Hi Peter - I have downloaded v 1.186 installed and activated using my existing key. No problems everything is working fine (very fine indeed!!!!).

Just a small point is that the Letters at the top left of the XX GUI do not turn red in minimised. Are they still supposed to?

Cheers

Are you sure ? I mean, you asked for a couple in the past times ...

But why do you say this so explicitly ? As if all is OK in Normal OS Mode ?

Everything seems to be OK because I went right through the activation process. I can minimise the OS and I can run XX in unattended mode.Always in the past it has not been possible to minimise the os and run in unattended unless the activation process worked correctly.

Should I reinstall from scratch do you think?

Peter,

I experienced something similar yesterday, but I was so impatient that I concluded I was doing something wrong... The identification of the location (path) in the upper left was staying blue, but I could go in Minimized OS.

Then I asked for Activation after trying the 4-5 activation keys that I keep (...), but it was staying blue... With the latest activation, it turned red AFTER going in Minimize OS. Back in Normal OS, it stayed red also.

But I still suppose I was too "speedy" to do it correctly...

Well, did you encounter Playback stopping ?

Otherwise maybe send the XX, X3 and X3PB log files from a "play" situation ? maybe that tells me something. But it doesn't seem right to me ...

Nobody else experiencing this ?

A maybe related question :

Did you (or Alain) perhaps notice that Settings had all to be re-entered (hence were not preserved) which never has been necessary (were preserved) previously ? I mean, in the final minutes before uploading yesterday I saw such a thing myself and it seemed od to me.

So, did something went different from previous times ?

Thanks,
Peter

I experienced similar XXHighend 1.186 was Red so I thought it had activated automatically. But one setting I could not make was the Processor Cores, the drop down box was not active. I entered my activation code and then I could select Processor Cores but XXHighEnd turned blue. After resart (or maybe it was a reboot) XXHighEnd was Red again and all settings still available. Now all working fine so far.

I just switched into full OS and went through the activation process again using the same activation key. BUT in full OS when I had completed reactivation the red letters showed.

But then when I went into minimised mode there are no red letters - the xx path shows in blue. During the process of going back to minimised OS I lost the settings and had to re-enter them all.

Thank you for your contribution Colin.

Paul, I don't understand much of this. I mean, of the happenings; I really see no reason how you can loose settings at going to Minimized.

Maybe I can imagine something like firering up XXHighEnd for the first time (the 1.186 version), maybe also enter your Activation Code, and then without anything else go to Minimized OS Mode. But is that what you did ?

I entered my activation code and then I could select Processor Cores but XXHighEnd turned blue. After resart (or maybe it was a reboot) XXHighEnd was Red again and all settings still available. Now all working fine so far.

But Colin,

The "fact" that a reboot is needed I don't recognize (won't do a thing). Mind you, this is prior to 1.186 and Paul's issue (which does look similar). But how odd are the chances that previously (0.9z.9b) you "needed" a reboot as well (or again) in order to receive those red letters ? I really really never have heard of that, and again, it is inexistent (with 1.186 I am not saying that). So ...
Can't it be that you start XXHighEnd just 1 time too few in order to let activation work ? In that case a reboot so-called helps. But what really happens is that you start XXHighEnd that last necessary time afther that reboot.

This is "no issue" of course, unless you are really experiencing (have experienced) the same as Paul (but some other way around).

Strange ...

Thanks,
Peter
I had to enter all my settings again yes, but I interpreted this as a change in the way parameters would eventually be taken in account for the next versions... But I thought of this like a programmer...

Ok, idea/hunch and maybe not even a too long shot :

You guys did something with XXHighEnd started from RAMDisk as a base. The scenario is a bit difficult to find for me, but it would be quite easy to use Alt-x to start XXHighEnd, end up in the wrong version and then go to Minimized.
I can't even tell what happens then, but it would be "unexpected".

