Peter

Here is 09-w5 problem I had been in touch with you by direct mail earlier.

Peter

I have now upgraded my computer to run VISTA 64x:
Tyan motherboard with dual AMD OPteron 2GHz
6 GB RAM (5GB available to VISTA)
SATA mirror 700 GB to boot
SATA mirror 230 GB for data (previuosly used for XP boot).
M-Audio Delta 192 PCI (internal) soundcard-with public BETA M-Audio VISTA 64 driver

After installing XXHE 0.9w-5 regullar FLAC CD 44.1/16 files runs OK.
However, running hi res 96/24 and 192/24 files - test files from 2L in Norway - problematic.
Although able to load and play 96/24 FLAC file, problematic symptoms is that FLAC logo not visible and progession bar not moving.
Attempt to load 192/24 FLAC file crashes Engine 3. The following a VISTA 64 description of prblem:

Problem signature:
  Problem Event Name:   APPCRASH
  Application Name:   XXEngine3.exe
  Application Version:   0.0.0.0
  Application Timestamp:   494a5768
  Fault Module Name:   KERNEL32.dll
  Fault Module Version:   6.0.6001.18000
  Fault Module Timestamp:   4791a81d
  Exception Code:   e0434f4d
  Exception Offset:   0002f35f
  OS Version:   6.0.6001.2.1.0.256.1
  Locale ID:   4105
  Additional Information 1:   fd00
  Additional Information 2:   ea6f5fe8924aaa756324d57f87834160
  Additional Information 3:   fd00
  Additional Information 4:   ea6f5fe8924aaa756324d57f87834160

Question:
Is this a M-Audio Delta 192 driver problem, or do you see an alternative solution than me reporting this as a driver problem to the M-Audio development team?

No, I don't think this is an M-Audio driver problem. It looks like

a. a too much memory used problem;
b. a problem which is solved by now (in 0.9w-8 and possibly -7).

In either case, use the latest version and set "Split files at size" to 100MB.
If that still goes wrong in the same fashion, please let it know !

Peter

Running 09-w6 and 09-w8 with 100 MB (instead of 700 MB) split file has solved the problem.
Thank you for your dedication to continued improvement of XXHIGHEND.
Even if I am currently just playing 16/44.1, the player makes regular 16/44.1 sound so good that ability to play esoteric 24/96 and 24/192 less urgent (at least for now).
