After many years of using a switch between the audio PC and music server PC I finally connected the two PCs together directly and was surprised to find quite a difference in SQ (hoping this is not just my imagination). This made me wonder how many people have tried the ET^3 and what difference has it made to SQ, and also what configuration are people using with the ET^3. Just ordered the ET^3 cable to connect the audio PC to music server PC, so I can let everyone know of my experience as well.

Hey Ramesh,
I can tell you in advance : I am the only one that I know of who posts in this forum, that uses the ET^2 in the setup you mention. I think people just don't trust it that this will make such a difference, but it really does.
And mind you, even for me it lasted for a year before I had the idea of having one made for myself and trying it.
I do know about 2 or 3 others using the ET^3 in such a set up, but as they don't post in forums I have no reflection of what their findings are.
At least all those with a NOS1 *and* some kind of 2-PC setup should blindly do this ... while nobody does. So a promise : the improvement is a kind of similar as a new Lush cable is, although this is merely about subtlety.
Btw, I don't want to sell cables. Haha.

Is there a default recommended configuration for the jumpers on the ET^3? Also any suggestions on how to begin with the separate ground wire. I'll read up again on the ET^3 discussions in the forum.

In our situation (NOS1, Mach III, more) I would never use the separate ground wire. It would, however, mimic industrial setups.
Otherwise, just trial some wild configurations and see whether you perceive differences. But I think without that trialling you will be satisfied and let it be.

I have ET^3, but it was one of several changes and I've not even had a chance to swap it in and out to see what it does, if anything. Am happy to test/verify settings as they come up in conjunction with others, as is the Phasure way.

Put in the ET^3 in the set up & the immediate reaction is significant reduction in the noise level as compared to stock Ethernet cable.
I would rate this as high as the Lush^3 upgrade.

Hi Tore, I think this can be tested by removing the Ethernet cable while playing ? Not that anyone would listen to me in those places you get these videos from, but ... you must be watching the wrong videos. And you know it, because you already know what difference "cables", while those videos claim and proved they can't make a difference. If you only watch porn then I apologize. haha It is not said at all that removing a cable will work out for the better, because you'd (or might) block outgoing current from the attached device, in this case the Audio PC. Thus when there's a potential difference between PC and DAC then this might be harmless because the difference can balance out between the Audio PC and Music Server PC. Remove the cable and the current will flow over the USB cable between Audio PC and DAC. Of course I am making this up on the spot, but try to debunk it ... (which is not necessary for such "sites" because with them all is inaudible to begin with) Regards, Peter |

Haha, no problem. But there's quite some talk lately about the influence of Ethernet switches and how they simply can't influence SQ (while they do). So from there spring the "pull the cable", with claims that it can because DACs suppose to have a buffer etc. and blablaba. I realize that in our situation (XXHighEnd) we can do that for real. Don't try this at home because at reconnecting you will find a black screen and the Audio PC has to be rebooted. OK, you could try it one time. Regards, Peter |

But you may recall the BlueTooth PAN (dongle-thing). That was for a similar reason and it worked "lower profile" (read about Nick's interrupts).

I now have both the Blaxius 2.5 and the ET 3 in. An amazing improvement. I have never heard music like this! My setup (like Arvind) is all Phasure. The biggest difference is in classical music. I used to avoid some of my classical music collection, especially symphonies, because they just did not sound quite right. Truly amazing improvement. I'm sure I'll find some words to describe the overall combination of Blaxius 2.5 and ET 3, and probably try to separate the two. But for now I am simply going to listen.

Now, we just need an HDMI^3 for use on HT.

I’m tempted to try the ET^3 cable, but I have a question.
If the ET^3 ethernet cable between the musicserver pc and the audio pc has an significant effect on sound quality, what about the influence of the ethernet cable between the router and the musicserver pc? In my setup I have a separate router to establish a wireless RDC connection between a laptop (that controls the audio pc via the musicserver pc). This router _can_ be connected to the main network router by manually connect the ethernet cable if the musicserver pc needs connection to internet.

I have a set up a bit similar to yours.
- Direct PC to PC connection between music server and audio PC (ET 3);
- Second ethernet card on music server connects to switch;
- General purpose laptop connects to internet with wireless, and to the switch to allow RDC connection between laptop and music server;
- Music server has RDC connection to Audio PC;
I tested direct ethernet connection between music server and laptop as opposed to both of them connected to a switch. Did not experience any benefit. Direct connection between music server and audio PC, even without ET 3, sounded better.
