Hi,

a surprising new experience for € 49,00.

Very, very dark background, amazing bass, very clean sound, less ambience.

It is very well possible that 2.03 does not kill your laptop when going to MinOS.

Hi Peter,

MinOs works quite well. No. of process are down from >50 to 29.

Hi,
correct, we all have different systems and personnel preferences ....... .

First another item, the sound in my room is "lightyears" away from the sound of  a live concert. (I was in a “rock performance” last Saturday)

At present I’m playing music with W10-10240  - I know =he, he, he - , XXH 2.02 on a RAM disc and an external MinOS program.  Listen to this SQ is a pleasure for many hours (without any fatigue) , even with higher SPLs. Voices and instruments are in acoustical size near to live impressions. (voices are a tad to big)

Started listening with 10586.0, XXH 2.03 in MinOs with my common records last night.

The sound hearing is from the listening position of the mastering engineer. More details, less timbre, very analytical, depth of the room image is very small. Voices and instruments are in acoustical size to small. After a couple of minutes I had to decrease the SPL to 65dB(A).
What I’m missing here is the acoustical size (reverberation)  of  the instruments and voices. This combination (OS + XXH) seems to be .......... .

Maybe I have to start the fight with the installation of 10074. My main problem is, that I shut down the PC every night.

I don't post much here but I am compelled and must totally agree with Peter and Gerard about poor recording quality on Adele's albums.

Hi,

voices are the true/real challenge of a system, and Adele sounds not bad here. All voices on my system are a real pleasure. As I wrote before, amplification matters.

I tried Q5 = 2 but won't comment! Wink
Everybody should try for them selves...

Hi,

since the beginning with W10 (August) the setting of Q5 = 2 here, and the SQ is great Happy
But, every system is different.

Coincidentally I have a few examples of the worst women voices and Adele is one of them (if not ahead of all). The worst for playback, I mean.

Hi,

from my experience amplification (power amp) has a major impact.

Hi,

read this morning, that MS withdraw Build 1511 (10586.3), and therefore build 10586.0 is available only.

Thanks,

Hi Peter,

listen to this song & you will hear differences immediately, and you stop testing with the present OS installed, because you will not like the SQ.

In this 10586 very case though I don't even know what to say about it, because the one person who expressed he was not satisfied (and who was the only one trialling 10586 in a premature fashion anyway ... put on his safety helmet and proceeded with a next "upgrade" without even expressing (and testing ?) 10586 in the environment it's meant to be (XXHE 2.03).

Hi Peter,

I missed your post, and I'm not the only one. http://www.phasure.com/index.php?topic=3371.msg36395#msg36395

I'm testing the releases under same conditions always. There is a track with voices and percussions from David Crosby - Time I have.
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00HV1JYJE/ref=dm_ws_tlw_trk2

The timbre (with XXH 2.02/10240) of David Crosby's voice sounds beautiful and there is an amazing reverberation of a percussion instrument in the beginning of the track. With 10240 it sounds great, with 10586 it sounds dead and with 10565 the SQ improved and but was nonmusical.

With XXH 2.03 under 10565 timbre and reverberation improved, but not as nice as with 10240 (maybe there is a little bit too much of smearing). I wrote before, the loudness/amplification of the drums are very realistic under 10240, but with the other W10 releases not. We are going to a jazz club tonight and i will listen to the "loudness balance" of the instruments. (I wrote a note about the "loudness balance" after a Ron Carter concert)

On the working PC I got release 10586.11 via the automatic update. A week before I downloaded 10586.3 as an iso file for the "working" and "audio" PC.
We might start with a 10586 test again. Release no??

Joachim,

I forgot; Must look in the ToolTip.
Eh ...

What about opening a new topic for this. It's messy as it is already. Ok ?
Meanwhile I will dig up the answer for you and post that in there.

Peter

Hi
NO, it is not messy. You wrote (with a picture) in the manual for 2.02 about "Stop Windows Updates" and i did forget, and my former advise here is not correct. This button is new and my speculation/assumption was wrong. So, nothing to worry about.

There will be short times when I need to connect my music laptop to the internet, e.g. for driver download, software activation etc. Do the W10 updates only get though on powering down and up again (I would always turn wi-fi off then anyway), or could they sneak in whilst switched back on after powering up and connected for say 10 mins??

Paul

Hi,

from my experience the updates are starting as soon as your are connected with the internet. I downloaded the 3.5 only and during that short time span 3 updates have been installed.

105  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: XXH 2.03 in MinOs disables/resets Power settings back to max again on: November 20, 2015, 09:27:20 am

The Power Scheme Settings is under control of XXHighEnd, unless you tell XXHighEnd('s Settings) not to use XTweaks.

Hi,

I never used Xtweaks, because I didn't find the right settings, whatever selected.

The "problem" is, that I want to lower the CPU speed, which is not possible via the BIOS, so I use the "Power options" with a set to 60%, which works fine here.

With XTweaks the CPU speed will ........... ? I Think not, or?
