Hi Peter!

!.186-i is working fine but it is one problem: HDCD CD`s

Often they will not start playing. If they start playing the next CD without HDCD is not starting. Then i have to close xxhighend and start it again

I hope you can solve that problem in the next xxhighend version

Hi Tore, I've had the exact same problem with HDCDs for ages now. I've commented on the problem quite a few times here, but I guess Peter has other priorities. This is a shame because virtually all HDCDs sound superb (among the best sounding CDs I have).

The workaround for now is to convert your 16/44.1 HDCD rips to 24/44.1 files. You can re-rip with dBpoweramp and engage HDCD dsp, or just use dBpoweramp's Music Converter to convert your current rips to 24/44.1 files.

Hi Tore,

HDCD is just difficult to have right for all situations. And what I recall is that in 1.186-i a new bug for it was introduced.
But already solved here for the next version.

Regards,
Peter

PS: Notice that the real problems occur when HDCD and not-HDCD are in the same folder. So that is not allowed and it will never be.

Hi Guys,

I've had some issues with HDCD, so did some (about 1 minute's worth) of research.

Does anyone on this forum have any experience with hdcd.exe (just do a google search..)

I presume this could solve all HDCD issues, once the hdcd encoded files are converted to 24 bit files?

Regards,

Henk

Hi there Henk - will help, but it's really the issue of XXHighEnd and not being able to play "mixed" Playlists (HDCD and not HDCD encoded).

Yes, exactly that is what also happens here.

Peter,

That was exactly what I was hinting at... If you convert all your hdcd files to 24 bit files, you will not have any hdcd files anymore, so the problem is solved....

Or am I missing something here???
