Download is at the bottom.

The following has been changed :

  • The small F button which shows near the bottom when the Library Area is active, now allows rightclick on it which will bring forward a menu which allows saving "Library Result Lists" to disk;

    A "Library Result List" is a list of Items in the Library Area as the result of a search activity. So, that usually starts with selecting a Gallery (or normal music folder), and it can be narrowed down in several ways (i.e., type Gary in the textbox at the bottom, and the result is narrowed to titles containing Gary only. Now :

    Whatever currently shows in the Library Area, it can be saved to disk. And, of course it can be reloaded at later times. Two main advantages here :
    1. Loading a Library Result List goes with lightspeed (opposed to the normal ways from before);
    2. You can save in there what you want, and it really is another dimension.

    Two examples for this :

    - Assuming you have a top root for yor Galleries, that root contains all you have. Also, it is the most slow to present, just because it contains the most there is. Save this as a Library Result List, and even over 100,000 items are back in half of a second.

    - Suppose you ask for all the tracks of your top root Gallery. Yes, this really may take a minute, depending on how many tracks you have underlying in the albums. But how often does it occur that you want to search in the titles of those tracks ? It may happen, but it may not all that often be actually performed, just because it takes too long to get the result. Now, save it as a Library Result List, and when you want it now ... 1 second ?
    Btw, tracks can be asked for by replacing the "A" in that little box which shows near the bottom when the Library Tab is up front, by a "T".

  • For thos who really want to clean up there music data or organize them more nicely, it is now possible to

    - Drag Coverart from anywhere allowing it onto the CoverArt Area (this is the right most of 3 panes in XXHighEnd -> you might want to drag the right edge of the form to make it visible). So, you could e.g. drag from Explorer, which needn't be single files. You can also drag and drop complete folders with Coverart.

    - Drag Coverart from the Coverart Area of one instance of XXHighEnd to another instance's Coverart Area.
    You may not realise it now, but starting XXHighEnd twice really can be beneficial at times, and this is an example of it. Thus, suppose you have two versions of an album. The one you already had and which is at its place and should stay there, and another one - which although it is the same music - contains much more and better CoverArt. So what would you want to do ? drag the Coverart to your likings from the "new" album to the old one which you want to keep, possibly delete some Coverart in the old one, and lastly delete the "new" album.
    From XXHighEnd to XXHighEnd only one file per time can be dragged (but that may change in near future).

    Important : When a source file already exists in its destination, the destination file will receive a sequence number and is renamed. Not the other way around !

  • Already in the first 0.9y version, but overlooked for the Release Notes, complete folders with music data can now be dragged onto the Playlist Area.

  • A kind of the opposite, in the Release Notes of the early 0.9y versions was mentioned that albums could be deleted from disk physically. This appeared not true, and only the menu entry was there, awaiting the real code to do it.
    What happened next is that users dicussed they's never use such a function in XXHighEnd because it may delete too much (while this one deleted just nothing swoon), which brought the idea of presenting good insight in what actually is going to happen at deleting albums;
    Look at the picture below; It nicely shows in Embedded Explorer what is going to be deleted (which would be the deepest bold item), and the small form awaitening your confirmation or Skip to the next (marked for Deletion in the Library Area), or just to cross away the small form at all (quit the Delete activity) ... during that small form is there you can easily browse Embedded Explorer to look whether it indeed is allright what is about to happen.
    Still afraid ? don't use it ! Happy

  • It was found that the function "Delete all X-Reference Files from Selection" didn't work anymore. Solved.

  • Applying filtering has been put through now also for 16/44.1 to 24/88.22 (but with a theoretical good filter only, and not audibly tested !).
    Both 16/44.1 to 24/176.4 and 16/44.1 to 88.2 work now (untested) for WAV, FLAC, AIFF, and even MP3.

    A bug has been solved that wouldn't allow the filter to be used in most cases, which depended on the setting of Split File Size. On this matter please note that the Split File Size may internally/automatically be set larger than the actual setting in the Settings Area (you could examine the XX loge files for that), with the general idea that the larger (longer running time) the file to play, the higher the Split File Size needs to be. This is a technical aspect, and things are set so that if all is right you won't run out of 2GB of memory even at a 60 minute track.

  • If all is right a memory corruption problem has been solved, that disallowing two subsequent tracks of a different format (like 16/44.1 and 24/96). This could be tested partly only, and chances sure exist the problem is still there. Please report if you have problems with "Allow Format Change" ticked (Settings Area).

