Hi,
this is low priority but would be nice if you can fix it sometime.
XX cannot play files that has greek symbols in the name (strange header message). I have greek mp3s which are outstanding good.
And it has (since z3 I think) the problem to play files with german Umlauten (äöü)(file is not found message).

Greetings Adrian

It says "unrecognized WAV Header Data". And I think you should bother, not because of me but the greeks! Wink

It works if the umlaut is in place 8, 9, 10, ..., but it doesn't work if it is in place 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7

I have greek mp3s which are outstanding good.
Off: Adrian I don't mean to be offensive but MP3 can't be outstandingly good especially  in a HighEnd player as XX it seems pointless. I don't wanna start a new war but for me even FLAC sounds screamy and 'ugly'. ONLY .WAV
Off.2 Btw Peter .APE sounds little bit better than .FLAC Happy it will be a good plug-in Happy
Best Regards, Criss.

A good plugin eh ? ... at waiting 5 minutes instead of 1 second to convert you mean ? Nah, not for me. Happy

Off.3: I'm just wondering ... Criss, Chriss or just Chris ? or Cris maybe ?
(no answer needed if you don't feel to)

But really ... As how it is now ... FLAC is converted to WAV ahead of everything (when you choose "Do not Start"). So, you wait, and wait ... and wait ... ... and next use Alt-P to start playback from a .WAV which has been sitting there in your RAMDisk for as long as you wanted to wait (let things cool down or whatever (I'm serious)) and *then* "FLAC" sounds screaming ?

I know I'm not 100% fair because you have problems with 0.9z-3 and currently can't run it. But for the precious moment you can, ok ?

The sound is ok but the music is very good. A great musician (Orfeas Peridhs - Live & Me tous filous tou). The CD is not easy to get, hence I just have the 320kb mp3.
I can not say anything to ape better flac or wav better flac. I know it contains 1:1 the original music file so I never made any test. But I can imagine that there can be a difference in sound due to processing of the flac. Anyway, I listen to mp3 and flac too, when the music is good and there is no other source. That it sounds screamy and ugly I can not say for my system. If the music is well mastered then even mp3 are enjoyable.

Does this go to a/the RAMDisk ?

I have "copy to xx drive" enabled and are playing from ram disk. I know this error message from z2 when the track list is too long and the last files doesn't fit to the ram disk. But even a single track with umlauten doesn't play.

Peter,
no matter for me about my name...you probably can't spell my real name so Cris is ok  (I just put some additional letters to be sure that this name is not occupied Happy )
about converted flac->.wav my hardware system (PC) is (don't laugh please) only with 512ddr and one core Celeron at 3ghz...so with OS Vista even 3 min .FLAC file takes lot of time and CPU, RAM to calculate so I blame my "screaming" .Flac to it (because it's all about a speed right? ..and yea I take my words bake for .APE then). One more think about my "screaming" .flac with 512 ram I can't afford a RamDisc Happy and believe or not but there is "pretty" noise coming from my 7 years old hard drive, CPU+fan and power supplies fan(and it's not only from the case...it's in the headphones-Brownian motion http://www.britannica.com/EBchecked/topic/81815/Brownian-motion).
P.S. Finally I manage my problems with the new version... after 2 fresh installs of Vista...(for Peter cuz I ask him for help) It was from my OS Speedy Vista i found in trackers. It was reaallyy fat run even on PC with 256 but it was 680mb and very cut and lite...too cut and lite I think Happy
P.S. My first impression ...my honest RESPECT Peter damn good!
Excuse me once again for my very poor English I really try hard...
Best Regards, Chriss, Criss, Cris...Cris is ok I think Happy

Adrian, thanks. FYI : I didn't/don't want to blaim the problem to a full RAMDisk, but tried to discover whether there may be somethiing incompatible with an additional copy process I (may) do regrarding the RAMDisk.

Ok thanks.
I was just reading it all back, but now I'm confused about whether it's an MP3-only problem or a WAV-only problem; you start with MP3 (first post) but later dedicate it to WAV ?

No, it is a WAV only. mp3 works. I tried a certain mp3 later and was surprised that it worked suddenly. I checked the wav again and it did not work. So, WAV files have this error.

Better send me such a file Adrian. Both titles work here. But regarding that "header" message I think it is related to WMP rips or something, those "officially" being wrong -but XX deals with it-, and during that "deals with it" process something might go wrong. But in fact I don't understand.

Looks like you have the "Jarek" problem now, which I also never could mimic (files sent and all).

Ok Thanks.

The Greek one is solved and needed the same application (but now for MP3) I ever made for that "Jarek problem" for FLAC.

The Umlauten ? beats me.
I know you said this is since 0.9z-3, but you do have your DOS 8.3 Short Names active, right ? (http://www.phasure.com/index.php?topic=982.0)

I guess if you open a Dos box (Run CMD) and have a folder like MyMusicCDs and you perform CD MyMusi~1 and you end up in that folder, it works. So, this needs a name of more than 8 characters, and the last two must be replaced with ~1 (or ~2 if it's not unique).

But I guess it's allright. I'm just trying to think of what can be causing this at your place.

This works.

But I guess it's allright. I'm just trying to think of what can be causing this at your place.
If you got an idea, let me know, I will try.
