Am going to try Vista for audio-only playback. Any differences in the different versions of Vista when it comes to audio playback? Is one version better than the rest regd. this?

Talking about 32bit versions.

No, that is, nothing has been reported about differences.
It is true though that Vista Business does not contain some essentials, but this has been solved by adding lacking DLLs in the "install".

I would go with Vista Home Premium... I've had nothing but good luck with this with PeterSt player... I guess he's already said something about buisness... maybe you could do without the Prem and just get basic... I wouldn't try to do upgrades... but that's just me not trusting MS.  I bought a full version of Vista Home Premium 32-bit (I don't think xxhighend works yet with 64bit) OEM System Builder Pack for ~$100. US from Frys Electronics... gl.
