46  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / 0,9z-1 clock/resolution operations in future version on: June 09, 2010, 07:18:16 pm
Peter,

I suggest that meaning of 2x (double), 4x and so on, should be exactly as it is in professional world, does not matter what source material we have. That means :
- 2x means always 88,2 or 96 kHz depending on the source is 44,1 or 48, 88,2 or 96
- 4x means always 176,4 or 192 kHz depending on the source is 44,1 or 48, 88,2 or 96 or 176,4 or 192
- 8x similiar and 4x, and so on
this should have nothing to do with resolution, which should be always 24 bit or 32 bit depending on DAC.

Supposing we have 88,2 or 96 kHz track and quality is set to 1x, what to do ? Maybe downsample  or just display a message that track cannot be played with this setting or just ignore this setting.

What do you think ?
I suppose everybody will like this.

47  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: 09-z1 issues on: June 09, 2010, 06:58:22 pm
Peter,

my default configuration is PC with LYNX working in slave mode, accepting clock from external source, as well as DAC. To check things up, and identify the problem, I set PC to master and DAC to slave passing the external clock by. Now I understand why new version does not play 2x and 4x with external clock.

When I play 16/44.1 track and specify 2x, it plays 24 bit/44,1kHz, if I choose 4x, it plays exactly the same : 24bit/44.1kHz, instead of 24bit/88,2 and 24bit/176,4 kHz accordingly. Strangely, XXHighEnd shows 176,4kHz when set to 4x, but dCS dac identifies this as 44,1kHz. It must be true, because dCS does not accept anything more than 96kHz on single AES, so when XXHighEnd dpsplays 176400 - this must be the false value.

Peter,

Version 8 and 9zb plays well with dCS on double AES. Version 09z1 is different. On my DAC it plays only 1x.

By the way - dCS accepts only 32bit transmission, swiching to 24bit I have message "Device allocated, but cannot play. Check...." not only on 9z1 but also on previous versions of XXHighEnd. So this is not the case...

At least latest version displays what intended to do correctly, that means, set to 4x, dispalys 32 bit 176400Hz which is correct. But DAC does not play displaying the message.

Peter,

I am trying to play 16/44.1kHz tracks, and there was not any problem to play them 4x or 2x on 24/192kHz dCS Scarlatti DAC using dual AES. This version simply does not allow any such settings. Only pure 16/44.1Khz is playing. Otherwise I have a message "Device allocated but Can't play. Check DAC settings..." . Obviously DAC settings are OK in XXHighEnd.

Log files will tell you more, I hope.

50  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / 09-z1 HDCD settings on: June 08, 2010, 10:46:33 pm
Hi Peter,

The HDCD settings (to use or not to use) is set to HDCD Active always when I change the DAC to be 1x, 2x, 4x, etc. I think, that HDCD setting should stay not changed.
Thank you.

51  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / 09-z1 issues on: June 08, 2010, 10:43:22 pm
Hi Peter,

I noticed that after changing from 09-z to 09-z1 I cannot play any track when setting the DAC to be 2x or 4x. When I select 2x or 4x I have message "Device cannot be allocated....Check your DAC settings....", and next message "Engine 4 did not start in expeted time...". My DAC is 24/192 and so was defined.

Cheers !

Peter,
new version is working fine, all issues reported by me in this post are not existing and are solved.
Can I use it, or there is any temporary trick here ?

I am sorry for so many posts, but I want to explain all problems is full. So, since I have to set up all the options again - including loading an album to playlist area, probably because of that PLAY is inactive. In version 8, I had to make XXHighEnd Off and On again after loading an album to make Play button active, here I cannot do this since Play button is inactive all the time. As a result I cannot hear a sound...

So, I now verified for 100% that settings are not stored. The program is displaying on startup a message that settings were lost and if I want to recover the settings. When I click YES, I have old settings from version 8. When I exit the program it is hanging in process list and I have to kill the process manually.

I have noticed that increased time needed to starting XXHighEnd is because I have several instances of XXHighEnd running as a tasks (eg. 3 x XXHighEnd processes). Exiting a program does not cause the task to end. I have to kill the XXHighEnd process manually.

I am sorry - looks like settings are stored by the screen size and scheme is not - my mistake...
57  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: 0,9z installation not possible on Win7 64-bit Ultimate PL on: May 30, 2010, 11:06:43 am
The 0,9z version is not working in my case as you say. When I click Cancel to all the dialogs that appear on sturtup about programs that need to be run, I have to set all the options in program. When I exit the program to have the settings stored, I have two screens with error (one about running a program exactly the same as in the first post and one about 32-bit susbsystem issue).

After that when I try to run XXHighEnd again, it shows up after about 1,5 minute (for the first time after a second or so), and than displays message to load or not previous settings. No matter what I choose, settings are lost. And again, several programs need to be started, and things remain the same.

Color scheme ? I mean that text and icons have darker background that the background iself, which is brighter.
59  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / 0,9z installation not possible on Win7 64-bit Ultimate PL on: May 30, 2010, 10:17:13 am
Hi Peter,

here is cusing trouble user again Happy !

I tired to install 0,9z on Windows7 Ultimate 64-bit polish edition.
First I noticed, the color scheme of first and every next screen looks strange. I attach a copy. Text area is different color than background. I have 1280x800, 32bit color, tried to change to 16bit but this does not help - the screens look the same. This is nothing however.

Program says, that several programs will be started, you know what I mean. So first goes the screen in attachement. You have to imagine this screen in english or dutch - looks similiar.
I I click Run, than the same screen appears and I can click Run forever... If I click Cancel, the next dialog about the next program appears.

Is a problem with 32-bit subsystem of 64-bit systems ? Still, cannot make it running. Of course previous version works fine.

60  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Next track in unattended mode on: May 22, 2010, 08:25:13 pm
Hi Peter,
I have noticed that next track in unattended mode does not work (the same track is played again) when multiselect tracks are chosen (eg. 1,3,5th track).
