Hi Peter,
I have clean installed W8 and then loaded latest XX. I have the following problems:
The activation code has been accepted and I can select Scheme 3 so it looks OK but the XXHighend text at the top of the screen is not turning to red
XX will not reboot into minimised. A message "Were Sorry reboot to minimised cannot continue you may wish to contact Phasesure about this"
Time Performance Index shows "Not The Best" and despite pressing refresh and change buttons it does not change
I have installed the Windows 7 shell software and it appears to be working OK

And since when do we not need a new Activation Code after "reinstalling" the OS ? (between quotes because this new install comes down to that).
So, quite obvious I think ?

OK but confusing because it seemed to accept the licence key by allowing Scheme 3 to be selected. Ah well.
Of course I forgot that the Win licence key number is different with the upgrade

Well I don't know what Paul's excuse is, but for me, who has never had a problem with activaion, I would not have thought of requesting an activation key either. Per the latest release notes: Download is at the bottom. Activate with your existing 0.9z-7 (and up) Activation Code. Getting a little older, I sometimes do forget the obvious.  Hopefully I'll be sending a request for a new key Monday or Tuesday. |

Peter - this stuff is obvious to you after all you wrote it but it is not always obvious to us and for me well I have been "playing" with XX for years now so I pretty much know all about it but what is it like for those just starting? No wonder 80% don't even use XX in minimised mode.
Today has been a nightmare day - just one of those days when everything that can go wrong has - I must have spent at least 10 hours getting XX to work with W8 - nothing in particular just a series of minor problems. Just bad luck I guess. Never had these problems before.
But there again I know just how good this all can sound otherwise there is no way I would spend this kind of effort.

It would be great if you guys that have made the Win 8 switch and claim its "better" would update your signatures so slow old guys have a quick reference to copy. Though, I have my doubts that anything can sound better than what's plaYING IN MY ROOM RIGHT NOW! |

Brian, yes you are right. But FYI : I tried to have both in there (W7 and W8 settings) and that doesn't fit.
I think I can extend the space for it, but everybody's post will be a meter long because of that alone.
For obvious reasons we also shouldn't remove our W7 references.

Maybe a thread where everyone could indicate its configuration, with the possibility of changing it "on the fly" with a flag indicating the change ? It would also have the advantage of reducing the size of each post... If it is possible of course... Alain |

Well, I did all what I could do in the wrong way. I deleted the XX folder when XX was in Minimize, so no way to make things work again, no sound device found, not possible to restart to get Normal OS again, etc. So I decided to reinstall W8 ONCE MORE!!. That's enough for today, moreover I have a wedding in a couple of hours, at least I'm not the groom, that would be really too much  That means also another Activation Code, I don´t have money enough for so many ACs!. By the way Peter, what they say in PayPal?. Wouldn´t you have other way to solve it, I mean to give us a permanent AC to the ones that already have one?. That would be great. Best regards, Juan |

I don't know what you exactly did, but you should just be able to install XXHighEnd in a new folder and continue from there (including going back to Normal OS).
What about this Paypal money ? I conincidentally heard from someone else today that it takes two weeks or so before the money is back. Is this with you too ? Is this for more of you happening ? Otherwise I don't know because *I* send it back as soon as I see it.

What I did wrong I really don´t know, I probably gave up too soon but I got a little tired, well, no problem we know that´s part of this business.
About PayPal, yes they take 14 days and even more to return the money, so as I said if you could find a way to avoid to be sending money there would be great.
