried my previous soundcard messing with it. But despite of that I couldn't resist myself to jump into the bullring though I could use the MoBo soundard only and guess what, the W7(1.08 version) ESI drivers works in W8. dancing
Is too early to give conclusions but the sound seems to be better overall. Although I am not a happy NOS user I am using  Peter's settings as starting point.
The only drawback is that I have some problems with unattended: cover doesn't appear and commands dontīt work properly. Probably this issue has been addressed somewhere but I have not read the thread exhaustively yet and besides that there is my low level comprehension issue (and not only in english I'm afraid) Rules dntknw

Hello, Frank
I've just read your post and I feel myself fully identified with your history. There is only a difference because you have been persistent in your searching, but at some point I threw the towel. For almost five years I didn't hear a single note of music. I was so dissapointed (I call them the dark years). After four different CD machines I concluded there were no way with it. Then I returned to retake the the vinyl road and I went reconciling with this hobby (passion) again increasingly until my accidental finding of the Peter's software that meant a new era for me.

Welcome

Wink Peter, why don't you make an XXOS ? The progress you are making always amaze me Happy

Alain, you said what I always thought but never dared to say.
101  Ultimate Audio Playback / Your thoughts about the Sound Quality / Re: Test the resolution of your chain on: January 05, 2013, 03:36:07 pm
Hi Peter,
ticks clearly aubible with piano solo music but not so with other kinds of music: only audibles in quiet passages and paying a lot of attention to distinguish them from the recording ambient sounds. So I am not in the premier league. Well, I already knew it but, what could I expect from my pedestrian system?  Happy

BTW I never played with SFS so low but, apart from the ticks, the sound seems to be more transparent.

Just one more silly question: Is me or the tick at the starts seems to be on the left side with certain recordings and on the rigth one with others?

Hi Peter,

BINGO! Replaced engine3 with the new one and reboot and everything seems to work OK.
Thank you very much. I hope it works for Alain too.

No, there is only one folder with the z8 version. I tried the z7-5 version after the OS was installed in order to activate it and then activate the z8 version but it didn't work (well it worked for Z7-5 but not for Z8) so I went  back to a previous restore point with no XXHE versions at all. Since then only Z8 version was installed.

Hi Peter,

Replaced the engine3 with the new one and the next message appears (translated):
"sox.exe - Aplication error
The instruction in 0x00449652 is referred to memory in 0x00294000. Memory could not be read."
There is no music but an intermitent noise.
Replaced the original engine3 and only after several attempts things return to normal.
