Peter All,

I finally managed crackfree playback.

I have set the USB Buffer Size from the Phasure USB audio control panel to 16 ms.

Before it was 8 ms.

For fun i have set it to 4 ms which gave me cracks all over.

At the moment with 16 ms i have none.

 Happy

(I use Scheme 3 again and no SFS rounds)

Thanks Gerard.

So, a good tip maybe for some with "certain PC's", but in the end it doesn't tell all because I use 4ms in the NOS1 Control Panel (and Scheme-3).

Peter

I have a small "tick" at the start of a track or album (like a needle of a turntable landing on vinyl) and an small "echo" at stop (repeat of last sample?). And sometimes I have a "crack" after some 10 seconds.

But I have the impression that the "tick" is not as "loud" and even absent and the "crack" is absent when I wait longer to press ALT-P and let Windows come to rest  bored (obviously I use "do not start playback at all").

Does this make sense and is there an explanation for this?

Cheers,
Stanley

Hi Stan,

I guess I missed your last post completely, but just ran into it looking for something.

Yes, that sure makes sense, because as we know now, this is related to the very "pressuring" Wallpaper activity. So, it is my estimation that when the PC is busy with writing stuff to disk from the chaches (which will happen fairly severely right after preparing a complete album) that processing of the Wallpaper becomes too much.

But of course by now we know that it can be solved with the "After SFS rounds" setting. Still it is interesting for me, because it seems that the faster the PC the more the "crack" at the beginning can happen. Reading your post now, it sheds some other lights with possibly other solutions (than that SFS Rounds setting).

Also, I already know that a once started album for Playback and which is stopped, can not incur for the crack again. This (as I think now) must be because in such a situation there are no caches to write because no preparation is needed anymore. All seems to fit ...

Thanks, en sorry to be a tad late !
