Hi Peter,
when using 24 bit only mode (waveIO card) it is necessary to increase the digital volume 30 dB. Peak extension is off. Is that intended?

Well, I don't know. I just came back here to say :
One small-ish problem : here it works.
I tried all possible input-output combinations up to 192KHz input and 384KHz output and all looks fine.
For Kernel Streaming that is. With WASAPI nothing seems to work at all (error messages). But that could/should be the NOS1 ... (?) I must check that, because I never tried the Needs 24 bits really for WASAPI, I think.

When I first tried 0.9z-9 before activating, the output was very low (maybe 30dB lower than normal), even when the volume control was set to a regular listening value. As soon as I activated, the output increased to normal, without my touching the volume control at all. And all has remained well since.

Well, you won't believe it, but just minutes ago I was trying something on a laptop. Just a testsignal - see whether it worked for a certain setting. Of course I started with putting 0.9z-9 on it first. Gently pulled the volume wheel, ... and what do you think what happened ?  |

I believe that xxhighend is activated - but I will take a look again. I found another abnormal interaction with the Thesycon driver. There is a small tool to interactively parameterise the driver. It's possible to change the volume - and it was changed. Seems that there is sometimes unexpected interaction ...

Crazy thought :
When this is W8 in both cases, I think this can happen. W8 plays VERY strange tricks with the Volume. And might you not know it : yes, it can change it, which makes it not much "bit perfect".
Is it W8 in your situation(s) ?

I'm using W7 only at the moment. I believe that xxhighend is ativated - I can activate xtweaks and boot to minimize OS. But there is a glitch: The first time there is a system message that it's not possible to boot to minimize OS. After rebooting without going to minimize OS it's possible to to so.
I can still change the output volume with the Thesycon tool. Seems that they are using a digital volume algorithm too.

If the reboot into Minimized fails, just try it again. DO NOT REBOOT YOURSELF because things won't work then.
There will be an update for this most probably later today.
Yes, I am sure the Thesycon driver contains volume manipulation. The least you can do is set either the Windows Volume and the Driver's volume at full (-0dBFS) and see whether you can indeed get them to -0dBFS (notice that they will influence eachother). When it is not possible to have them equal, something is wrong and you will never have a bit-perfect base.
Also notice that in the device's properties (start from the speaker icon in the taskbar tray) there's multi-channel sh*t and this too can have set the volume at other than -0dBFS. There's much more in there which can be wrong. You will see ...
In the end you should disable all the "WDM" stuff (hence what is visible through that speaker icon in the taskbar tray), assumed you are using Kernel Streaming. And then *still* you won't be sure that all is out of the way.
