hello,

can I put a pci-e creative x-fi card(normally in the green pci-e slot)
in a normal pci slot (like the RED one i marked)

Soundcard CREATIVE SOUNDBLASTER X-FI TITANIUM FATAL1TY PCI-e

so I create more air and space for videocard

But what about the orange slot in the middle??????

Yes.

Because you can put a pci-e x1 card in ANY pci-e slot, being them x1, x4, x8 or x16 (the latter two look the same).
Therefore, you have plenty of choice for your x-fi (but it's not the best choice sonically speaking in its pricerange).

Or, you can put the videocard in the orange one (will run x8 or x4, if you dont play games, you wont notice anything) and have more air around the cpu and the soundcard.

G'day Roy,

no can do unfortunately as they are different topographies. However, you should be able to use the 2nd PCIe x16 slot ( orange ) , assumming you are not one of those mad gamers that runs dual video cards  teasing

But what is the best soundcard I can get??? RME or M-audio maybe??
Or should I use USB to maybe NOS-dac
I'am I little Confused  this subject

Depends on the budget!

I am using an Audiotrak HD2 (€100,= Netherlands). Very good soundcard for the money. You can change the opampsif you like! I have used a NOS DAC dddac1543. The soundcard sounds very good and give you more settings to play different formats.

If I am right most soundcards have a clock-freq of 24.576 Mhz
so is my dac.
I wan't to link soundcard with dac with a xclock from tentlabs.

Roy,

If you want a good quality external soundcard and you have FireWire on your PC I would recommend the terratec phase (X)24 FW.
I just bought my second one for €28. The first was a 24 FW and now a X24FW. Difference is microphone input and optical in/out.
Normally they sell for about €300 and they were said to sound better then any regular PC-soundcard/box and to me they sound better then my Rotel RCD990.
Maybe they stop selling them?

Then build a master clock in the DAC and slave the soundcard to it.

After a VERY long search i settled for this card:

Very similar in specs and SQ to the Audiotrack posted above, it costs 90€ in italy. This little gem has wordclock input and output. As far as I know nothing under 500€ mark comes with a wordclock input.

As Peter knows, I'm trying also to get i2s out of it.

I2S is also possible on the cs8420cs isn't?? or am i confused with AES/EBU

Is there a big difference in sound I2S vs SPdif ?

The length of the cable becomes less importent ,right!
