1  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: XX from RAM differences compared to playing from boot drive on: October 10, 2017, 04:24:42 pm
OK

Changed to BASE and changed the settings still being in Minimized Mode:

- Stable to Not Stable and vice versa (2x reboot)
- Optimal to Not Optimal and vice versa (2x Reboot)
- Changed to Normal Mode (needed to activate new settings where certain services are needed) and back to Minimized (2x reboot)

From there back to booting in RAM and now all looks the same except for Driver Signing as this is not (?) related...

The Driver Sigining is not related to this.

Still it shows different in the settings. RAM all false and BASE all OK hence the question(s).

But, do notice that it would be an easy mistake to copy back from a backup "copy" of the OS, and forget about this.

I did not copy anything back... I just made it work for the RAM disc once I started with that version in my PC and never changed anything after.

I never checked if it looks OK in RAM too though but as far as I can understand your answer... it should look correct and the same in both settings (RAM and BASE)?

I will "redeo" the whole sequence (Driver Signing not included because this is not relevant???).

Can this be done in Minimized?

I am not sure you just told that you did exactly that, so let's have that out of the way first ... OK ?

Not excactly after the update to 2.07+ but going back from RAM boot to BASE boot to see if the settings show okay in there after I found out that it shows "off" in RAM.

EDIT:  Do I need to redo the whole sequence again? Trying to change all settings and re-asigning the drivers?

I did not change anything to XX after copy all new 2.07 (and 2.08) into the present XX folder to upgrade. The Driver Signing and Stable options were set correctly with the previous XX version (2.04 I believe).

Settings when starting XX from the bootdrive (to my idea also the basic configuration for booting into RAM).

From boot drive all is OK, checking the same settings started from RAM not at all...

Is this normal?

The images are from a RAM drive configuration. XX from HDD it shows Stable, Optimal and no need to Sign the drivers...

This afternoon I've reconnected the Clarixa again and damn, what a nasty experience. Everything was getting cold and thin with the feeling as if all was more dynamic and tight....

Fake dynamics if you ask me because I could not stand the added pressure feeling on my ears for much longer and eager to turn the volume down after a few minutes..

Back to the Lush again and all is just clean, dynamic and powerful without a trace of harsness... very enjoyable again!

Edit: Do not look at my signature settings... needs changes for some time already!

Solved...

Replaced the c over the existing files and now it states 2.04c.

Thanks,

Bert
11  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / XX version 2.04a or 2.04c nevertheless? on: March 12, 2016, 01:34:17 pm
Perhaps I have missed something but as far as I remember I have downloaded version 2.04c and installed it as well but the player says differently...?

Or do I have installed v2.04a by mistake? The directory states 2.04c, I am confused...  scratching

I'd say you already had this working :

Music Server PC -> RDC -> Audio PC.

Yes, with the Audio PC connected to the main house network (switch) but not directly with a LAN cable from Audio PC to Music Server PC.

This connection can't be made (needs a crossover) and when done the next step might be a problem to get access to the NAS through the Music Server PC

I do need a crosslink cable/adapter to make a connection...

Found an old PCI LAN card which acts similar (both 1G) to the internal LAN connection on the PC.

For the moment I can use another more simple approach and that is selecting a list, press play and unplug the LAN from the audio PC.

Nothing beats any other connection...  Wink

Thanks Alain,

For a brief moment I could connect directly through a normal CAT5 but after logging off from the Music Server PC (my main PC) there is no way to connect anymore though that cable directly...

The before used way to connect still works so nothing is lost.

Somehow there is something weird going on which I need to tackle first to be able to login after a reboot as well. Next XX will need to find my files on the Music Server PC...

I do know now that I only need the extra network card to make things work one day. It will then be similar to your setup Alain.

Do not make your own terms up here, because the first who does not understand is you yourself.

Thanks.. will use common terms!  sorry

The question was basically also if I can remotely control the Audio PC through a direct connection between that PC and the Music Server PC (my main PC should be used for that). I know I can using the network (the switch) but apparently it works the same.

Now set up the RDP connection from the tablet to that screen. That is really all ...

Thanks, that's clear now...  yes

Remotely control one PC using it remotely to control another one using its own RDC connection... mmm, let's see if my network card needs a crosslink cable or not (not so new one!).