  • A problem has been solved which prevented playback (just silence), related to a parameter getting too long when certain Coverart options where used in a particular combination.

  • Another problem with "just silence" has been solved for very long tracks (think of well over 20 minutes).

  • A problem has been solved with giving a remote command like Volume-Up, which would let the next track repeat iself for some part.

  • At last - if all is right - now all the issues with Coverart and Multi Volume albums have been solved. This means, that no matter how you organized your Multi Volume albums and where the Coverart is put (might be in one separate folder at the general album level), the Coverart should be found. Please report when this is not so in your situation, but give the exact structure for the particular album in question.

  • The XX log files now contain the XXHighEnd version number.

  • It was found that during the last months of development a bug sneaked in that wouldn't allow a changed Playlist Area without playing anything - to be saved ad Quit (Off). Solved.

  • A provision has been applied for loading tracks with the same name as some which just played but from another album, aren't seen as the same tracks (cache). This would typically happen at comparing two versions (releases) of an album.
    Note : When both versions are loaded in the Playlist Area and next all are played, currently the result is unknown (might even produce errors).

  • At scrolling through the Playlist (Area) an album without Coverart would receive the Coverart of the previously touched album. Now the Coverart (at the left) is explicitly cleared when such an album comes along.

  • As it appeared, loading the !Played.PLXX playlist (which contains everything played in the past) back into the Playlist Area, trying to play that would incur for an error, related to the Coverart being used from Gallery Locations instead of from the Original Location (a recent change).
    This has been solved now.

  • For those using one folder under the root only, and thereunder the music folders (like d:\Music\MyAlbum01\Track Data) asking for those folders in the Gallery Area has been speed up significantly.
    Possibly this also applies to those who didn't have a "Music folder" at all (like d:\MyAlbum01\Track Data).

  • An error could occur at the startup of XXHighEnd afte files were played with a name less that 12 positions and Copy To XXDrive wsas ticked. Solved.

  • It was found that searching for tracks (T in the box where normally an S shows with the Library Area bing upfront) never worked for Galleries (so only when Original Locations were searched for tracks, they showed). Solved.

  • When the Analysis tab was clicked a first time, an error occured. Solved.

  • It was found that although CoverArt files allow selection in order to delete that selection in one go, only the first item got deleted. Solved.

  • At starting a Playlist Unattendedly (without selection in the Playlist Area) first track in the Playlist Area never wanted to be highlighted (as process tracks should since 0.9y). Solved.

  • Since the stored references to Coverart on the local disk (or better to understand : keep the disks sleeping), playback over a Share didn't work anymore. Solved.

Issue found : When Albums are renamed from within the Library Area, the Galleries the album is in are not renamed with it. Thus, an original location "Deep Pruple - Shades of Deep Purple" which is contained in Galleries, will stay in Galleries named like this when the typo in the original location has been solved by means of Renaming.

A repeat from earlier Release Notes :

Very important : Only when AutoHotkey has been installed, and is at least working to the extend XXHighEnd can be startup with a hotkey (default is Alt-X), it is allowed to tick the checkbox "Stop Services" in the Settings Area, and use Unattended Playback mode (checkbox at the bottom of the main screen). For AutoHotkey See AutoHotkey Install. When this is not done, hence XXHighEnd can not be brought up with a hotkey, at Unattended Payback - no desktop icons will be visible, no Taskbar will be there, no Startbutton will be around ... nothing. You might, however, may be able to use the "Windows" key which will bring up the Start Menu and find something in there to find your ways again. So, be careful, or maybe you will not be able to do anything, except for listening out the playlist concerned, and wait until that finishes and XXHighEnd will popup automatically, which by itself will bring back everything.
A reboot is a solution as well. yes

This all sounds more dangerously than it really is, and with the hotkeys available there is really nothing to fear.
And remember the objective : better Sound Quality.

Edit :
At the very bottom an XXHighEnd-09-y2a.zip has been added, which solves two annoying issues for 09y-2 :

1. Clicking on a Coverart Item in the Coverart Area (rightmost pane) caused a copy of the file to emerge;
2. Viewing Library Items in the Library Area could cause an Out of Memory error.

Unzip the XXHighEnd.exe in there, and paste it over your 0.9y-2 folder. Only meant for 0.9y-2 !
