Ultimate Audio Playback / Your questions about the PC -> DAC route / Re: Anyone know about this NOS dac or the guy who makes it?

Thanks Pedal, you took the words right out of my mouth. Of course Peter's dac, being perhaps the best on the globe, is really rather cheap when compared to something like the Trinity dac which costs about 15 thousand, but that doesn't help me. I'm always on the lookout for a descent NOS dac that I can afford, and that will play high rez stuff. There just don't seem to be too many out there.........If the Audio Mirror dac doesn't downsample high rez, I might give it an audition. We'll see.......

Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: With a track playing, don't shut down too fast....

Hi Peter. I've spent an hour trying to replicate this and no luck. Unfortunately I don't remember the exact file that was playing, but I have tried both 16/44 and 24/96 material. With each attempt I selected two tracks (same sample rate) with the last 10-20 seconds of the first track played first. I use XX daily and have never had a glitch like that before. I guess one can't know if it was a problem with the track or a hicup with the program or a general hicup with my particular system........very frustrating given the likelihood, but not certainty, it is a problem with my setup....... Wish I had better news.

Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / With a track playing, don't shut down too fast....

Yesterday I was in a hurry to leave the house and as a track was ending hit alt/x to bring up the gui, once it was up and the music was still fading, I hit the stop button. This sequence resulted in an explosion of static. I am glad my finger was on the power switch of the amp when it happened.
On football, CONGRATULATIONS. Hope next round goes well too!

Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / 9z-2 gui not appearing issue
|
on: June 27, 2010, 12:58:39 pm
|
With all 9z versions, including 2, the gui very occasionally fails to appear when I use the alt/x command during unattended playback. The taskbar will reappear and XX will appear in the taskbar, music will continue to play, but the gui will not appear. Sometimes I can right click on XX in the task bar and hit close, then hit alt/x again and the gui will reappear, but usually this won't work and I have to reboot to get the gui back. (Don't know if the gui would reappear if I just let the playlist finish, will find out next time it happens.) Since I'm the only one who has reported this problem I'm beginning to assume it's my system not having sufficient resources. Anyone else out there had this happen?
