That's an iPad all right.
Android works too.

Some of you (if not all) may say : so what, big deal. But wasn't it PeterSt who told that all this network stuff is a bad thing for the sonic quality ? Shouldn't we all turn off out networks through XXHighEnd and receive SQ for the better ?

Yes that was what he was saying.
Still does.

This is the work of months all together - not that you will be able to see this easily.
It is the work of months because it wasn't done before, or otherwise Google could have helped me. It is about what I told earlier in the various "iPad" and the like topic : "I have an idea, and it should be possible".

Well, it was. It is.

Here are the virtues of this means of remote control. That is, for those who believe in the best SQ in Minimized OS with all being shut off :

  • Runs in Minimized OS with everything shut down in the audio PC. No LAN, no WiFi.

  • No single byte or anything transmits (or is received) by the actual audio PC. This, of course, as long as the screen doesn't change (like the XXHighEnd Wallpaper could for a next track) and no remote command is issued.

  • Everything on the audio PC can be cut off. This includes keyboard, mouse, monitor. Right at this moment this is not under software control yet, but it wil be.

  • The means of control is Remote Desktop Control (RDC) like. Thus, it allows for all there is to control, like you would do it on the audio PC itself.
Notice that while RDC is just the example to make things clear, everything can be used, like -you may be able to see- that here TeamViewer is used.

  • It is fair to call it a "platform" which is completely open to the Apple environment. So, where you here see an iPad used, you can just as well use an iPhone or anything;
While for e.g. the iPhone RDC-like apps can be used just the same, there's of course the possibility for literal "remote control" by a phone. This is to your imagination with the plethora of apps and connection means. Remember, it's a platform - and it is completely dedicated to the means we talk about here.

  • Towards the Windows environment it is as open, although the "remote control" means are less obvious and explicit. Think about the iPad in the pictures being replaced by a Windows laptop that using RDC (etc. !) again and proceed from there. Remember, LAN is down.

  • The Remote Control means have been setup so, that the various devices for control allow that control in parallel. So, have an iPad here, a Samsung there and an iPhone in your pocket, all allow control and reflect back to the other devices.

  • Theoretical working distance is around 200 meters. But think 10 meters at least and for normal operation.

  • Control via the Internet is possible just the same, but which is obvious once RDC-like protocols are involved. But again : no LAN connection anywhere in the audio PC.

  • To be clear : something like a most simple Windows laptop or smaller is enough for this means of Remote Control.

  • While the above states that no iPad/Android and the like is needed, it is to be noticed that these devices allow for (multi-)touch screen operation. This, while any due laptop with Windows 8 (or tablet ?) will allow for the same.

  • Regarding the latter, XXHighEnd's GUI will be changed so that the main controls for operation on a smaller screen (think iPad size) will be far more easy thinking of touch screen control.

  • Fully working right now, and available per (due) 0.9z-7.

Apart from the controlling device(s), there's a little bit of hardware to obtain (and you for sure won't have it). Cost : approx. 35 euros maximum.
Next a quite extensive (better : detailed) guide will be needed from my side, which has to be very precise and has to be followed to the letter. Then things will work out of the box.
Something else is needed (secret) of which it is assumed you will have it. Later you will understand why.

This is exciting news indeed Peter Happy

I think it would be true to say that the majority of XXHE users would have a smart phone (or tablet) by now, and with IOS & Android accounting for probably 90 to 95% of operating systems in use on those devices, means we can all enjoy the remote functionality soon without a large expense.

I should also think that when the remote functionality is implemented, there will be a surge of new users, who have been reluctant to come onboard due to it's lack of remote operating thus far.

I can imagine there was significant time spent in developing this feature !

Really looking forward to version -7.

Cheers,

Hello Peter,

Sounds like the new release of XXHE is a giant leap towards world premier audio player ever ! If all features are working well, you should consider naming this version as 1.0

Apart from the controlling device(s), there's a little bit of hardware to obtain (and you for sure won't have it). Cost : approx. 35 euros maximum.

I guess this hardware should be PCI or PCIe related and not USB interface since it may affect the SQ.

Looking forward to the official release.

Thanks and regards,

Peter,

Does the new remote thing also mean that the whole pc can be controled by this? So a monitor connected to the pc is not necessery?
