Tried with the settings in the my signature and the XTweaks ones that you are using and changed down to SFS=2. I did not hear these ticks even with high volume.

@Peter:  Nice

Big Step!

Hey Peter,

in the meantime I measured the room resonances for a new loudspeaker, had to reboot the PC two times - that's it. Activation needs sometimes more carefulness or more popular: The problem is sitting 40 cm in front of the display  Wink

Hi Peter,

now I found the time to recover from Christmas  Wink  and tried to install the new version. I run into problems:

1. Switched old version to normal OS
2. Copied new version to PC
3. Activated version and did the configuration
4. Rebooted the PC - seems ok
5. Pressed the Button "Minmize OS"
6. Did the restore point
7. Then the message window "Check reboot" appears:

"Were sorry, but your reboot into Minimized OS cannot continue"

So what to do  scratching

It's not possible to clean up my space  Wink, so I will not post a picture here.

There is a little more complicated but very flexible free software solution running under Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012 in 64 bit mode too:

I have the same experience with SFS=2 too. Additionally I recycled some spare memory and built up a RAM based playback drive. I know that this is a component from the dark past - but I found a sweetspot for my system.

But I take up the cudgels for the recording engineers. I got some of them in the circle of friends and one of them with a long experience told me that there is only 10% to 20% of the budget available for a standard production today than 30 years ago. Need I say more?

And I know some recording engineers which watch their equipment and the combination of components as a treasure - including the recording locations. But it's still very difficult to reproduce the same sound again even at the same location. Virtual dgital locations are very easy to reproduce and some of the best sounding recordings are done in that way.

Hey Peter,

heard mostly guitar and violin music this weekend. In summary I cannot hear any additional artefacts which are not part of the music. As a formerly private guitar player playing family music I can say that the tone of the strings is right. I can definitely say if it's a synthetic material, steel or phosphor bronze or the combination of them. I can hear a loosen tuning peg and the resonances in the corpus sound right.

Very nice!

Hey Peter,

that's what I hear by trend for now:

Big improvement for voices. Reference is the very good engineered record Folk Songs of the Swingle Singers. Every voice is recorded teasing out the individual voice characteristics with small reverberation. Nevertheless the group sounds as a whole.
Big improvement for harmonics of cymbals, gongs, glasharp and so on. Clean transients when knocking wood on wood or knocking glas with metall rods. Reference is the Tomato Record Three Constructions of John Cage.
Very black background for electronic music. Reference is Andreas Vollenweiders Behind the Gardens.

You're on the right track, Peter!

Hi Juan,

if you can live with a little handycap use one of that old mechanical port switches to switch the mouse or the keyboard to the PS/2 port ...

[But, as I remember, it's working only with the right combination of hardware and driver software.]

Hey Peter,

I want to tell a little story: I had unexpected visitors this afternoon. Listening to Uto Ughi playing some of the Bach violin sonatas two people were knocking on the french doors and were asking who is playing. In a while it became clear that they were musicians of the local symphony orchestra visiting the neighbours and they thought that a collegue was playing! I will never forget their surprised mien watching the music equipment.
