To anyone using this MB, did you load the drivers from the included cd? If so, do you have ticks or plops when using PA? When using PA I have an occasional tick when a track starts and a very soft plop when I stop a trak that is playing: nothing dangerous sounding at all. Am wondering though if these could be eliminated by loading the drivers on the cd. So far I've just used native windows drivers and love the sound. My concern is that I'd be loading drivers for devices I never use which might hurt SQ.  Just wondering. Thanks.

B, I don't recall having loaded any drivers from the CD myself. But I doubt there's anything untoward going on even if you did. I sometimes (but rarely) get very, very faint ticks at the beginning of tracks, but absolutely no plops or anything when I Alt-X and stop a track. I suspect ultimately this is all down to raw CPU horse-power... and XX settings of course.

Mani.

I have used the intel chipset driver set on the cd for the mother board but I do not install the other drivers for on board usb3 and Marvell SATA etc as these devices are turned off on the bios as they are not needed for music.

I have had a few crackles with beta and earlier versions of XX but so far no problems in this area with 09z-73.

Best,
Nick.

Thanks Mani. I guess i can return to a restore point if something goes wrong or SQ is changed for the worse. What concerns me are the number of base system devices that appear in device manager that are awaiting drivers (see pics-there are about 50), as well as other devices and controllers at the end of the list. I presume all these devices would be "enabled" if the drivers are installed. I was just  wondering if anyone had tried the drivers on the disk.

There's also several programs on the disc that interface with the bios that look really interesting. Specifically the overclocking software and the system monitoring/temperature software.

On the other hand, if it ain't broke don't fix it....I'm gonna just do some listening tonight. Damn, do things ever sound so fricken good, especially the ladies voices. Goose bumps everytime!
