Hi Mani,

there is another option if Peter's solution isn't working for you. A friend of mine does a lot of unintrusive software testing via VGA and PS2 interfaces. He is using VGA capturing devices like http://www.epiphan.com/products/frame-grabbers and is happy with it.

that's the right description: Cannot believe it! There is a lot - and I mean a lot - more of details and live athmosphere. I'm not shure at this time but I think it's not at the expense of the overall sound quality.

Got high spirits this evening and decided to experiment with the setting a little funky. Using the same settings as Peter in his signature but dev-buffer = 1024 and memory management = MIXED. Oh, boy !!

Hey Peter,

I think that the contrast is very high. This design points out to every little graphics mistake when icons or bitmaps (avatars, xxhighend top right and on the left) are placed on the background - little spikes at the edges for example.

The icons should be bright on dark background and vice versa.

If using the reply editor the text below the edit window is not readable easily. The background is to bright on the left side of the text area.
 
I don't say anything to the colors - it's a matter of taste. But I like to take photos with black and white films

did not explore this side of XXHIghend before - that was a big mistake! First I thought it sounds like a studio monitor but that's not correct. It sounds like a headphone with 3D image! Very, very detailed and exquisite.

Hi praphan,

I don't play in this league    but are using a small amp with switching power supply. Tried a lot of tube rolling but found out that the most critical part seems to be the quality of the power supply. The differences were small when using my amp, which is modded heavily in the signal path. Using the same tubes in amps with conventional tube power supply guides to big sonic differences between the tubes. Maybe there is a replacement for the classic Macintosh power supply?

tried the memory tweak too, but setting the lowest speed possible. Very smooth and relaxed sound. Fits optimal to Oscar Peterson / Fred Astaire Complete Norman Granz Sessions

Hi Brian,

maybe buildung a Rolls-Royce and driving it with 50 miles/hour could be a solution. Additionally I got better results by reducing the processor speed and switching the AMD from unganged to ganged mode for memory transfers. Ganged meanns that every core is using the 128 bit memory bus exclusively - the other cores must wait.

that's not possible in the short-term, I believe. But another aspect: I always liked Peter's approach to deliver the bare and well thought function in contrast to the comfort of the user interface or modularity. It's the best Peter gives us. If commercializing means more eye-cathing features and comfort instead of functionality - I would missa lot
