Win10 Activation Problem

At the risk of being told I have missed something I cannot Activate 202 under Windows10.

Having played some music in normal OS I then click the "Activate" button but then I get an error message "Unhandled Exception" which in the first line under details indicates that an app will not run unless UAC is activated. Obviously XX has previously switched UAC off during the install process.

Prior to installing 202 I made sure that EAC was set to normal as stated in the install instructions.

Yes I press "Activation" text :-) and that works fine by taking me to the screen with the Paypal button. It is when I press the Paypal button that I get the error message. Sorry should have made that clear before.

I have the same problem, the error message that appears after clicking the paypal button states the following: "This app can't be activated when UAC is disabled."

I checked UAC settings, the slider is at the bottom.
Setting it one level higher and rebooting is fine, but when I start XXHE it gets changed back to the lowest level again.

Hello Peter,

I have been able to activate 2.02 in windows 7 and access the activated version in W10. The title bar will stay red for a track or two and then I will lose activation and the title bar will revert to blue. While the bar is red, none of the activation features (MIN or core appointment) will work either. None of this is taking place on a RAM disk.

Do you use another build (than 10074) perhaps ?

The activation itself should have worked out. I mean, I see no reason why something would fail (or have changed) in there (not worth much, I know and I certainly see that you even tried twice).

Hi Peter,

Finally I found the courage and associated time to install W10 (100074).

Starting point was W8, XXHE 2.02 and driver V1.04 that runs perfectly.
I cloned the C-drive to another drive and worked with the second drive, so I could fall back on the first drive when things screw up.

I installed W10 from a thumb drive (USB-stick) according the Tutorials (hopefully in the correct order).
All went without problems and I have XXHE2.02 now running under W10, minimized and unattended.

I was under the impression that I need to activate XXHE, following Tutorial 72, but all seems to work already and the line in the left hand top corner shows in red.

So no activation is necessary? I was under the impression that XXHE needs to be re-activated under a new OS?

That was so, ever back. Today going back from MinOS to Normal is allowed without Activation.

The "freezes" I recall far back in my mind. What about a forced reboot in this stage ?
Do pay attention to the OS state, because it can be fine (Normal OS) after the reboot. The message you may receive ("it appears that the state of the Min OS button is wrong - now it shows the proper state" or something like that) is always reliable, according to my experience.

A forced reboot brings back the same situation: minimized and not be able to go to normal, because of "freezes".

Meanwhile I reinstalled W10.

But then what?

Do I activate the seemingly already activated XXHE (used under W8) or do I need to delete that and download a "fresh" XXHE and activate this?

Of course I assume that everybody follows all, but obviously (and logically) this is not true ...

After successfully installing the V1.03 driver I started up XXHE to activate. Pressing the Settings button the following errors popped up:

- Something went wrong at obtaining values 03.

Pressing OK gives:

- Something wrong at obtaining values 02; possibly a reboot is the only thing to help.

Pressing OK gives:

- Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application close immediately.

Pressing Quit and rebooting brings back the same situation.

Is this solvable?

I heard this from one other person, where it suddenly started to happen. But could be kind of your situation (his was W8 IIRC) ...

Do you (want to) use XTweaks settings ?

If not (!) so, there's a file NoXTweaks.tss in your XX folder. Rename that to NoXTweaks.tst and the problem will stay away.

How the problem happens to you, I don't know. Maybe you changed Power Settings ? (in Configuration Screen - Power)

When closing XXHE after the last mentioned error message, another error message shows: "Something wrong with 'Copy settings to' file (see preset settings): PresetLoader.XXSI.

Then XXHE seems to freeze.

Maybe you implied something strange wih Rights. Like you did not enter a Password for your Account, could skip the whole account stuff anyway, used a Microsoft account (was connected to the Internet during install) ... I don't know.

Maybe now you create it with a Dual Boot ? if so, that too was not advised. However, I have seen others do this too (IIRC all with problems, but not your problems as far as I can tell).

Something must be "strange" hence not what all of the others do, including me.

Put in the DVD, enter the Keyboard and Country data and let it go. Answer all the questions under way (which is very few) and/but also enter a Password for the Account (local account - disconnect the Internet cable).

There's really not more to it that I recall ...

I did the password stuff etc. and I think I followed the instructions. But maybe a bit in a rush and in between other things, so still possible to forget something.

No dual boot, I have two identical hdd's, so always save.

Let's say I now had a bit of practice and I will have a bit more time, so I will give it a try.

Well, I repeated the whole procedure, clean install, etc. and ended up in the same situation as yesterday:

- "Something went wrong at obtaining values 03".

Pressing OK gives:

Pressing OK gives:

Pressing "ignore" will cause that [P] and [L] cannot become active.

Pressing "Details" shows a long list which I mailed to you Peter.

Hopefully this gives a clue?

