Hi Hybride, I have read your post about the three PCI cards you have tried. Can't find it anymore. Nevertheless thanks for pointing it out. I alway's wondered if the EMU's mixer also is involved with the spdif output. Peter and i tried it also to get rid of that mixer but it did not work overhere. I dont have a dac yet so i play analoog to receiver. Did you tried that with the Cmedia? Than i think i will buy that card also... You said it is not to expensive.. Can you post me a link to that card and that special driver?  |

Gerard, I removed the post, because i have managed to bypass the mixer with the EMU. Although i think i did. I have made a session which directly send the input to spdif. Non of the sliders is working then anymore. Now i'm doing listening tests. Bypassing the mixer works much better! SQ is excellent. At this moment i prefer the SQ of the EMU instead of the cmedia. The stage with bigger and the sound seems to be a bit cleaner. I have to do some more testing. Indeed it takes special skills to get normal audio out of that mixer. Personally I couldn't get any sound from the EMU carde without that mixer, and not including it.
It is a nice thing to get (Proteus) synth (MIDI) sound from it though.
Indeed it seems that hybride has deleted his post about is "second hand" EMU 1212 he bought, with too smooth sound opposed to the CMedia compatible card he uses.

Now without mixer (ahum. i think so) The depth is now equal to the cmedia/dogber, but the EMU has more stage, seems cleaner. |

That's great! Can that also be done direct analoog? I don't know Gerard, but i think that is not possible, because analog out is not a 'physical output' update.. i checked. you can point it to 'Wave L/R host' if you are lucky thats direct analog out. |

update.. i checked. you can point it to 'Wave L/R host' if you are lucky thats direct analog out. All that remains is finding the proper cable (pair) belonging to that.  |
