Hi Joachim,
I suppose you added things to the BASE version and *then* this does not load into RAM any more.
Is this correct ?
Also, how much disk space is available when you booted from the BASE version ? (a screenshot (/photo) of rightclick on C: - Properties, would be best for me).

I am not even sure how to check this in a decent fashion ...
But something must be going on, as I have not seen this before (yes, with many things added to the BASE version, but you did not do that ...)

Hi,
the new PC creates a lot of problems in addition. Music stutters during loading of music files. (Access of the HDD)
I will return the PC and think about the next step. So don't waste to much time with this problem.

Sorry to hear about your problems, Joachim ! Ask when needed. It is not a problem for me (finding the answers maybe  ). Maybe installing the MoBo drivers helps (that would be a good idea, actually). Notice that you can store the "downloads" of it on drive D: as it showed in your picture. That is just the harddisk with 385GB or whatever free. From there, install them (just be in the BASE and refer to D:\[location]. Anyway, don't fill up such a BASE version. Peter |

Hi,
this PC will be sent back tomorrow. The PC should have a passive cooling design with an additionall fan for extreme loads, but the fan was running all the time with a:
Utilization = 0%
Speed = 0,59 GHz
Maximum Speed = 1,6 GHz limited via the BIOS (off 3,6 GHz)
In the end the casing was a small heating radiator.

Hi Peter, I'm trying to set up RAM-OS on my office PC. I have exactly the same issue that Joachim had (see pic and shot below). It seems that my 16GB of RAM is just shy of the required amount. I haven't loaded anything onto the base disk (not connected to the internet anyway).
Any ideas?

Edit: You'll notice that both Joachim and I got exactly the same message: total sectors calculated from partition table (26621952). This seems suspicious to me.

Hey Mani, when I first tried to us the RAM-OS I got the same message. I removed the ram from the mb and reinserted it into the same slots and it worked--no more error saying not enough memory. I have no idea why it worked but it did.

Hey Brian, thanks for the idea. But you must have been lucky. Just tried the same thing and it hasn't helped. Even tried changing slots but to no avail.
I wonder if I have one or more 'bad' RAM sticks. Unfortunately I don't have any spare and am reluctant to buy some new ones on the off-chance they might work.
Anyone else have any ideas?

I can see how easy it is to think this is wrong. But this is just how it oughts to be. With two examples at hand now, I notice this : In both your screenshots it says that 16GB of memory is installed but that 15.xGB is usable. Maybe it tells nothing, but my situation just says that 16GB is installed and nothing else (nothing about a usable amount). Also notice that when I booted from RAM it nicely tells that 3.26GB is usable. I really don't know, but I feel something like it could be suspicious that it doesn't say 16GB usable in your case(s). And with that, something very different may be the matter. Mani, what does your other PC tell regarding this ? I mean, when booted from 10565 TRIAL (or maybe any BASE is OK just the same). And no, I do not recognize at all that I made something for precisely 16GB. But notice that when it would be the case that 1 DIMM is failing (without further notice ?) you'll be in trouble indeed; see my "3.26GB usable"; with 4GB less, (4x 4GB assumed/intended to be in the system), that figure would turn negative ... My new 4x 4GB memory sticks just arrived. I installed them in my office audio PC and just as before got only 15.7GB showing in ControlPanel/System. Of course, I got the same "... cannot fit into memory..." error message when trying to load W10 into RAM. Going into mobo's bios, I found a 'shared memory' option for the built-in GPU. This was set by default to 256MB. I reduced this to the lowest option, 32MB. ControlPanel/System then showed the full 16GB of RAM available and I was elated. But then... The OS still wouldn't load into RAM and I got exactly the same screen as before (Joachim's first post). Not sure what's going on, but it's definitely not the memory modules. I suspect it's the mobo still hogging just a little memory (because of the built-in GPU?). Peter, is there any way of easily lowering the RAM size required for the RAM-OS by only 32MB or so? I really hope there is because otherwise that was 150 Euros down the drain... and more importantly, no RAM-OS in my office  Let me know... Mani. |

Hmm ... It can't be about any little bit of too few memory, with the notice that nothing has been made to "fit" into 16GB exactly or something like that. Only if 3GB or more is lacking, it won't work. I found a 'shared memory' option for the built-in GPU. Maybe it is about that, somehow. So you're saying that you have a CPU with in-built graphics, right ? Maybe it is something with that. Still no idea how ... You're now the only one experiencing this (Joachim virtually too, but he changed his PC for another one).  |

Under North Bridge config I can assign the primary graphics adapter as onboard or PCIe, and I can allocate the amount of 'share memory', currently 32MB. But I can't disable the onboard GPU.
I can try a PCIe graphics card at some point... sometime over the weekend now.

I am finally considering adding the RAM-OS but I just noticed this post.
I use an onboard GPU (ASRock Z97M Pro4) and was wondering if it is still the case that the RAM-OS will not load unless there is a separate PCIe graphics card.
Has anyone been able to get things up and running with in onboard GPU or do I need to get a graphics card?

Hello David,
I am using an ASRock Z97M Pro4 without separate graphics card and I have no problem loading a RAM OS with 16 Gb RAM. Well, mine it isn't the canonic Peter's RAM OS, but I think you will not have any problem.
