Ok, NTFS formatted, copied the same way like before and -tataaaa- works, i.e. shows up in the right alphabetical order.

Why FAT32? Because I have no real clue about computers and the external HDD was recognised by both Operating systems ok, and this one is FAT32.

As said previously, I am setting up a MacBook Pro with a dual boot system, so I can boot into a MAC OS or (just for XXHighend) into Win7 SP1. I have a second internal HDD instead of the optical drive to hold my music and this drive should be readable from both OS, so I had decided for FAT32. Seemed to be the wrong decision, should be NTFS?! I can do it all over again, shouldn´t bother or take too long to copy the 700GB... the night is still young.

Is that the solution, Peter? Or any disadvantages in my setup with a NTFS format?

fat32 sort directory
and read a few things. Maybe this does the job fine : http://foldersort.software.informer.com/

Be careful with it.

Of course this keeps on bugging you when new albums/folders are added ...

Disadvantages with NTFS ? I don't think so. Yea, compatibility. Your NTFS formatted USB stick won't work in your TV now anymore - for example ...
