You can always try to install the drivers manually by means of rightclick on the device (from within device manager or however it's called) and next go as manually as possible ...
It all works, thanks!
First thing I did was to install an driver manager, to make shure that all drivers (64 bits, win 7) are on the system). And I did found the trick to install the Sound Card driver manually.

Still having small hickups in the sound, external harddisk activities, ... but all sounds still very good! I need more listening time.

One problem I have is  Autohotkey. I will continueing in that specific post. See http://www.phasure.com/index.php?topic=724.msg8222#msg8222

Anyway, I would definitely recommend the move to Win7....
Today I did make a start to install Win7 64 bits version. I had some troubles to start the installation process on the SSD because I did not burn the Win7 ISO file on the lowest DVD write speed! Yes there more people having the same problem. "Trying to install Windows 7 and get hung up after clicking the "Install" button on boot-up using DVD. It loads for a bit, then tells me a CD/DVD Driver is required and can't be found"

After some time I start with the last installation of the soundcard drivers "Audiotrak HD2" .......f...k!....Strange but true I can't manage to install the drivers. I don't know why. Simply nothing happens after a double click on the .EXE. I did a test on a XP machine (without the soundcard) same result. The installation proces didn't start.....suggestions? At the moment I'm back to Vista (another harddisk) listening to XX!

Audiotrak or Onkyo.
Does Onkyo has Windows 7 drivers? Audiotrak didn't

Hi Peter,

Sometimes I need a backup of a cd cover. Is it handy to introduce a Printfunction in XXHighend for this purpose? The Wallpaper (exclusive phase,..) inclusive a selectable back is a good layout for this purpose. Only the text should be scaled in this area + Artisname and Title.

All fonts in Wallpaper Verdana during unattended playback?
Show maximum tracks in track title.
Dynamic scaling of text in unattended mode. I am using an 8" LCD screen!

Hi Peter,

This disc activity thing keeps me busy for a while. I had always the impression that it starts after 4 or 5 tracks of a record. Yesterday I was thinking about that and i realise that I frequently use the pause command and followed by a play command again.
I did a clean start of XX load a record in the playlist and play unattended. After that I switched the external drive(s) off and all plays ok without a message.
After switching the drives on I did load again a record in the playlist and give a play command. After some tracks I give a pause command and play again (i am not sure if works for the first time,..) the next track I hear external disc activities.  I have done this test again with the pause command. After the first notes I switched the external drive off and during that number I get the message "Music file does not exist on I:\\music\jazz . I am not 100% sure about this but its a direction I  am thinking about.

Second thing I have noticed is that when you give a play command after a pause command , it looks like all the next tracks are loading again from the external drive (I hear external disc activities!!!).
I have test this by switching the external drive off after a pause command and then a play command again. Then you get this message "Music file..I:\\.." again. This works also when you give a stop command during playback, followed by a play command. in my opinion this reload of the wav. files is not necessary because all the wav files are still in the XX directory. Only switching XX off clears the wav. files in the XX directory.

Last thing. Starting XX it shows the old playlist. I have the impression that when I select a track it also activates the external drive when it is in a powersave condition. Is that necessary?

Could you increase the text area for a reply, because I get a strange behaviour when I type more text then there is space for it?

Regards Johan

I think the NE5532 are there for a reason: low noise. The Audiotrak and .......
The HD2 Gold uses OPA2134 on the buffer stage while maintaining JRC5532 on differential stage. So there we go...There are a lot of people experimenting with these opamps. Look on the internet.

Indeed I have the impression that the setting "Start Engine3 during conversion" solves the interrupptions. Although this morning I did hear disc-activities.
Today again the interuptions in the sound! Sometimes every minute external disc activities.

About the Audiotrak HD2.........

Quote
......triple OpAmp design for audio output with three high quality Fairchild NE5532 OpAmps on separate sockets
Replace them for 2xLT1364 ans 1x LT1361 great improvement.
I do have the DDDAC1543 but with the Audiotrak HD2 card I have at least a similar sound quality and it gives me more possibilities using XX.
I have used the opa627 on browndog  (the best!? and expensive) but what is lacking is the life and ejoyment factor!

I should be able to solve that ...
Do you mean these diskactivities during playback.

.....but why do I have these external diskactivities while I use "Copy to XX..." during playback in unattended mode? Did I do something wrong when I added the music to the Gallery? Wrong pointers? I have the impression that XX triggers this external disc-activity.

And ?
Indeed I have the impression that the setting "Start Engine3 during conversion" solves the interrupptions. Although this morning I did hear disc-activities. I Switched the external drive off and guess ...again a message "Music file does not exist on I:\\music\jazz (see attachment)

The setting "Start Engine3.." is responsable for missing the first OSD Text after a play command. At the second track the album and track information is ok. So when i unticked the option "Start Engine3" the OSD Text information will be presented at the first track. This was the reason I unticked this option in the first place.

So yes it seems to me until now that "Start Engine3" works.....but why do I have the diskactivities while I use Copy to XX..." (this morning I had one interruption)

No, i said to uninstall the antivirus and any other resident program. Of course, better if the PC is not connected to internet. If nothing does, format and reinstall windows (and stay offline)
Before Y4 I did not have this interruptions in playback. I have the impression that the disk I/O (activities) are causing processor activities and interruptions in soundreproduction. As I mentioned earlier when it go's wrong (in my case) I hear sometimes an interval of 1 minute discactivities. It's a pity that you can't switch off your internal musicdisc when you hear this interruptions. Maybe your logfiles tell's you more about the discactivities.

You never attached your logfiles in this post when you have this interruptions. Maybe this give's Peter some more information.

So, notice that with 4x upsampling and 120MB Split Size, the really only I/O XX is causing will be at the 1 minute mark. One next a 2:10 and then at around 3:10 etc.. A few tiny I/O's

I do recognise this interval on mine system when i have the external diskacitivity. Every minute I hear the external disk spin-up, mostly followed with a break of 1 or more seconds in the music. When Ed uses external drives that are very quit is it possible that we have the same problem?

Ed you mentioned earlier that you use two seperate discs? Using "Copy to XX drive" And when you switch your external drives off after a break in the sound, do you get error messages?
