Hi,
anyone facing the same problem with loading W10-14393.0 into RAM on a PC with 16GB RAM?

No, but I now have 32GB. Even with expanding XX Ram space to 18GB, running an album of say 7 or 8 tracks at 24/192 only leaves 145MB of space in C drive with 14393. All runs perfectly so far.
Recommend you add more Ram if possible, Windows is only going to get bigger over time.

Hi Joachim, Now let's see ... Maybe I made a thinking error, but it is caused by something strange in the first place - that size the OS consumes. So, what I saw was almost all consumed (900MB free) for the normal 13GB I created, while that should leave over 3GB of normal space. It left me one thing : make the OS (file) 2.5GB larger ... Nice ... but 13GB becomes 15.5GB because of that and with 16GB of memory, the OS itself has 500MB left. I don't think that will fit. (I hope people can follow, and otherwise never mind too much) BUT The 13GB is not really 13GB (but 12.x, because that is how it calculates) so theoretically there should be "hope". Also, personally I don't see how the system can know that 15.5GB of "stupid file" is not going to fit in 16GB of memory, if it were about after the loading of the file, the OS itself must be somewhere too. Thus, what I'm saying is that this loader does not know about any OS being loaded later; it only copies the file to memory and *that* does not fit. My hunch : This is again about video memory mapping and assumed that your video card has 1GB of memory, this will be subtracted from the available 16GB. This is how it (stupidly) works. So I think that *that* is the problem now. And video cards will not come with less memory these days ... Btw, I have no idea what will happen when the video card is out; so if you first set up the RDC stuff, then you could try, but ... (but it would be quite awkward). In the very end the problem is caused by that strange memory (no, disk !!! <- but which is memory) occupation of the OS itself. I just don't believe that and it must be something temporary (read : harmless). All what remains is what I mentioned elsewhere : shrink the OS again, and try what happens for real with it. But, with the notice that I can maybe shrink it with 1GB (and not with the 2.5 I additionally added). Then put that up for download and retry ...  Peter |

Only 3 hours later ...
I was (am now) able to shrink such a file to a very mininum, which for this OS implies somewhere in the 6GB.
And yes, that takes 3 hours (ok, including the finding out how).
Booted into the BASE and there was 4.5GB of disk space available.
Booted from RAM and look below. 267MB free.
So, same story and I haven't dreamt it.
Something just is not right or for real or whatever it is ...

I found the culprit ...
First pic below is from the BASE disk.
Second pic is when booted from RAM and which requires shutting off Hibernation ... AGAIN.
So what goes wrong is that this does not stick now.
3.5 hours and a 100+ reboots further, I have found the solution. Last pic is from that (booted from RAM).
That is a total of 6.5 hours for something which normally worked in the previous W10 version.
A new and normally small file (13GB) will be available soon.

Hi Peter, it's working now  , but I have the same problem as a couple of weeks ago. The music files (but the albums) are not shown in the playlist area and therefore no replay. With the previous (slowly) vhd there was no problem with the files. It seems that the system is now to fast. I will send some screen pics per email. Joachim |

Joachim HE,he Peter  send me  an email to use to obvious alternative route with the "LOAD" button to show the music files for replay and that works fine. But in MinOS is no access to the Windows "Start" button with the mouse (USB/Bluetooth connection), but it works in the Explorer area. (can't find a 'keyboard shortcut' for the START)  Joachim |

Another thing to note is that the latest Windows 10 versions (like 14393.0) have problems with "maintaining" the taskbar alive in Minimized OS. Now as we know from experience, we don't need much of it, but still it may require some experience to really not be bothered by it. But for example, it implies that all you might need for your audio operation needs to be on the Desktop (in icon fashion). Also, teach yourself not to minimize things to the taskbar, because after that it will be frozen "on there". Anyway, you will see an icon for Taskmanager on the desktop, because you might need Taskmanager at stages the Taskbar won't allow for rightclick (and start TaskManager from there). I suppose you did not believe me ? (btw, Start Button is part of the Takbar). If the Double Click bothers you (or someone else) then please start a Topic about it. All is fine over here ... I would prefer an icon of the USB driver for modifications on the desktop too, or is there another access route in MinOS possible. I did not change any XXH operational/performance settings from 2.05 to 2.06, but under W10-14393.0 notes (decrease SFS, is 120max; in Unattended mode) appearing not seen before. I will define next week. The "Double Clicks" don't bother me, the LOAD button alternative is quite elegant to handle. Joachim |

But all is a bit different because I am used to send some things to the taskbar by stanndard, but this is all useless. Also, setting up an OS for others which should fulfill all the needs is quite cumbersome and "dangerous" (too easy to forget things).
