1  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: Where do I login for Tidal services through XXHighend? on: November 08, 2019, 02:56:25 pm

PS: If I misunderstood, then please say so.

The idea is to stream Tidal through your DAC (software).

I can't download files to my Tidal folder, how does this work?

I hoped to use XXHighend to pass the stream to your DAC without saving the data but apparently this does not work out like this?

Thanks...

So... if I want to play an album I do not have yet then I'll first need to go to the MusicServer and use Tidal there to fill the folder I have on the MusicServer with the downloaded albums and then switch back to the AudioPC, search through the Tidal folder and play from there?

On the Audio PC (connected to the DAC) there is no internet connection, at least Explorer doesn't work there. Not in normal mode, Minimized mode nor RAM.

On the MusicServer I do have internet and Tidal access and on my main PC as well.

I can't find any details about how to get Tidal working similar as my Music Server is providing the data?

Or do I have to insert a video card, connect a monitor and a keyboard to the audio PC to be able to make XX coöperate with Tidal work first?

I have to ask are you still using barebone Intona?

No Intona here ... haven't tried it for a while either.

Maybe this does not 100% cover what you are saying, although it could when thinking of the "too technical" you refer to. Along with it, I have the idea it is more pleasant to listen to, while I not readily noticed downsides. Maybe a tad less spoken bass ?

The bass is less "punchy" and "less clean/dry" with the [low] setting but the overall sound is more real and more pleasant to me. Arc Prediction is making me lower the volume because it gives an "annoying" pressure on my ears (playing loud trying to fill the missing something I guess...).

Need more listening sessions though (flipping phase makes a big difference but not equally for all settings).

If you try another setting than also try to invert or revert the phase with that setting... its result is not always better for all settings.

With these settings, I too find that the sound is not cohesive so I tried inverting phase & it brings the cohesiveness back.

Hey  Arvind,

I changed my Custom filter settings to [low] which brings back body and character to the music. At high or Arc Prediction the sound is too "technical"... at least here on my system.

Perhaps you'll like it more too?

Cheers,

Bert

Me too...

Liking the 0.69 settings a lot too except for that "out of phase" kind of annoying twist like something is missing.

Used Arc Prediction Filtering (16x) for some time now but since I switched to Custom Filtering (High 29510) things returned to normal without losing the advantages of that much tighter bass.

I did also have added more gain to the lower section than I could bare before resulting in more weight and with punch without getting boomy or blown out bass notes.

This means tweaking the crossover range again but I already really like the tonal balance I am hearing now.

Don't mind my signature... its old and outdated for a long time!

All is up and running now...

Updated the server as well!

But this did the trick, I can access the server from any PC now where this registry entry was applied.

  • Open a Command Prompt window as Administrator.

  • Run the following command to add a registry value:

    REG ADD HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System\CredSSP\Parameters\ /v AllowEncryptionOracle /t REG_DWORD /d 2

Bert

PS, now with extra ServerPC in the chain I might as well start with Tidal!

Next step is to figure out how to play music from that server ...

Done, so far so good... now I can remove the videocard from the AudioPC and play music from the ServerPC.

Anyway, cross fingers that it will help you ...

This works... the ServerPC is connected through RDP with the AudioPC.

Next step is to figure out how to play music from that server ...

... and optimally how to connect wirelessly through Wifi (and a tablet) to control the ServerPC in the end so that all is connected and optimally accesible.

Computers ...  grazy

Bert, yes I can find that for you.

Thanks! Hope it helps...

Try to take care of the updates (via XXHighEnd's - Stop-Rightclick button), or otherwise it will end up the same.

On the AudioPC this was done the moment XXHighend showed up on the screen...  but how to do this on the ServerPC? XXHighend should not be installed on there? Should it?

So... best change would be to use the same vesrion of Windows for the music server?

Lost mine though... do you still have the 10.0.14393 RAM-OS as ISO-file somewhere on line?

Then at least I can use the ServerPC to RDP the AudioPC (if that then works).

Still no RDP possible....  unhappy

I have tried all suggestions... nothing works.

Not even the multiple user option (that works only when the AudioPC is in normal mode).

Even implemented a new PC to act as server in between my MainPC and the AudioPC. Newly installed Windows on it and the fartest I can get is to have access to the files on the AudioPC (cable connected to the ServerPC).

F*ck.

Does this mean you don't use XXhighend generally for listening or something else?

Haven't listened seriously at all ... other priorities.
