The other prob is that on on pc I get an error massege when I start in normal mode saying "Unhandled exception occured in your application...". So I can't use it on this pc at all unhappy
Thank you and greetings

Hi there Adrian !

Assuming you want to drag from Explorer, the sequrity rights are not equal. Thus, when you start Explorer also with Administrator Rights, then it works. Better is to switch off UAC though. All is described here : Vista Users ... prepare yourselves ....

About the error ... this most probably has the same cause. In this case though, it looks like you may have Activated XXHighEnd with other (higher) rights than now, at playback.
If you applied the UAC thing above and this error still occurs, you could try to delete that folder, and install XXHighEnd again (with the UAC thing applied properly).

I hope this helps !

What I can imagine is that at startup you receive a message something like "Couldn't restore all settings" and then you can press continue or cancel. Now, when you press continue, the thing you have may happen. When you press cancel the problem should be over (but you will have to set the settings once from the start).

Does this help ?

Ya I've had this too.  I either have to move the folder back to the original place or "reinstal" XXHE and choose to redo settings.  Now I always remember to "clear" XXHE playlist before moving files.

I have mentioned this to Peter also. In the interim, you can get around the bug by deleting the "!CurrentlyPlaying.PLXX" file ( normally in your install directory) and restarting XXHE. No need to 'reinstall' everything.

xx crushes direct at start with  a message that the folder doesn't exist

But can I ask what means "crashes" in this case ? When there's a message there's no crash.
Also, I think if you clear the Playlist Area after this message, the problem has gone. True ? Untrue ?

It is true that Russ told me this, but I can't invoke a real error, apart from a normal one, which then can be avoided (press CLEAR).
Btw, I don't think you would want me to remove those tracks from the Playlist that are not there anymore. You wouldn't understand ...

?

PS: If I am right about the CLEAR and all helping, I could make the message (which now is a system message really) more clear, including a hint what to do (or make the non-existing tracks highlighted, leaving you to right-click and Delete from Playlist). But I sense that you mean something different. Russ ?

xx crushes direct at start with  a message that the folder doesn't exist

Russ ?

I'm recalling a time on the laptop when it happened.  The message would pop up saying it couldn't find the ?file; when I clicked ok to clear the message, XXHE would close too.  Not given a chance to clear playlist.

Upon starting 0.9v-3a, if the path specified in the most recent playlist ( !CurrentlyPlaying.PLXX ) was no longer valid, the program would bring up an error condition window and request for the program to be closed. It was necessary to delete that playlist entry before XXHE would stay up and continue as normal.

With 0.9v-4, that same condition now brings up a different error message window titled "Show CoverArt" and says "Could not find a part of the path 'X:\XXXXXXX\XXXXXXX' etc. Clicking on the OK button now allows you to access XXHE as normal and you can then click on the 'clear' button to remove the entries in the current playlist. This solution has effectively solved the bug seen in 0.9v-3a.

Thanks Peter.

Cheers,

Russ

Yes it is like this. I tried it once more this time with 0.9v-4. The only thing that still happens is vista telling that engine3 stopped working and asks if this program should be closed. After selecting "close" you can use xx onward.

Just after you bring up XXHighEnd again ? I just cannot imagine this combination. For esample (*if* related at all) ... if you don't select "close" for XXEngine3, you would be able to use XXHighEnd anyway. Both are not related by any means. Please allow me to say (and no offence meant !) : this cannot be true. However, you must be dealing with something here I gues ...

Hi Peter,
I tried it once again with the newest version 0.9v-6a. It is still like that: drag file into the playlist, play the file...everythings ok. close xx and move or delete the file. Start xx again. Then select the file and click play...error accured engine3.exe stops working...try it if yo don't beleave me.
Greetings Adrian

Ah ...fool ... I only now understand what's actualy happening. You're *playing* ...
Yes, of course. Never thought about that. And if you then see that I was building the log the other day, including the message "Music file found" (you can see it in there), and I was overthinking that maybe there should be an official check for that in the program, because it wasn't there ... *and* I was thinking : nah, that can't go wrong because it was just checked by XXHighEnd ...fool

Will be solved in the next version Adrian.
