556  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / XXHighEnd 0.9f : Hick ups in the sound with engine #3 on: July 22, 2007, 11:23:58 pm
Hello Peter,

Sometimes I lost the controle with mine 8" touch-screen (a known problem, without a solution). So yesterday I decided to connect a mouse to a USB port on mine PC.  Suddenly I noticed, when I moved the mouse on the screen during XX music playback above XX fields and track titles, I got hick ups in the sound. When I changed to Engine #2 it all functioning ok, no hick ups anymore when I moved the mouse. I am using Vista Business edition and XX 0.9f with engine #3.

I have changed without a result, the playerprio in XX and the performance/priority in Vista.

Any solution?

Regards,

Johan

Hi Peter,

this won't be a problem for you since you actually should use (or just use) your DDDac
Normaly a DDDAC has only a SPDIF input. What do I change /or disable on mine PC to use this SPDIF input?

Quote
....define the USB Audio Device as Primary Device .........so it lists as the first available device
by selecting another output in XXHighEnd!?

I think for the mean time, I prefer a Dutch 'speaking' forum!

Johan, can I assume that this won't be a problem for you since you actually should use (or just use) your DDDac ?
Yes indeed I only want to use the NOS DDDAC1543. What do I need to be Disabled in mine PC to get bit perfect and an errorless XX? I still want to use the SPDIF output! But I also have a USB input on mine DDDAC!

Hi Peter,

... can you change the volume by the Vista mixer (speaker icon in the taskbar tray) ?
Yes I can!

Another note:
When I use engine#3 and select the check-box "Double" I get the following error messages. Has these error messages something to do with this?

Hello Peter,

Here some testresults and remarks,

Quote
........whether the Delay (in XX) of one second helps you too

In the beginning I thought that it was the solution for the problem. With the one second it sometimes continuing fore one or two tracks. And then the same errors appears. I have test it with 2,3,5 seconds on different cd's. When I switched back to a delay of 0 seconds, it stil play sometimes 2 or 3 tracks.
Another thing I have notist is that XX not memorizes de delay setting. The next time I start XX it is 0 seconds again.

Quote
........do not use offline upsampled tracks (e.g. to 48K !!) to test this because the program performing the upsampling might have written wrong header data into the file (which would be a typicle cause for this problem).

What do you mean with offline upsampling? The checkbox "UpSmp" option in XX? I'll never used it.

Quote
......you use offline to 48K upsampled tracks.........you use offline to 48K upsampled tracks. Just because you are in the DDDac "community"..........
All the testactivities are done without the most famous DDDAC1543. So I connect the headphone direct to the onboard soundcard output!

561  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / XXHighEnd version 0.9d stops after one track + errors on: July 03, 2007, 10:50:03 pm
Hi Peter,

Yesterday I thought that all problems were solved. Short after I had finished mine post on this forum, I have got some error messages only in engine#3.

Today I did a 'reinstall' of XX 0.9d, still in the Vista Business envirement. Here are mine findings:
After one track I get two error messages from Windows :

first
  • "XXEngine3.exe werkt niet meer" ;

second
  • "Failure, Engine#3 did not start within expected time" .

When I look in the task manager I see in the tab "tasks" XXengine3 is still there. XXHighEnd isn't there anymore. On the screen the program XXHighEnd is stil there.

After accepting the errors and via play-button the music continues.  In the active task list I can see XXengine3 and XXHighEnd......

HELP! Shocked

Hi Peter,

Note : "hanging of the sound" in this case means "the last part of the buffer sent to tha DAC keeps on repeating". tadadadadadadada

..............yes thats the sound!

Is there an explination why I can't get these problems with engine#1 and #2?

564  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Sound hangs with Engine#3 on: July 01, 2007, 04:57:35 pm
Hi Peter,

Afther some heavy testing yesterday, you released today a new version XX 0.9 d.

This morning i have installed the player in Vista Business edition. Afther the demo screen it was up and running. With engine#1 i have got no sound. The progression indicator is running. With Engine #2 running, all seems to work ok, inclusive sound.

Engine #3 is special. Afther starting to play music, it seems to be working ok. But when i activate another button eg <stop>, the sound "hangs" . It repeats the last seconds of a the music. Even when i stop XXHighEnd, i can hear the music. When i start the software again i get error messages "Device can not allowcated..."and "Engine #3 did not start in the expected time.." And i still can hear the repeating music. Afther an reboot of the system, all starts over again. It works until i touch a button.

One thing I have done is to download the last vista drivers for mine Realtek 883 onboard soundship. But that gave no solution. Testing with an other player, works ok. Ending the music is a real ending.

Do you have a solution for me?

Regards,

Johan

Hi Peter,

This afternoon I started to install Vista on mine Audio PC. After solving some troubles with drivers the system is now up and running incl.a LAN connection.

In mine attemp to get XXHighEnd running here some experiences:

The first thing I did was creating a shortcut on the desktop (I have a second partition with the XX software). After starting XX I got a complex error message.
The next step I did was making the Folder "XXCurrentversion" empty and reinstall XX 0.9b. Result still the same error message.
I installed DirectX and DotNet Framework 3.0 (I think not necessary in Vista). Result no error message anymore but a safety message of Microsoft. When I activate the button <uitvoeren>, it gives the message "XXHighEnd Demo" and belief it or not after activating the"<OK> button the Dialog box disappeared.......... and....... nothing happens. XXHighEnd don't start!  I don't see any task like XXHighEnd.exe in the Windows taskmanager.

Do you have some suggestions?......... grazy

Regards,

Johan

Hi Peter,

....at last Succeeded!

Hints:
Both PC's needs XX 0.9b
The "activation code" field needs to contain the path e.g. \\AUDIOPC\XXcurrentversion\
Don't forget the last back-slash! Push the <Activate>-button and restart XX and the job is done! heat rofl

Hi Peter,

On mine Audio PC I have installed Windows Xp on Partition C and XXHighEnd activated on Partition D. This afthernoon I want to migrade to Vista by cleaning Partition C and do a clean instal of Vista on that partition. Will keep XXHighEnd the activated status?
