Peter (and others)

I have a NZ Dutch friend who is making his annual vacation to The Netherlands in a month's time.
I would like to buy him a couple of CDs (I'll rip them on arrival) and have them as a present for him before he leaves.

He is originally from Friesland. So perhaps (1) A Frisian artist or about Friesland and (2) a dutch artist (singing in dutch of course) , something from the last 20 years.
I think his tastes will be mostly pop and folk.

Suggestions please (along with URL for ordering) would be most appreciated.

Hi there Frank,

Could be somewhat difficult for you, because of dutch pages, and this stuff generally not being available on Amazon. You could try http://www.bol.com/nl/muziek/index.html?_requestid=109352 though, and I suppose they ship world wide.

Allright ... I had to ask my wife ...

http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twarres
http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Syb_van_der_Ploeg
http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/De_Kast (Syb van der Ploeg plays in here).

If it is too difficult for you I can order them on behalf of you and send them out, but not before two weeks from now.

In the mean time I hope others have some more ideas about Fries bands ?

Nynke Laverman with 'Sylesalt' is my favorite frisian and dutch singer. Don't know if it's easy to find though.
She even sang at the weddingparty of our prins Willem.

Another Frisian singer is Jan Tekstra. Made a wonderful album called; "Blijf"

And Jan made an album in the Frisian language called "Keale Ferskes"

http://www.bol.com/nl/s/muziek/zoekresultaten/Ntt/jan+tekstra/Ntk/music_all/Nty/1/N/3132/Ne/3132/search/true/searchType/qck/index.html?_requestid=268671

I think you'll love it, enjoy!

Ok she's from Groningen, right....   yes
Ok sings in English,

But she's a wonderful singer songwriter with a jazzy touch

Her name is "Leine", go listen!

Then after that try "Wende". Same description applies, sings in English, not from Friesland but wonderful still!

Thanks for your help. Some great options for me to buy and try.

Is there a record store you can recommend that I can find and buy any of these CDs online?
