After new OS install (didn't wipe out data, just reinstalled OS) I have a very strange circumstance: after getting a new activation code and activating and minimizing the OS with 9Z7, I felt successful, turned off the computer and took a break. When I turned it back on, the OS was properly minimized (red/white "x" on speaker icon in lower right taskbar); however XX was no longer activated--it reverted to demo mode! I then tried to click on the red highlighted "minimize OS" button and got the "not possible in Demo Mode" message. So, though the sound is fantastic, I am unable to get back to the full OS. Additionally, I get an error when I try to get into the restore program. See pics below for details:

i was just wondering last night if shadow copies are ON in minimized os. I feel like the next thing to do will be to have a tool to restore w7 outside/extra windows ,and leave the os disk definitely Not PROTECTED. Also i am learning to not take for granted the speaker icon as a minimized advisory. In my set up minimized apply ,but xx wont shut off wasapi. Stefano

Nope, that Volume Shadow Copy feature won't be running when in Minimized OS Mode. Nice eh ?
But question : is this about a Restore Point, or is it about more than that ??

Anyway, looking closer ... this is not 0.9z-7-2 Brian. This is 0.9-z7 ... Okay, not that you said in THIS topic it should be 0.9z-7-2, but you did in the other ...

Yea, now what.

Yea, now what.

Was afraid you might say that. For clarification, when I first tried 9z7-2, I had not minimised the OS with 9Z7. Because I got the 9Z7-2 "14" error message, I tried 9Z7 and it "worked" and then deactivated leaving the OS minimised.....

So this morning I tried to do a restore to see if I could get back to the full OS and got the "shadow copy' error.

Was thinking that I should delete the DATA folder and see if I could get 9Z6 running to get the OS back? Thoughts?

Or I could, again, reinstall the OS and just try 9z7-2?

sh*t.....this all started when i accidentally unplugged the computer whith XX running (DO NOT ASK HOW THIS HAPPENED!)....everything got fucked up so I reinstalled the OS.......

Took Stephan's advice, fiddled with reactivating and got it activated in mimimised mode. Immediately "Unmimimized" and it worked. Now it is staying activated and all is well! One great thing is that reinstalling the OS has solved 90% of the clicks and all plops have disappeared with PA.

I'm half way there!!
I was reading your thread earlier and was going to come back and say
Start again!
forget restore. forget fixing stuff
do what I did, get a HDD exclusively for OS/XXHE (format C:/A512/fs:exFAT) and a HDD for PlayBack (format D:/A:64K/fs:exFAT) (in DOS in another computer)
read read and read again how to start/setup XXHE
http://www.phasure.com/index.php?board=11.0
and if you go slow and carefully you'll be swimming.

I've read the above and then again as each step came up as I setup the computer and XXHE, and I believe that is why at this point I've not ran into a single problem.  Now, I still haven't even activated, but that's because I'm going slow (before you activate I believe Peter suggests to "listen and change settings" first to make sure activation goes correctly) and I am only changing the settings basically one at a time over the course now of a couple days from Peter's suggested start...,

I finally got to switching on Unattended Playback, and I'm already in the Wow phase.  Can't wait to try the PA feature; of course after the volt meter stuff.

I know Peter has probably never had to re-install his original Win 7,,, but for the rest of us, forget fixing it, just re-install.
