This is a big improvement - All tracks load as they should on both my computers. However, on both computers now there is a burst of white noise (sometimes just a tick or stutter, sometimes a nice blast) between each track. This occurs on both computers and on all tracks (either with numbers at the front of the description or imbedded in the middle of the description). I restarted them, turned on and off, etc - no change.
Thanks again for all your work- we are almost there.

What ?!? hmm ... Now I'm in trouble, because I don't have that at all ... Can you please eleborate on what exactly do you play (bitdepth and samplerate), and (I hope you don't mind) *all* of your settings with this ? Besides that, please mention your playback means in your signature (take mine as a rough example). This is as important. Thanks ! Peter PS: When you're at it anyway, please tick "Log Activities" in the Settings Area, make it happen once more, and send me both the XX and X3 files from the TemporaryData subfolder to your XX folder. Please watch the modified times of those files, and more than one X3 file could apply to that one session. Better send too many files than too few.  |

I updated profile - since I have 2 systems i am trying to keep XXHighend the same on each to keep things simple. Attached both files requested - cnan't tell from preview if they are both there let me know if I need to resend. The error ocurred about 3 times- once at the end of each track change - I didn't really count the number of tracks but this should catch the error for you.

Crack detect switched Off ? why ?
And what happens if it is switched On ?
An answer "otherwise playback stops in between tracks because of a message 'Crack Detect'" is not allowed, hahaha

With "crack detect disabled" turned off, I do indeed get crack detect messages at the start of almost all tracks and I cannot play the track.
I have done more testing and norrowed this down to the CDs I ripped using dbPoweramp, which is virtually all my music. If I rip on Windows Media Player I get neither the cracking between tracks nor the Crack Detect messages. But I cannot rerip everything. Apparently you have changed something to improve sound since 09-v7 that lays bare these cracks created by using dbPoweramp.
I can only stay with 09-v7 and hope that future changes allow me to get back in the game with your newer software.
When I started learning about PC playback I did lots of searches in the audio forums, and by far dbPoweramp was listed as the ripper of choice for neophytes such as myself who were willing to pay to get high quality rips without the learning curve of using EAC. This is also how I discovered XXHighend. As more people get on the computer playback bandwagon, you will probably run into this with others - in fact it is hard to believe I am the only one currently using dbPoweramp and XXHighend. Perhaps you should ask the others to see if anyone is using dbPoweramp and XXHighend and not having this issue - might narrow down the problem.

Please look for a very small track (like 30 seconds or so) where this happens, and email it to me or otherwise make it available for download (don't put a link in this topic to avoid "governmental" prolems).
Can you do that ?

Just emailed you a sample from a test CD (only thing I had with a lot of short tracks)- 13 seconds - sweep of left channel- then sweep of right channel - then a short burst of noise.

And guys, *never* switch off Crack Detect. It is there for a good reason. It is allowed to be switched off only when you know in advance things are just right, like with DTS and a DTS receiver;
If you have to switch it off for normal playback because otherwise things won't play, please warn me instead ! Even if you don't hear anything wrong with it !!

Music on external hard drive with own power supply. Brains of the system is a Raspberry Pi running Moode Audio. The RPI has dedicated Longdog audio linear power supply.
Signal passes first to SW1X Signature USB to SPDIF converter
Then to SW1X Signature DAC
Then to Stevens and Billington TVC
Then to modified vintage triode amplifier
Then to open baffle speakers with vintage alnico drivers. Grundig tweeter, Saba Greencone midrange, Altec 416 VOTT base.
Everything is silver wired including mains and speaker cables
