Hi,
First I'm french and don't speak very well english, so excuse me for the mistakes I'll make.
I cannot remove the message at the beginning of XXH, concerning the administator's function. I follow the Peter's instructions in "Vista Users ... prepare yourselves ..., "Third thing" without result. My system run under Vista ultimate 32 bits and I own the new intel PSU INTEL CORE 2 DUO E8400/3.00GHZ FSB 1333 6MB.
What can I do ?

Hi Bernard,
Keep in mind that the user(id) itself must have Administrator rights as well. Not only at changing the UAC settings, but also when running XXHighEnd.
Otherwise I can't think of anything.
You are not using Vista/SP1 I suppose ?
PS: Quite some fast system you have !

To a certain extend, yes. Now you can't set the Core Appointment thing. This *does* differ, although it depends on your system as a whole, how. The only "useful" thing I can say for now : take your time on finding what the problem is, and during that time you'll know that in the end (when you have succeeded on solving it) the sound quality most probably will improve. Of course I'll do anything to help, but I really can't tell anything else from what has been said in that specific topic. Maybe you have a friend around who is a systems manager and who wants to help you ?  |

I am also getting the same message ( XXhighend is not run as administrator ).
I have disabled UAC and configured the xxhighend/explorer shortcuts ( and .exe files ) to run as administrator, but still I get this message. But the funny thing is that I'm able to configure the Processor Core Appointment to Scheme-3 and Treadpriority to Realtime.
Any Ideas ? Will this affect the sound quality ?
System : Dell Inspiron 1720, CORE 2 DUO T7500 2.20GHz, Vista Home edition ( not SP1 ). Model 0.9u-6.

Hmm ... maybe I should disable the settings for better understanding ... What will happen now is that only some settings will be appointed to the cores as indicated. For a general explanation, Description of Processor Core Appointment Schemes. Sound for sure can change with it, although I never found any consistency over PC's from users. It all depends on the stuff running in the PC, and how much can be (or should be) taken away from the sound playing processes. I'm thinking on some debug code to find out what this causes this for you both. Strange that you are (so far) the only two persons mentioning this ... |

I have the same problem, "XXHighEnd is not running as administrator".
Every time when I start the program I get these message.
I have follow the instruction from "Vista users...prepare yourselves" but still get the message.
And like 300B, I can configure the Processor Core Appointment to Scheme-3 and Treadpriority to Realtime.
So now it is 3 persons.....

I am sorry not to have spent the time on this it maybe deserves. After the current problems (clicks, gapless) have been solved (to which I seem to be very near now) I will look into this.

Hi,
I also get this message, from day1 I have used XX. I do also know that others have this 'problem'.
But, since the SQ is excellent compared to other media players ==> many steps forward, I havn't found it worth to make a notice of.

I am also getting the same message ( XXhighend is not run as administrator ).
I have disabled UAC and configured the xxhighend/explorer shortcuts ( and .exe files ) to run as administrator, but still I get this message. But the funny thing is that I'm able to configure the Processor Core Appointment to Scheme-3 and Treadpriority to Realtime. Exactly same by me. I have a quite new machine, which only purpose is to play XX. When I monitor the usage of CPU, I can see an improvement. But it's a small difference between the 2 cores. The biggest difference is when performing other program functions (start new tracks, etc) than just playing music. I haven't listened seriously if there is any difference in SQ. |

From the Release Notes of 09u-12 :
When Administrator Rights are (presumeably) not set properly, a message shows so at startup;
Quite some users get this message, while all was done to set things right.
Now, when the message appears, a log file XXAdmin.log will be created in the XX folder with a contents that might be of use for debugging;
Post the contents of that file, or send it by PM if you think that confidential data might be in there (it can). From there we may proceed on solving this problem.

Ok, the first PM I've received already shows the (kind of expected) problem : "Administrator" which I check for, is spelled differently per language. Thanks very much.  I can only say : keep on posting those log files, so I can anticipate on all the different translations.  Please keep in mind (this is clear now), when you receive the message you will *not* be able to let your system have the settings as intended. This can not be seen (hence checked by yourself), nor could I by means of a program. It can be seen by me by means of "errors" though, but these errors are kind of standard in several situations (with the example of driver services not being able to influence). Thanks, Peter |
