16  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: OutOfMemoryException ? on: November 01, 2010, 04:25:53 pm
Peter,

I checked SFS=200 and it is too much, the same 180. When 160 it is OK.
Now I lowered ramdisk size from 8GB to 6GB.

Peter,

Virual memory = 16MB only.
Physical memory = 16GB

SFS=220 (first screen shot)
SFS=220 (second, after closing OUT OF MEMORY screen)
SFS=150 (third screen)

Hello Peter,

I am getting "Out of memory Exception" on Z-3 version, when trying to play a track which is 14 minutes long, I am not using any kind of upsampling, fx = 1x (16bit/44.1 kHz), volume is not used (0.0), SFS is 220kB. System shows 10GB memory used (8GB is ramdisk, 2 is system and services), so 6 GB is free. Total physical memory is 16GB. Setting in INI is "11". I checked that this particular wave file has size of 144kBytes on my ramdisk.

I lowered SFS to 150kB, and the track plays well, but do not understand why the problem occures in this situation ?
XXHE being 32bit application can allocate as much memeory as needed to play this track.

19  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Gallery creation problem on: October 29, 2010, 09:56:33 pm
Peter,

1st issue.
=======
I have problems creating gallery entries from another gallery. Looks like adding items (albums or tracks) from existing gallery to another existing gallery does not work - they are not added at all, but program says that 1 item was added.

2nd issue
=======
Adding gallery items from a physical location causes immediate XXHE crash.

----
Where is the problem ? Maybe something changed and it works now in another way ?

20  Ultimate Audio Playback / Your thoughts about the Sound Quality / Re: 9-Z3 on: October 29, 2010, 09:09:48 pm
Peter,

testing Windows 7 64-bit, 16GB RAM and using ramdisk (8gb), I found the best combination
- 11 (I tried 10, 21, 01)
- SFS 220 (tried only 60 and 220)
The difference between 21 and 11 is subtle, but I like 11 because it is more fluent, more feel-like-being-there, heights are more liquid, and everything else is also better. The biggest damage to the sound introduces second 0 in ini file.

Congratulation, XXHE is even better. I did not expect this, really.

Peter,

here is what I mean about #1.
Picture 1 shows herarchical gallery, picture 2 shows flat organized gallery where you have only albums. I do not see any possibility to load single album to a gallery with artisc (like on picture #1). I hope you know what I mean.

I is easy to find something in library #1, it is very difficutl to find anything in gallery #2, because you do not have artists there visible, only almum names.

Peter, I am trying to understand your ideas, and I have some more questions:
1. When building ALL MY STUFF gallery, the albums have the same hierarchical structure (artist / album) as in the library, whilst when selecting the album they I acualy play, it is copied to the gallery without that structure. Is it possible to copy the album together with the upper container (artist album) ? Otherwise I do not know who is the artist of the album in the gallery.
2. Can I manually rearrange the gallery after being built without any harm to the XXHighEnd (manually move albums to added artist containers) ?
3. When trying to add a track or album by using a hotkey (ALT-H or any others) the playing music always stops after 2-3 seconds. When trying to add it by using right mouse click, it is OK. Why is it like that ?
4. When adding the whole album by using right mouse click, and ADD TO GALLERY, it is being expanded to default option Add to transactions. Because I am using touch pad, I have chosen this option by mistake several times, and had a XXHighEnd crash each time. What is it option for and why it is always defaultly highlited ?
5. Supposing I have addad all my CD directories/disks to the ALL MY STAFF Gallery, how can I have it synchonized with Library ? Do i need to add each CD manually to this Gallery ? If so, how can I identify which CD is not already added to the ALL MY STUFF gallery ?
Sorry for so many questions. Happy
Jarek

Peter,

Does it mean that I cannot have both at the same time: Galleries and Library ? If I cannot, then how can I keep adding files from Library to Galleries ? Before adding I would like to listen to track in the library. It is not convnenient to changing music root in settings from Library to Galleries and back.

A solution is to have Gallery of all tracks, and then play from it, but I do not know if it is possibole to create such Gallery, and then add tracks/albums from Gallery to Gallery.

Dear Peter,

can you write more about how to get advantage of galleries ? I suppose I know how to add albums or tracks, but do not know what next ? Supposing I would like to play a track or build a playlist from a gallery ? How can I do this ? How to play a track/album from Demo gallery or Nice Stuff  or Custom made one ?

Sure I do.
26  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Wanted functionality : deleting already played tracks from XXHighEnd directory on: October 14, 2010, 06:54:37 pm
Hi Peter,

can you add useful functionality of auto-deleting already played converted tracks from the current directory (when next track is played, previous is/are deleted) ? This would allow to put more tracks in playlist when using ramdisk. I know there will be complaints about losing some SQ, but you could make a checkbox in settings activating this functionality.

Thank you
Jarek
27  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: 0.9z-2 HDCD decoding issue on: June 26, 2010, 10:14:48 am
Peter,
this must have been problem with the HDCD = YES line, becuase now I cannot repeat this kind problem. The file must have been created by previous version of XXHighEnd. Now, no matter what I do, I have always HDCD = NO, and no problem exists.
Thank you.
28  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: 0.9z-2 HDCD decoding issue on: June 25, 2010, 08:24:54 pm
Hi Roy and Peter,
a file ANALYSIS.DAT in the CD directory contains HDCD=YES, whilst Cuetools detect this CD as being not HDCD. XXHighEnd shows it is HDCD. Does in because of ANALYSIS.DAT file contains the line HDCD=YES ?
29  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / 0.9z-2 HDCD decoding issue on: June 24, 2010, 07:53:50 pm
Hi Peter,

I would like to report small issue with false HDCD decoding. This is not new issue, was also in previous Z-1 version.
So, there are some CDs that are identified as being HDCD whilst they are not necessarily HDCD (in fact I am really not sure about it).

An example might be Alan Parson Project "Eye in the sky" remastered CD. When trying to play on XXHighEnd it is identified as being HDCD and sometimes I receive an error "Error during HDCD decoding" or something like that.

What I did, is I ripped it using dbPoweramp and added DSP effect called HDCD. What is does, is:
- if HDCD is found, it is decoded to 24bit
- if HDCD is not found, it is not decoded - left as 16 bit music

Now, when XXHighEnd upconverts also 24bit/44.1kHz flac files, I can use this DSP feature for every CD. And you know what is an additional advantage ? This software always clears HDCD flags whateved disk I rip - also seems to clear those false HDCD issues. For example, the Alan Parsons Project "Eye in the sky" is still 16bit FLAC, but HDCD is not reported as existing in XXHighEnd, and I can see no errors. Just positive side effect of dpPoweramp HDCD DSP effect on normal CD being identified as HDCD by XXHighEnd ?

True HDCD are converted to 24bit flac files by this DSP module.

Thank you !
30  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: Question about stability of data stream in adaptive mode on: June 19, 2010, 06:18:24 pm
Dear Peter,

do you think that -6dB should be more "right" and accurate than -4.5dB (at least in theory) ?
When setting voulme to -6dB XXHighEnd does not have much to do to calculate data, whilst setting to -4.5dB calculation might be much more complicated and in fact might be more chances to lose some data ? Am I right ?
