Hi,
I just mentioned this in the break in thread but thought to post it in a separate thread.
Do you think that the NOS needs warm up time?
Do you leave the NOS on all the time?
I am interested in your experience.

Yes Claudius, I am sure it does. I even think more than once a week that it needs actual playing for 30 minutes or so. This is not real science, but it happens too often to me.

Anyway, the real advice is to always let it on. When not, I don't know how long to switch it on before a playback session. It's really always on here ...

Hi Peter,

I think the next version of your NOS1 should be produced without power switch at the back. Just fuse and then feeding AC directly to regulator circuit.

Berkeley Alpha and some Benchmark DACs do not have power switch. Quality of fuse compartment and switch contact can affect the sound quality, not to mention the quality of fuse itself which is very obvious among hard core audiophile.

I had the NOS1 running this morning (no critical listening) and it sounded "better" than last evening and usually my system does not sound good in the morning (power issue or Claudius issue, despite of all the "Filtering" Cables and Power Conditioner).
It sounds as if everything slowly snaps into place (could be imagination, could be hope, could be hope that makes me imagining thins).
I hear an oboe (is this the right english word?) in the background it was so immediate that it frightened me, although I was a couple of meters away in another room having breakfast with my family.
About the fuses: I tried AHP, Furutech (called Padis in Germany) and Hifi Tuning Supreme (Silver/GOld). The change in sound to the supplied fuses is very evident. Too early for me to decide which one I like best. I will let burn in commence and then do some critical listening (which takes some days, because those things need burn in as well).
