Here it is. The player seems to work (the time slide is running), but there is no sound. I have tried KS through SoundMax Digital Audio (SPDIF) and it works (with continous glitches), but SoundMax resamples to 48Khz, so I prefer not to use it):

This doesn't seem normal USB to me ...
What happens when you set Q1 to, say, 7 ? If that doesn't help, please show me the log file of that again (which you can just attach via "Additional Options" in the lower left corner when you create a post).

Ok, Thanks.
Just to be sure : Do you have sound through Engine#3 with this DAC - and through USB ? And if so, do you use the "Dac Needs" setting of 24 or 32 ?

No, my OS is XP, not Vista. I get sound with 0.9y4 and previous versions, using Engine 1 or Engine 2. "Dac Needs" is enforced (greyed) to the the option "DAC is 16 bits 44,1khz" (I know the DacMagic USB only allows 44.1-48khz and 16 bits). With 0.9y5 I do have the option to choose, and I choose "DAC is 16 bits 44,1khz".
I was wondering, may be the problem is related to the name of the device (USB)...? With 0.9y4 I choose "C-Media USB Headphone Set" (in English) and it works. But with 0.9y5 the USB option I am given is "KS: Dispositivo de audio USB >> #global" (in Spanish). I donīt know if this has any relevance.

Hello! I had the same problem: the program seemed to play ( time slider running ) but there were no sound trough the DACMagic. The Q1 was at 0 as I use to play with SPDIF. Moving up the Q1 slider to 10, adjusting the Dac settings to 44.1 16 bit and , of course, without upsampling , the DACMagic began to sing. Then set again the Q1 slider to 0 and all is OK.(ŋ?). Too soon to judge the SQ differences anyway. Maxi

Maxi, thank you for sharing this (and you're on W7, right ?).
Joaquin, I'm sorry about the XP thing. Maybe put that in your signature, so I'll know the next time !
I only now realize that I never checked XP for USB, *plus* I think USB under XP works differently from under Vista/W7 (W7 is somewhat different again). So maybe I'll check this first before proceeding. I will do that later today.

Yes, it is true. XP is completely different on this matter (beats me why). One problem for today : My XP machine is so far away from the stereo that right now I don't know how to test it without calling the movers department. So, most probably here I won't have sound either, but it is hard to test (and no VU meters on my USB DAC ). I will let you know ! Peter

Hello,
Here no sound on XP (SP3) either.
I was ready for some noise so I pasted ver504 over ver503. Ver503 was working perfectly with 60Mbit splitfile size. No sound for ver504 however. Q1 slider seems to make no difference as does reducing the splitfile size. Changing the dacsettings to 16/441 does nothing. Any suggestions?
X3pb is attatched.
regards, Coen

FYI ... 0.9y-5-04 works fine for KS on my study PC that runs WinXP. The motherboard is a Gigabyte P35-DS3 that uses the AL C889A chipset. I use the Toslink output to an external receiver. Q1 needs to be at +5 or above if you wish to avoid the artists sounding like Cylons There is no interruption between tracks, either in attended or UNattended. I have file split size set at 50MB. The output device displays as "KS: Realtek HD Audio output >> #rearlineoutwave3" Russ

Maybe relevant: I had to reduce the split filesize in ver500-503 to 60Mbit to play entire tracks with sound (yields 3-5 tracks in a row before the player stops with a timeout). At 100 I got at best one track, mostly no sound at all (timeslider running though). At 70Mbit the player had the habit to stop during the track. At 50Mbit tracks paused once in a while (occasionally this happens with 60 too). Oh: and it is always at the same point! Since the code is different now the filsize trick may not work for ver504 anymore. Please note that I am running XX on my dinosaur PIII 866 PC. Starting the first track takes longer than the usual lead-in of a LP record . It is equipped with the TI 1394 chip for interfacing with my M-audio tough. SQ is right where I want it to be (go?)! I liked the SQ of ver503 best sofar (yes, I noticed a difference between 02 and 03). Still looking forward to play completely pause and stopless with ver504. Maybe I can create a few X3pbs as input? regards, Coen

Hi Coen, thank you. No log files are needed, because I just (again) reshuffled the whole thing. It doesn't work yet, but I'm fairly sure it is going to be this time. Hmm ... Peter
