I just realised I can't send you a log file from Xxhighend as I can't get it installed.

Robert,

XXHighEnd-210e-X.rar

What happens with that one ?
Paste over your current 2.10(x) folder, unzip in there and try it.

Peter I get the same message, no install. I tried it with UAC on and off. Windows defender apps are off except for Firewall & Network protection. The internet feed is from my music server which does have Windows defender fully on.
I do have all unnecessary/unwanted W10 applications turned off on this disc drive.

Hi Robert,

What is the Build of that Windows 10 ?
I think these days a command prompt will show it readily in the prompt itself. But otherwise in there run WinVer.

Hopefully I can find a machine with the same Build over here and try it ...

Hi Peter,

Think Robert already mentioned it is latest W10 update. And it is exactly the same thing that happened to my 14393.0 AudioPC: I have turned off (uninstalled) some of Win bloatware like 3D, OneDrive etc etc. I'm typing from some old W7 PC and cannot show list of 'Apps' however stopping or uninstalling one of them leads to 'missing component' error and inability to run/install XXHE.

Brgds,
George

Think Robert already mentioned it is latest W10 update.

OK, then I am curious how you'd think I know what the latest update is for you (or Robert), say one week after. Anyway I have no clue (obviously).
Mine is 16299.341 (always online). So worthless in this regard.

And it is exactly the same thing that happened to my 14393.0 AudioPC:

OK, now I don't understand what you're saying. You mean that 2.10c does not work for you on even 14393.0 ?

I suppose I am lost now. dntknw

It just works here on that Build (not activated, no Playback attempt).
It is only that I don't see the Build number in the Playlist Area after pressing Clear. So this is odd anyway.

You guys did check all the .exe's for being Blocked, right ?

Hi Peter,

- If your PC is constantly on internet, it should update to 1803 (17134.48) as last update. Update to 1803 was on May 23rd: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4100403/windows-10-update-kb4100403
- I mentioned my case of inability to run (install) XXHE on AudioPC in this topic and is related to our e-mail conversation where I sent to you small screenshot of the same error like Robert's (my photo in this topic)
- Both of us, Robert and I, removed some of W10 built-in 'Apps' under Windows Features, like '3D' app, 'OneDrive' app and several others that are not audio related. It looks like removing one of them (hopefully one) somehow leads to inability to install XXHE - instalation complains "The specified module could not be found ..." ful text here: http://www.phasure.com/index.php?topic=4043.msg43325#msg43325

And to clarify a bit further - it is the same uninstalled app(lication) that causes subject error regardless of W10 build - same error exists in 14393.0 and 17134.48 (.81 as last update)

There isn't any detail information (via a button) on the message possible

Not that I can find. May be quicker for you to have a look with Teamview in the next week when it suits. Not tonight for me.

Summarized :

Yes, it is quite confusing, also because the help George offered (or tried to via referring to his emails) didn't ring belles really because it requires his elaboration in the topic in here PLUS it assumes that Robert indeed eliinated the same from his OS installe. Mind you please : Robert, indeed it looks like your sort of half-cooked tried to eliminate things from the OS and you shouldn't No-thing. At least that is what George is suggeseting, him knowing quite sure that it is about one of the things he eliminated. Now, with the help of his emails, this is the conclusion of that :

Reinstall the OS and let all be as it is. Now install XXHighEnd.
Works ? then my contribution : then you can eliminate things piece by piece until it stops working and next hope you can set it back. Of course start out with making a Restore Point.

So do notice (and George, correct me if I am wrong) :
George too could not solve the problem and he has no real idea what was eliminated from the OS that causes this issue. George reinstalled the OS and after that has been very careful.

Additionally I tell you guys that you should leave the UAC alone, unless you can predict for 100% what it does. The UAC is required to run apps and when that is not alllowed, you plainly get those literal errors (depending on what you do). So respect both : do not eliminate anything and let UAC run.
Also to be hopefully clear : Sliding the UAC slider to the bottom is not shutting off UAC as how XXHighEnd accomplishes it. So XXHighEnd is worse on the job. Read : when you'd use the Stop button in XXHighEnd for it, I guarantee that nothing normally works any more. The slider is a bit up to you, but may imply the same depending on the "app". And if not today, then tomorrow (new W10 update).

Hope this helps now ?
Regards,
Peter

PS: OffTopic George, the W10 PC I have here is also always on (but see next sentence), but did not receive this update yet. The funny thing with it is that it's set to receive the update in "quiet hours" but in those hours it is always off (for the purpose). So somehow this seems yo help against updates ?
Btw, this PC (laptop) is a normally bought one and has never been part of some fast ring etc. experience. Otoh, it has been updated numerous times. Some times each day of the week.
