HI,

It's time to start a new thread. I won't say anything about SQ yet. I can only say it's good Happy
BUt now back to the software:
1. Did I understood right, that 'do no start playback' and 'copy to xx drive' work only with a hotkey enabled and I need to press Alt+p in order to start playback?
EDIT - yep, it seems that Autohotkey is needed.

2. AI for 96 and 192kHz only doesn't work. (with 16/44kHz tracks, which used to work before)

Great work Peter... Happy

Cheers,
Marcin

Findings:
install completed in 15 minutes! Runs perfect in Attended mode. Runs perfect also in Unattende mode, but not with the combination Marcin mentioned.
Nothing happens. Maybe I misunderstood.
Cheers,
Eric.

Eric, Autohotkey must be enabled and you need to press Alt+P combination in order to start playback. I thought it would be automatically, but it's much easier than fully manual process anyway.

OK, I can't resist sharing my feelings about SQ... The new version sounds 100% better than z2 :O
New SFS method works like a charm, we all liked Vista+Ramdisk combination, but this is truly amazing. I keep asking myself, how much better can the XXHE be in, let's say, 2 years? Happy

Peter, how someone with a touchscreen and no keyboard could benefit from "do not start playback + copy to xx drive" combo? Maybe lame question, but is it possible to assign AutoHotkey to a remote control somehow?

hey there Peter,

massive effort getting this new version out. At one stage on the weekend I was dreading you would release it just before the Korean GP commenced and my head would explode trying to decide what to pay attention to ... the GP or 9z-3  Grin

I noticed that the X3PB log is no longer being generated. Is that expected or perhaps something wrong I've done here? I tried with logging both ON & OFF and neither has triggered it.

That log came in handy checking the latency as reported by XXHE itself that's all.

Ta,

Russ

Is it possible or logically feasible to load the coverart onto the desktop and have all processes associated with that completed prior to waiting for the user to issue the Alt-P command?

I was thinking it might alleviate the occassional glitches I still hear when ChangeWP and other processes are still active in the background and actual play commences.

Or perhaps I'm missing the point of loading the tracks but not playing them automatically.

Of course you can, but it's far from easy to do this for a random remote with programming capabilities on the PC side. The most simple solution is this one, because we got it to work effectively : A Working Remote.
I must honestly say though that I tried to apply my own guide the other day (this is about "a" driver part), but couldn't follow it at all. Hahaha. Anyway, I'm always using it.

Haha, no. The only thing I thought was that I could work on the release notes in between, but despite 25 or so pace car laps and over 3 hours of "race", I never left my TV chair. Man, what a bummer for Webber. He still should (and can) win if it were for me.

Arrgh. There's always something with this (not that you will have noticed ... up to now). Last Sunday I found it all to be on hard-coded, removed that, and never saw it didn't work anymore. X3PB is a kind of strangeling because it can work hard-coded only, but if On it dreags X3 with it.
I will look into it, and come up with an intermediate version.

Not only for that, but also the CPU cycles used on memory organization by the OS (see release notes). Too bad for now.

Thanks Happy
I have to ask one more time, is it possible for XXHE to automatically delete tracks that already were played from RAMdisk - XXHE directory? Even if not for unattended, this would be nice in attended mode.

PS
I sent you a PM Wink

Thank you. A bit of a pitty that only yesterday I found the Galleries not to be worked through. I'm very eager to use it myself now because it really allows for setting up things beautifully, especially in combination with the "Open to Artist" etc. new Embedded Explore function(s). I'll try to get this into 0.9z-3a intermediate version as well.

Good that you do. I completely forgot about this. In fact it's the other way around I think : this is not much useful for Unattended, but is 100% for Attended. The latter theoretically goes on and on and on, and in the mean time fills up the RAMDisk.

Btw, notice that we talk about the proxy's and caches here. So, delete those and conversions have to take place again. That's why I want to leave it as it is for Unattended where it shouldn't matter anyway. This is not 100% true, because only after a bunch of new tracks have been given to "the system" the ones not in use anymore are deleted (so temporarily there are too many). It is quite an undoable task to delete them first but keeping the proxy.

Well, actually that is what is happening already, except for the first Wallpaper-showup. And yes, somehow this first one is a more heavy one for the OS. It can be done to show this first one already (or have it's image readily made in advance), but it seems a bit over the top to do it. I'd rather find a mode where this "first" is as important as the next ones, which must be related to being in another priority environment or something. And as I implied in the release notes, now (with Vista) it suddenly occurs (again, you may remember it) that the first one even stays away forever. But not because I don't "do"/make it, but because the OS just doesn't come round to present it (which is an internal and very indirect process via the Registry blahblah).

But remember my idea about the running time (graphically) ? I could also just write the "wallpaper" graphically to the screen, and let the "wallpaper" thing completely out of it. One thing : it can be destroyed then like the OSD Text.

We'll see ...
Thanks,
Peter

PS: What happens at Alt-P can be 100 times more smart by itself, but it really needs some other setup in the base to get there. I will make that though -> needed for the "Engine3 always running" method.

That log came in handy checking the latency as reported by XXHE itself that's all.

Not only for that, but also the CPU cycles used on memory organization by the OS (see release notes). Too bad for now.

Not true of course, because that's in the X3 log files.
