Occasionally when I click on the Library tab and then click on an artist or album in the drop down explorer menu, xx completely crashes and window informs me that it must be closed. Anyone else seen this problem?

Don't know if this will help, but there may be more than one problem going on for you, Leon. I got rid of occasional clicks and pops by running the DPD Latency Checker program (downloaded from the net after google search)that somebody in the XX community recommended (probably Peter). That program helped me to determine that I needed to disable my wireless soundcard to have music free of occasional clicks and pops.

Hi Peter, here are the numbers you requested when switching between 16/44 and 24/96 files, and vice versa. I don't think the DAC has anything to do with this issue because I ran the test once using the DAC and once just using the internal sound card in my laptop and got the exact same results. Here are the numbers:
Song 1, 16/44, length 3:26.42 to Song 2, 24/96, length 4:29.63 generates: 2/32/44100/352800/8 and 2/24/96000/576000/6
Song 2, 24/96, length 4:29.63 to Song 3, 16/44, length 5:45.04 generates: 2/32/9600/768000/8 and 2/24/44100/264600/6
Playing and stopping each song respectively generates: Song 1: 2/32/44100/352800 Song 2: 2/32/96000/768000 Song 3: 2/32/44100/352800
Hope this helps.

Sorry I wasn't clear about that Peter. I tried the most recent version and it still doesn't fix the issue of switching between 16/44 and 24/96 tracks in the same playlist. Am currently out of town and won't be able to test again till late Monday.

Not sure I followed all in your reply, but thanks for continuing to educate me. It seems to me that understanding whats going on with this and learning to manipulate it so that the correct phase is automatically detected and used would be a huge step forward. I cannot tell you how significant the difference is here when the phase is correct. What I am hearing/experiencing cannot be simply a matter of personal preference. Everything is so much more transparent and clear when the phase is correct and the vocals are just so much more"present" that you'd swear the performer is in the room. It's really unbelievable!

I am finding a HUGE difference with vocalists (Eva Cassidy, Diana Krall, Patty Griffin, Alanis Moressette, etc) when Invert is or is not ticked. I'm having to preview the cd to decide whether to tick or untick Invert. When the phase is correct the vocals are STUNNING. It seems a little weird, though, that this setting has to be frequently changed. Anyone else out there had a similar experience? Is this a result of the DAC or the recording itself. or too much fun in the 1970's??

WMP is really WMA (sorry about that) which is a windows media file.
I get the wrong stream status message when going from a 16/44 file to a 24/96 file and vice versa.
I also continue to get the engine 3 stopped working error when the gui disappears in unattended, if I immediately "alt/p" the file plays. Using task manager, used memory is 1.33 gigs so I don't think its a memory issue.
As others have reported, the sound quality is wonderful!

Also, still trouble switching between files of different bit rates in the same playlist. A "Wrong stream status" message now appears. You know if xx could play WMP files I wouldn't have to convert them to 24/96 wave files when they get included in playlists. I've found that converting 192 kbps wmp file to a 24/96 wave file substantially improves the sound of the file. Wishful thinking I'm sure....
