But are you saying that you still see those screens after you set back that Presetloader file ?

Updates were cancelled and yes, the same screen becomes visible (only after playing unattended again that is) so the situation did not change at all after changing the file names...

XX only seems to comes back normal when I do NOT close Desktop Services while playing unattended. The moment I activate this option then the Desktop will never return and the error messages from XX appear after Alt-H trying to get something visible.

Bert

EDIT01:  I guess I still need this file? XXHighend-09-z81a-x.rar

EDIT02: I just tried but that did not change anything either. For the time being NO full unattended playback for me!

What's also made (new in one of the latest versions) is that you can go back to Normal OS without being activated.
IF all is right of course.
But you can also Activate under MinOS. Try to use your last Code. It may work ...

I went back to normal state anyhow and activation works with the last code but it all did not solve the problem.

I will let W8 update itself and see if that is going to help (FrameNetwork and such). BTW, I have a Dutch version W8 Pro...

Later...

EDIT: While updating I found out that I can adjust the volume using the Windows Slider (KS!).

I will remane the XXHighEnd directory as that solved that situation before. Probably also helps to solve the initial problem.
198  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: PresetLoader.XSSI on: February 02, 2013, 02:24:34 pm
That should help. But why it happened ?

Perhaps because I have used the same directory from the previous XX folder used with the previous W8 installation?

Some settings were already filled in which they probably should not be with a fresh install?

I thought it had something to do with "/XXData" being the same folder taking over settings and such and all seemed to work out okay so the error was for me unexpected.

There is also a PresetLoader-FreshInstall.XXSI. Copy that over PresetLoader.XXSI.

Okay, I will but then should I first have Windows back into normal state (not Minimized)? Or should that not make a difference?

Second ? First ? ... Can you imagine that I have NO idea what you are talking about ?

I did change the title of the topic...

After unattended playback XX does not come back normally.

See the three images showing the errors (made with a camaera as PrtSCrn does not copy the screen).

W8 is minimized, UAC inactive... any idea's?

I remember something written about it but I can't find back that topic.

Bert

I changed the filename XSSIesetLoader.bak to PresetLoader.XSSI several times but that does not help.
202  Ultimate Audio Playback / Your thoughts about the Sound Quality / My second Windows 8 experience on: February 02, 2013, 12:09:44 pm
Yes, second because the first one was ended due to several boot failures caused by an external HDD that was connected to another USB port preventing my XP OS to start up. While chasing this fault I somehow mixed up something elsewhere and it was needed to install W8 freshly...

Perhaps a good thing because the first install was somewhat older and updated regulary and several XX updates as well.

Everything is working fine again now and I'll start to play with W8 SFS = 430 for a while and get used to that (just to please Peter).

I'll be back...  Wink

Bert, it would be interesting to see in device manager what version you are using.

I can't remember...  unhappy

It was a Windows driver 6.something and now I have the 2.1.139 Renesas driver installed and turned of the power functions using the Renesas utility that installed itself together with the driver.

The power connector (I have a USB3.0 PCI card installed) should remain in place though, without this connection it looses sync with the NOS1.

I can't say that this made the difference in sound because I implied a few other changes at the same time which together improved the sound much.

One is to use another port for my external HDD, before it was connected to the same PCI card as the DAC.

Second was to remove the 1.02 NOS driver (somehow this one was still there after installing 1.03)

I did some more along the way but I seem to forget if nothing is written down.

W8 is starting to sound more than OK now though... ;-)

So, Reset and Apply switches between turning it Off and On in real time.

I can also switch it ON and OFF in the settings menu without rebooting or renaming the related file?

Just click on [Reset] to turn it OFF and [Apply] to turn it ON?

What's happening is that the whole lot is always "idle". So, playing or not. I mean, we know about the CPU usage of XXHighEnd, right ? It is virtually zero. And that means idle.

Got it!  wacko
206  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: XXTweaks do not start automatically... on: January 30, 2013, 10:32:50 pm
Is is okay with you when we conclude that nothing is the matter with XTweaks engaging ?

No issues whatsoever but if so then I can turn it off completely (rename file to NoXXTweaks.tst I believe).

If I don't get what you mean, let me know.

Cool=cool which is clear. I though that one XXtweak is to heat up the processor (for whatever reason) with the option to turn back to normal state (cool when idle) when playing has stopped or not...

I guess the word Idle is then mixing up my mind...

So ... what about setting "Cool when Idle" to 0 (not cool) and judge again ?

Then it kicks in immediately (all four cores +20 degrees within 2 seconds) and that stays active even when XX is shut off and removed from memory. The only way to have things run in "idle" mode again is to set cool to "1".

Set to "1" does not show anything similar when playing starts so to me it does not do what it is supposed to do?

Anyway, what OS are you talking about ?

Window 8 (trying to get it to sound better than W7)

For those using W8 and the Renesas driver for USB3, are you using the latest driver and Firmware?

I am using the one that W8 picked as driver. I have made a fresh W8 Pro install and all works well without installing manually an additional driver for the USB3 card?

Why should I install another driver?

210  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: XXTweaks do not start automatically... on: January 30, 2013, 07:43:35 pm
Bert, that would not be correct I think. Do you mean after a reboot from MinOS to MinOS ?

I always reboot from MinOS to MinOS as this is the state my OS is always in except when I update XX or want to install something else.  Wink

But even after a cold boot without touching the settings at all those XXtweaks do not kick in...

Things have changed more now... I have tried several things (several reboots included) but now I can't get XXTweaks activated anymore! No matter what I do.... weird.

Bert

For me is the tweak active when the temperature of all cores rise steeply until the watercooling system kicks in where it remains at 60 degrees average.
