and degrade the life of the capacitors.
Peter, You also said something in the release note's about these capasitors and there lifetime when they do not have enough cooling space. Since i do not now anything about them can you please tell a bit more? How long do they life do you think and what will happen when they are warn out. Just suddenly no sound anymore? And do we have to replace those after a few years to avoid further damage when one dies??

Peter, I think that second period you talked about has started. I did not have much time to listen last two day's but i had the pc playing continualy. So a extra 48 hours has given to the NOS1. Something really changed for the better!! So diffucult to point out what it is. It sure does sound more emotional more body. I played Scooby Snacks from the Fun lovin Criminals from a special dutch recording from Jan Douwe Kroeske his 2 meter sessies. Playing that track i heard that the cymbals sound more realistic more metal... I am sure that was not here before... hmmmm Since the cymbals made such a improvement i choose some guitar play and choose Tommy Emmanual - Endless Road album. His guitar play sound more realistic in a way. You can hear him pulling and touching the strings so beautifull. Eva Cassidy sounds even more pure than she allready did. So there will more of these steps?? Unbelievable..... EDIT: Really what we have been listening to was "nothing" compared to what is coming out the speakers now. This i could not have guessed!

Maybe a good idear to do both? Meaning 16/44.1 and 24/192. It is just a little more extra time ( I think ) When Peter comes up with 768 maybe you prefer it over 24/192 than you need to start all over again. Yesterday I started my quest to digitise all my vinyl records. The idea is to firstly thoroughly clean (using 'Disc Doctor' liquid and a Loricraft cleaning machine) and then record 7 records per week. I have ~5000 records, so it's gonna take me a while!
I've spent the weekend comparing various formats because I want to choose a single consistent format for all the files. The size of the files isn't really important as I have a large NAS, and can easily increase the capacity when needed. One consideration though is the ability to stream these files wirelessly around the house - my current wireless router just about handles 16/44.1 OK.
But my main criterion is of course SQ with the NOS1. To this end, I've been listening and comparing various recorded formats through the NOS1 and comparing to the original vinyl. And I've decided to go for 24/192 files. Through the NOS1, these sound indistinguishable from the original vinyl. With these files, the NOS1 and the Model Two sound pretty much identical.
But there is one interesting thing that I discovered. It is 'better' to play these 24/192 files natively through the NOS1, i.e. with no DAP to take them to 24/384. If DAP is applied, the sound gets brighter and looses some of it's bottom end weight.
So, just to conclude: vinyl = NOS1 (at 24/192 with no upsampling) = Model Two (at 24/192 with no upsampling)... with these 24/192 files.
I'm absolutley over the moon with the sound I'm getting from the NOS1 playing these files back.
Mani.

Pedal, Then really sorry i misread what you have written. Please take my post for not written. Ok i will be reading this with much interest! And really Pedal i can not look into your agenda or have something to say about that but it was a bit.... Well you now. Me shutting up now! Hi Gerard, I didn't understand your writing 100% but I believe it was all in the best meaning! (The price we pay when both writes in a non-native language). This is a very interesting thread for me. As a contributing writer to the Scandinavian magazine FIDELITY, I have done quite a lot of research while working on a lengthy Hi-rez feature article. For that reason I have something to bring to the table, while also picking up new things and ideas from fellow enthusiasts here at the forum. Roy and I have a parallell dialog in private, since sharing files is not a public topic, even if it is only for the purpose of "research and testing", he-he. All the best!

But Pedal did you compared those to the normal 16/44 version or the mfsl version. (with ARC) Frankly I didn't spend too much time going backwards listening/re-listening on everything. Too little time, too much music and too many plans in order to cover everything! Sorry guy's to interrupt. I really read this with much intrest and Pedal came up with some nice figures! which i do not undersand but Peter and Roy may. Pedal not to offend you but Roy offered you something and now i have the feeling you retreat. You can atleast accept them and make such figures when you have a bit of time. Please do not get me wrong but i really dont want his topic to be over! It is very intereseting! Gerard No worry Gerard he (we) will, (PM) I completly trust his experience on this, but i need to upload the albums first, haha Low-pass filtering means: It will let thru the lower frequencies up till 20Khz, above that all is filtered. While the 16/44 should run to 100Khz theoraticly (well short story) Roy

All, I like to tell you all what i experienced the first day's! The first day is allready written in this post. But i like to tell you about the second and third day. WHERE IS THE WOW FEELING. Really i kept on putting cd after cd looking for it. It was gone. Did not change anything!! At this moment it is back the WOW feeling\hearing. Man what a relief. It has something to do with the details i think. Now playing at low volume they are there. And the second and third day they where not. I am not sure if i really heard them the first day. Was it something psychological? Does not matter anymore the feeling is back and that is for me the most important thing!!! PS: The only one using the volume now is me and not my girlfriend! hahaha who would have thought that.

Peter, Just tried it with Vista. No problem there. So back to W7 there again only one channel. So i did a reinstall of the Juli@ driver. After that again no sound on one channel. So i tried XX on the SSD and not the one on Ramdisk. That one worked!! After deleting XX on Ramdisk and put a fresh one on it there was no problem!

Peter, I have something strange going on. You now the moment that i had you on the phone about one speaker not working. You said that the first switch needed to be set to on (down) And that the MON setting must be on. Well if i would like to play 352800 the only way i can make it work is if i push the switch OFF (Up) I think it works on 352800. There are no message's that it do not. So set the switch to on i can play but only one speaker is giving sound. No matter what i do with Julia. I have IS Phasure NOS1 384 set to on. Also tried it with off. EDIT: It happened after i tried foobar. Pushed XX off and than switch to up and tried to play with foobar witch i could not get to work. After that switch down does not work.

Must be set to 512 (and Q1 = 1).
Btw, notice that this settings is just my former setting for Special Mode. I know I can go lower now, but don't want to compare apples with oranges at this time.
Peter
Yes i understand that it is your Special Mode setting. I just wanted to be sure that the buffer size must be the same as the latency on the soundcard. And than offcourse play with Q1 setting. Never could play SM so it's a bit confussing. Tried to read the tooltips but that made it not clear to me.
