Gentlemen,

Can you pls help me? I am building a new PC to work (exclusively) with XX and Phasure NOS1 DAC.
It shall be top notch. I want it all:

Best sounding OS
Best processor
Maximum RAM
Best RAM software
Flashdisc
Quiet fan
Midi tower cabinet
etc...

-Can someone pls give me a specific "shoping list" what to buy of hardware and software? (Probably other entusiasts can benefit from such a list too).

-----------

Thanks in advance!

Come on guys, are there no one who can come up with some specc's here?
Maybe typing "ultimate" was a little over the top. Let's call it "very good for running XX".

I don't need the exactly name and type of each component, just some basic guidelines.

Thanks in advance!
 thankyou

Hey Pedal,

Maybe in between November and December 3 nobody has a more fresh experience ? I mean, since you explicitly ask for "now", nobody may know about "now". My system is 3 months old I think (or 2), but apparently not suitable for you anymore. Haha.

This is the newest, and I think you will know it : http://www.phasure.com/index.php?topic=1443.msg13980#msg13980
But over one month old already of course. And 18 days not updated. Happy Happy

Yes, that thread is a good starting point. But, then - what about the different RAM software, as discussed resently?  wacko

Hi pedal,

I don't really have much to share I'm afraid. But my Vertex2 SSDs seem to work well, as does RAMDisk. I would advise that you get the fastest RAM that you can though, which will depend on the mobo you choose - I went for top-line G. Skill RAM, but I don't use the supplied RAM fans.

I'm not sure how much it really helps, but I run the PC from a 1kva mains isolation transformer - just trying to minimise any noise that the PCs power supply might be putting back into the mains supply. Again, I don't really know exactly how much this helps...

Good luck!

Mani.

Keyboard/Mouse/Monitor connection

Just the notice that either can have a cable length of 10 meters (also VGA but use a better cable). So, generally it won't be a problem to have the PC near the stereo or in a (more silencing) cabinet somewhere, while you control all from this 10 meters distance.
Also notice that keyboard and mouse can have 15 meters easily (just use extension cables), while with VGA I don't know. But, for VGA extension solutions exist over CAT5 and in the end you'll always get were you want.

Could someone tell me if the Keyboard/Mouse/Monitor connection must be made with a cable or could be made wireless?. Is the wireless connection creating some kind of harmful interference?

Yes, very harmful. Never do that. Still not sure about Bluetooth though (might that exist for keyboard/mouse connection).

Btw, I dropped my IR remote as well.

Yes.

And I also want to ask what processor is preferable for building an audio pc .......should it be the dual core or the quad core of the same price range?
Anyone?

My advice at this moment ? quad.

As a matter of fact I will be checking out 8 (quad hyperthreaded) per tonight as a serious attempt to improve on SQ.
Not sure what will happen, but I have some ideas ...

2 juanpmar :
what about ASUS P7Q57-M DO
it has graphics inside so you will not need separate videocard  .....i think it may help for better cooling inside the case and less power consumption
why not to use desktop case btw?
and what ssd is for?Happy