It is my audio PC: Intel i7-2600S/ Mobo: Asus P8H67-V/ RAM: Kingston DDR3 16GB/ HDD 1: WD HDD. HDD 2: WD 2Tb Caviar Green.

I put XXHighEnd in its own folder I made myself.

Can you look in your XX folder for a file name ActiveS.txt. Something is wrong with that;

The ActiveS.txt is empty and CAN be deleted. I deleted it, restarted XXHighEnd and pressed . This logfile I will send.

And, is this now in MinOS ? (just asking, not asking to try that).

This is in maxOS, I did't try that and XXHE isn't activated yet either.

A little crazy ... but possibly because of being too much "beta" :

A bit difficult to explain for non-programmers, so I'll do it for the ones who know a bit about it :

In the part errorring out, I use a program from the \Windows\System32\ directory. However, the program is not found. Not in Stanley's case.
The Path (environmental variable) setting is OK, but does not work in this respect. No idea why. It looks like
%systemroot%\system32
and systemroot contains c:\windows
There is a difference with my system though and with mine the Path variable contains c:\windows\system32
So what I now expect is that in the XXHighEnd program either the whole Path variable or the systemroot variable is not known.

That is not all;
When the program of concern (an .exe) is copied to the XX folder, so the path is not necessary - it's output is different. Now, since this is a part in XXHighEnd which needs to anticipate on Language differences, I suspect that exactly this part subject to a different language, is just not output by that .exe of concern. So I am looking for something in the output of the program, but a common part (shared over languages) is not there while I use that to locate a position in the "string".
*That* this language dependent part is not output will be because all that language stuff will be in the System32 directory, to which the path is not working (or maybe better : that .exe doesn't like to be run from elsewhere).

All together the program fails (I can't read/locate its output) and I can't tweak it either (that I can think of).

Why doesn't it work with Stanley, while with others there's no problem ?
I don't know. But Stanley made a bootable USB stick for the install; possibly nobody does that ...

Trying to activate XXHE again brought up error messages and trying to install IMDisk also gave a message that IMDisk wasn't able to install.

Must be something in my Windows10 version

Hi, it seems like we now are caught in a catch22 situation with the Paypal-activation under W10 (but we still have the txt-file option). IE11 reports certificate error, date, I have to adjust PC-date, which is not possible without WIN10 being outdated. It seems to be no workarounds, also tried deactivating checkbox' under IE11 advanced settings.

I also noticed that it's OK to adjust the PC-date, whatever date, before having connected the PC to internet. I could also go back to an earlier restore point (at least one year back), after accidently have adjusted the PC date to 09.10.15 (started WIN8 with it's automatically date adjustment not deactivated).

However, it seems like WIN10 after internet has been contacted, do not accept this, and we are back to what you and others have reported with time adjustment issues. My PC-time is now 01.09.15 (stupid me, without noticing, this was the time I set right before connecting  to internet for the first time).

If it's not possible to activate XXhighend directly via internet (certificate issues), it might be vice to totally avoid connecting the PC to internet? Next time, this will be my install procedure.  I'm also unsure if WIN10 now will stop in some days, weeks, I don't know, because WIN10 knows from internet that my PC-time is incorrect. The final countdown might have started... 

The only reason for connecting to internet might be to solve display/graphic setting issues, which was totally messed up after my WIN10 installation, the internet connection did an auto-update on that.

If so, I can imagine that. I mean, I am not sure what exactly changed at PayPal's, but there is a new security procedure as of Oct. 1 (2015).

... Because with your Sept. 1 you were very unlucky ...

I just tested it, and exactly prior to Sept. 2 2015, a PayPal certificate is expired.

So use a date beyond Sept. 1 (like 2 and further, but no further than Sept. 15 to avoid W10 warnings), and it will work.

I tried .NET Framework 3.0 and .NET Framework 2 to be sure, but every time Windows 10 wants to DOWNLOAD it's own. I...don't think there's a way around this.....

Unable to activate in W10.  I don't ever see blue or red text.

I installed 10240 recently.  Fresh, not upgrade.  Placed XXHE 2.02 in C:\XXHighEnd, ran the program, did the .net install, rebooted, applied necessary settings for playback, entered activation code, played music, quit, started, played music, quit, started, still in demo. 

I tried several times, no change.  Looking at the title bar I see XXHighEnd 2.02 text in white, never changes color.  Is that supposed to be blue?  I read the tutorial as well and see it was blue text in .9z-7 but other posts on this site make me think the bar it's self is blue.

Any suggestions?

Because of the new install, the Code does not work any more. Apply the same as we talked through Sept. 21. Only the payment is not necessary. Ok ?

Small warning : XXHighEnd (2.02) is not compatible with 10240 yet. What I have over here (2.03) is, but this is not up yet. Do not - I repeat - do NOT use 10240 in MinOS mode, or you'll have to re-install Windows again (or have a Restore point ready to recover by means of the install media (DVD or USB pen)).