Anyway, I fell in such a little pitfall maybe 20 times myself and especially prior to 1.186 that could lead to strange situations. Not so (much) with 1.186 because there your settings will be preserved (see "Copy Settings to" new setting) but still it is all a bit trickey. You can even have tried to Activate XXHighEnd started from RAMDisk, and possibly that isn't the best thing to try ...

Can I be right to some extend ?

Also :

Did you run into the question : "If you have an XXData folder somewhere, click OK" ?
And if so, did you click OK ?

It is this area where I got quite confused myself yesterday, because of coincidences I saw *and* this question *and* the message "XXData folder has been created". This is not correct but I could not solve it other than extending the mentioned message which you may have read (and got totally confused).

??

PS: Actually this is addresed to those who did not run into problems, but sure had to re-enter all their settings. This should not have happened (I think) and is related to pointing to that XXData folder with in itself is related to whether you still used the default \XXData\ in the old version and ...
too complicated. swoon

Well, the last version (9z-9b) was replaced with 9z-9d and this was a long time ago. I am used to verify/set my parameters in a very short time...

Losing the settings is a problem I had anyway and it is to do with using IMDISK - so the settings are always lost during a reboot. It appears that is still happening even though I have set the new feature "Copy settings to" to the XXData directory.

But I still have no red letters in minimised. Again I just went through the whole activation process first of all with an incorrect activation key and as expected I could not minimise (getting the "you might like to contact phasure" msg) and so could not complete activation.

Then I used the correct activation key and whilst in full OS after entering the correct key and then playing music and closing XX then restarting and playing more music etc the red letters showed in full OS. So then I minimised the OS everything went correctly except that I do not get red letters when running in minimised OS. Apart from that everything works just fine. With the SQ I am getting it is difficult to believe that everything is not working correctly.

Let me know if you want log files - if you do you want me to go thorough the whole activation process before sending the log files? also can you remind me where to find them (it has been a long time!!) I realise I have to turn logging on first.

Should be your XX folder (of permanent storage).

Yes, please send those log files - just from your current situation. Ther'e in the TemporaryData subfolder to your XX folder. For the RAMDisk notice that they will be in the RAMDisk; it is no problem to generate them from XXHighEnd being in the RAMDisk.

My letters stayed blue all the time also. Even after going into minimised (not possible when not activated(?) and still blue.

From the past I remember something about showing covers when playing (red borders at unattended) so I did turn that option to work and after playing XX returned with red letters...

I guess my old activation might have worked anyhow but I have got a new one thinking I was wrong with the old codes before I thought about the wallpaper.

It might not be related anyhow but for me it seemed to work out that way.

Paul,

I think that bert means to click the "Don't do anything with Cover Art" to let the Cover Art display. If XXHE is activated, then the frame of the Cover Art will be red when you play a song. After that, you can deactivate the Cover Art again and you will be able to see the red display as expected.

Now I remember that is how I got the expected info in red...

Hi Alain - Thanks as it happens I had already done that but without success.

Anyway I tried a complete re-install of XX and hit further problems. So in the end I had to restore the OS to a previous date - then a complete re-install with a new activation key (my previous key would not work) and now I have red letters. All is working fine.

I do not have a clue what can have happened but it must be something I did - anyway all is working now - thanks.

Cheers

Paul

I have problems with activation with every new version and I think that the hotkey can be the culprit. When you activate, play some music and then restarts, the hotkey is running. I don’t know if is a coincidence but the activation works when I kill the hotkey before the XXHE restart. I wonder if it may be an interference between hotkeys of  different versions.

The red letters only show up for me at the second song from a playlist since the wallpaper still shows the previous played song.
Luckily i remembered this from the previous version!

Sounds very very good, only stops after a while, have to experiment for that a little more.

Bert was right and there was nothing wrong after all, but the red letters did not show due to some complicated issue which was hard to grasp, was very concidental hence did not apply to all situations and ... is now solved in 1.186-a.

All having the red letters can stay where they are, but anyone having difficulties with obtaining them, or is due to Activate and wants to see it's successful, please download this new version.

Apologies for the inconveniency !
