Download is at the very bottom.

Notice : In this version the small vinyl like ticks in between tracks (only for tracks with gaps in between them) exist.

Notice the sequence for existing users who want to load back the Settings into a new version (0.9z-5 or higher assumed for the old version !) :
- Prepare for Upgrade;
- Save Settings to a PresetLoader file (near the top of the Settings Area);
- Install new version;
- Start XXHighEnd.exe;
- Load Settings from the earlier saved PresetLoader file (choose file via the "..." button and click Load).
* Keep in mind that this also sets back the XXData folder, so all is arranged for now.
Alternatively -do not start XXHighEnd yet- copy the PreloadSettings.XXSI file from your old XX folder into the new one, and start XXHighEnd.

The below is a repeat from the Releasenotes from 0.9z-5-1 which only has been up for a few hours because of problems with the install (read : first starup of XXHighEnd) itself.

The following bugs have been solved (most emerged in 0.9z-5) :

  • The Q1 setting wasn't saved in most cases.

  • Volume Normalization for setting a Reference Album didn't work.

  • Galleries weren't created 1:1 anymore, and instead "intelligence" was added to create \Various\ folders when Artist Names were lacking in the original data. This is back to normal again (but also general logic was changed to work out all properly).
    Do NOT use the ReDo function. It has not been tested upon the latest changes, and never has been worked out in full anyway.
    Also notice that at this time not all functions have been made consistent with the now old-new setup, which is on purpose. This will be (or should only be) about the "real time" functions such as showing the WallPaper and OSD which should (??) show the \Various\ as before (versions 0.9z-3 and up) because a. that is for the better and b. it isn't related to creating Galleries or other data.

  • Multi Volume albums now also support Box Sets formally. See the discussion here.

  • Using e.g. Alt-u (VolUp) several times during Unattended Playback could come up with a message that the PresetLoader file was in use. After this XX pretty much had to be reinstalled because the initial screen positions would be out of boundaries (hence XX stayed invisible).

  • Again attention has been payed to the XXHighEnd screen sometimes not being visible (disappearing to the left side of the monitor). Hard to test because hard to copy the behaviour, but hopefully solved. Please report when not.

  • The reported Received Clock Resolution in the log file was wrong.

  • A provision has been made to prevent using XXHighEnd from the \Program Files\ folder. This has been the rule for Vista/W7 always, but was often ignored - that causing the most wild and unregognized problems.
    Please note that this has not been tested.

  • An ever existing problem about "clicking away" in the Embedded Explorer has been solved; while this actually should be harmless, it went wrong with folders containing the same folder names directly within itself. Windows (and other applications) just contain this.
    Since this is now prevented, theoretically it can happen that a music folder structure which contains this, does not show.

  • While since some Windows Upgrade (to W7, but possibly just the same to Vista) requires UAC to be shut of (for all what happens in XXHighEnd), it still could be forgotten, that already letting the small piece of install fail. Also, many more problems will emerge because of this.
    This is now prevented, and XXHighEnd will not start when UAC is not shut off (and gives a message about it).

  • Rightclick in the Embedded Explorer area (left pane with the Library Area upfront) will show a context menu. This was offset too much too the right when the XXHighEnd form was not at the left border of the screen.

  • There always has been a problem with folder names containing a dot in the last 4 positions (like Vol. 1). This has been solved for many situations but a few more existed. This is now solved, if all is right. Please report when you find the opposite.
    Notice that this already could cause an error message when scrolling through the Library Area (and such an Album Name was encountered).

  • Superfluous "more than one message where 1 could do" are combined into one for the "Check Q1 setting" messages.
    As a result the message is not there at all when the Sound Device itself is changed.

  • At Unattended Playback - when no contiguous memory can be allocated, a message tells you so. Now, after clicking away the message XXHighEnd will startup again.
    Notice that in such a case you can lower the SFS (Split File Size) up to your own defined limits, to easily retry (instead of rebooting).

  • With Unattended, using Alt-E (Pause) would produce an error "No Sound Device found".

The usual repeat from earlier Release Notes :

Very important : Only when AutoHotkey has been installed, and is at least working to the extend XXHighEnd can be startup with a hotkey (default is Alt-X), it is allowed to tick the checkbox "Stop Services" in the Settings Area, and use Unattended Playback mode (checkbox at the bottom of the main screen). For AutoHotkey See AutoHotkey Install. When this is not done, hence XXHighEnd can not be brought up with a hotkey, at Unattended Payback - no desktop icons will be visible, no Taskbar will be there, no Startbutton will be around ... nothing. You might, however, may be able to use the "Windows" key which will bring up the Start Menu and find something in there to find your ways again. So, be careful, or maybe you will not be able to do anything, except for listening out the playlist concerned, and wait until that finishes and XXHighEnd will popup automatically, which by itself will bring back everything.
A reboot is a solution as well. yes

This all sounds more dangerously than it really is, and with the hotkeys available there is really nothing to fear.
And remember the objective : better Sound Quality.

Switch Off UAC (User Account Control) before any first attempt of starting XXHighEnd.exe ! For W7 this means : set the slider in there to the lowest position. And don't forget to reboot after setting it Off.

If you are new, follow the little guide which will appear on the screen right after the first startup of XXHighEnd.exe, and perform the steps shown in there. These steps will be at least about the red coloured fields in the Settings Area.
