Still at work but can say that i didn't go into the sound device advanced tab and check or uncheck any boxes. Nor did i forget to restart the autohotkey this morning. When I get home I'll check the sound device advanced tab. What are the proper settings in that tab.

Not much of a whiskey man but do love to go down the basement and dabble in good herbs. Happy We find it affords a more intense and accurate listening experience.

Thanks Peter. Will let you know when I get home from work this evening.
1203  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Strange but true on: April 07, 2009, 01:32:09 pm
Listened to XX last night for about six hours. 09--6b. Eva Cassidy, John Coltrane, David Gray, etc. All worked flawlessly. This morning began the day with Dylan: Tell Tale Signs and got the following error messages ""Wrong Stream, Status Two" closed it and "unsupported format" popped up. I closed and restarted XX and tried playing a different "album" and got the Engine 3 stopped working message. Got this message no matter what I tried to play. Then went into the settings and ticked "Debug", not that I know what that checkbox does but, hey, sure sounds good! Well, after initiating Bebug,  music now plays but the only commands that work in unattended, after XX disappears, is alt/x. With XX on screen all works EXCEPT when I play Dylan: Tell Tale Signs. I get the same error messages previously described.

Questions:

1. Tell Tale signs was ripped as a 16/44.1 wave. Why will all else play but I get an unsupported format message for this album?

2. How do I get all of my commands back in unattended?

Thank God I love to dance.  Wink

Hi Peter, first let me say the sound I'm getting out of this Dell Laptop is unbelievable.

However, still no luck playing a 24/96 file followed by a 16/44.1. Now I am getting the following error message: "Invalid ARG" which, when closed, is followed by "2/16/96000/384000/4."

Going from 16/44.1 to 24/96 works fine. Thanks!

1205  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Playlist issue on: April 01, 2009, 12:46:01 pm
Hi Peter, dowloaded "6" last night and unzipped it this morning before reading your post about throwing 6 away. Must say that many of the 5b issues have been worked out. However, I experienced the same "white noise" Russ described but through a different process. Using a playlist with both 16/44.1 and 24/96 wave files all was well when a 16/44.1 track ended and a 24/96 track started ( there was the sound of a little click). However, going from a 24/96 track to a 16/44.1 caused an explosion of white, coffee spilling, noise.

Very much looking forward to 6b. Am off to New Orleans for a work conference but plan on catching some of the best jazz in the world in the evenings. Be back Sunday.

Thanks Peter, am patient and can wait for the different sample rate issue to be resolved. Regarding the autohotkey issue I didn't forget to restart it when I change between versions. In 9x-5b, when I hit Alt-X the program is started and all is well. But when i play a track in unattended it begins and everything disappears as its supposed to, but the only command that works is Alt-X. If I hit ALT-e or s or o nothing happens. Just letting you know. Am content to use 9x-4.

Again, thanks for all the time and consideration you give to each and every issue that gets posted!

Oops! Maybe some day I'll figure out how to "quote". First paragraph in the previous post is supposed to be a quote from your last message in the thread.

Now, some of these things can also be done without bringing up XXHE. Example : Alt-S for Stop. Music just stops, and XXHE stays away. No necessity to come up again, you just wanted to stop the music.
Pause - same./quote]

The problem has been that in 9x-5b, in unattended, ALT-s or e or o have all stopped working. I have gone back to 9x-4 and all works again. However, in 9x-4 the same problem exists when putting a 16.44.1 file in the same playlist with a 24/96 file: the "Engine 3 stopped running" message appears between tracks.

At some point when that issue is resolved I'll finish those playlists, but I'm sure you have a lot that your working on! Am looking forward to 9x-6. Thanks.

Not sure I understand, if I'm in unattended and I want to bring xx back to the screen, what's the best way?
1210  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: Playlists? on: March 29, 2009, 03:10:30 pm
Don't know if this is related, but in unattended mode, when I pause or stop a playing track, the tasK bar and desktop reappear but XX does not. Assume the program is closing because it does not show up in Windows Task Manager Application list.

With "Allow Format Change" ticked, I get the "Engine 3 Stopped working" message. With it unticked, I get "Format Change not Allowed". This is consistent in both attended and unattended mode.

I started recreating WMP playlists in XX. However, I'm finding that if I put a 16/44.1 wave file in the same playlist as a 24/96 wave file, it won't have "continuous playback"; as the first song,16/44.1, ends I get the "Engine #3 stopped working" error message. After closing the message and hitting play on the next track, 24/96, play resumes. Why is that? Can it be avoided?

Upped my memory from 2 to 4 gigs and my clicks and tiny interrupts seem to have disappeared. Also, it seems that the more I use xx the smoother it seems to run, with fewer and fewer error messages; but, maybe I'm imagining that.
1214  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: What does Invert mean ? on: March 28, 2009, 11:59:18 am
Thanks for such a thorough explanation. Of course I want to ask at what point in moving the Q1 slider down should one consider checking invert but it doesn't sound like thats "known". I'll experiment with it.

Actually, if you were in the US and got into trouble, I would be the guy you would want to meet. I work to get guys off death row and into the general prison population, if they are guilty, or out of jail if they are innocent.

About the Invert ... hey, you are right. No ToolTip. Pwew. It means switching absolute phase (so for both channels + and - switch).

Sorry to interrupt, but what does this (switching absolute phase) mean or do? In the US I work on death penalty cases for the public defender, I don't know much about either computers or audio engineering. But I do love music and have gone to another level with xxhighend! Your patience appreciated.
