Hi Peter,

For MQA should I set DAC settings in XXHE to 24/192 or even higher sampling rate?

I have attached another image (3) showing coverart of 3 albums, which are streamed & placed in the Streams folder. 2 of them don't show the red border & one of the doesn't have the \streams in the naming. Is this something to worry about?

Best regards,

Arvind

Hi Arvind,

You (are to) use the Playback Settings as always. So if you are used to upsample/filter to 705600 (or 16x) you just do that again. You can also apply the same filter settings. One difference could occur : for MQA you may like to dial in another filter setting. This is up to you (and in the end requires a bit of theoretical MQA knowledge - which is hard to obtain because so many being negative).

The Red Border you see is not really Red but purple (as far as I can see). It only applies when being in the TT folder structure (Intermediate Files) and I can't see whether you are or not. Purple is for "done partly") Or maybe even nothing happened to that one (seems more logic to me) because it just has that colour.

The Streams part only occurs when you Prepared the album. So without that (only searched for on Tidal) it is not there.

Ask more when needed.
Best regards,
Peter

Well I can see all 3 albums in the streams folder (Temp). In the image (above) you can see that they are in the Temp folder.

Arvind - Nah ... that is not clear to me (I suppose you have inside information Happy).

Throw all three out again (via XXHighEnd !);

Take care that you are in the Intermediate structure and Search for them again.
Now Prepare one.
Look at it all (through XXHighEnd) and you will understand. Not conmpletely clear ? then rightclick and select Go to Original Location.

Have obtained one ?
Then move to Tidal Folder.
Now it's gone in the Intermediate Structure, but appears in the Tidal Structure (mind RightClick on Search).
Only in the Tidal structure you should really play/use it (though technically you can play from Intermediate as well).

What should be avoided is Prepare to the Tidal Structure because it isn't made for that (maybe it works, maybe it brings anomalies - and not saying that you were doing that wrongly).

Regards,
Peter

Arvind,

I checked it for you, and it is so that a Prepared Album automatically changes from the "native" folder to the \Streams folder. Well, almost automatically because it needs a refresh of the Library Area (like DoubleClick in the search field accomplishes that).

So first one below shows the end result of Shades of Deep Purple. The Book of Taliesyn wasn't touched yet.
Second shows The Book of Taliesyn when it was Prepared.
Third shows the lot after a refresh.
And all is still in the Intermediate Structure.

Peter

Hi Peter,

I prepared streams of 2 albums in the Intermediate folder, image attached (1).

Out of the 2 albums only one (Deep Purple in rock)  moved to the streams folder, the other (Burn) didn't move. In spite of repeated attempts.

When I tried to play the one that moved to the streams folder, from the Music Server PC, it doesn't play & I get a msg, which is attached (2). Even after rebooting, the same msg appears.

When I tried to play it from the Audio PC, it also doesn't play either. No msg in Audio PC.

Best regards,

Arvind

Hi Arvind,

Again I can't do much with this because you take too much assumptions without shown proof. Of course, if you'd know for sure what you are doing I'd believe you unconditionally. But you don't and so I can't. Happy

You mix up so many things in one go now (and you don't see it). Here's your sequence again :

1. Throw all out once again, please;

2. Search for normal albums (not MQA !) - Prepare one and one only.

3. Move that to your Tidal folder. Reattempt this when you receive an error message (as the message itself advises) unless it really can't be done and then show me the message.

4. Take care that on the Audio PC you have denoted the Tidal folder. Go there explicitly by means of the Search button and the "Tidal" RightClick selection.

5. Play the album for a bit, and play it on your Audio PC *only*.

Note : Your music Server PC was not set up for SSXHighEnd Audio Playback (never mind you think it was) - so don't even try it (and lock out things mean while !).

You will see that this works now.
That assumed, proceed to step two. Pick that step yourself, as long as it implies one new step only and not four+ (really !) like now. Postpone MQA as long as possible because it implies more potential anomaly. First get used to Tidal itself, please.
We could call it baby steps for now but it is not about that. It is about the one thing obfuscating the other and with new things nobody can bear that. no

Best regards,
Peter (here to help out further)

Hi Arvind,
I hate to butt in like this but when I see something I need to say something.

From your first picture, "Burn" album is not prepared (no skinny red border yet). That maybe why it refuses to be moved.

Respectfully,
Zheng

Hi Peter,

You were right, I was going ahead too fast & obviously making errors. Normal (non MQA) files work perfect without any problem. I’m going to continue for some more time & get the hang of Tidal.

Then the next step ahead.

Hi Peter,

I know its way too many questions...
Now that audio PC has no internet connection, Tidal, MQA album search TT and prepare are not possible anymore.

Is it general practice to do these tasks in music pc in a second install of XXHE? Are these activies possible in a Windows version other than the recommended ones. My music pc is running win 1709 (OS Build 16299.309). Please advise.

Thanks,
Zheng

Is it general practice to do these tasks in music pc in a second install of XXHE?

Hi Zheng - Yes, exactly that and explicitly.
So the Music Server PC does not only hold the music (disks/storage) if it were for me, it is also the one connected to the Internet and does the Tidal thing. This indeed requires an activated XXHighEnd on that PC, but you get it for free for your "household". The Windows version does not matter (from of XP) and the speed of the PC hardly (it can be "slow").
The PC does not need to be set up for playback really because you don't use that. So the SQ coming from it is irrelevant. It must be able to play though (say via the MoBo's sound device) for the general setup. But you wouln't need lousdpeakers/headphones for it.

Regards,
Peter

I know its way too many questions...
Not at all. But try to have them in a relevant (new) topic. Already for me it is crucial to find back things (years) later, let alone for yourselves ... Happy
