106  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Mainly want to say hi again... on: August 26, 2011, 08:07:22 am
Hiyall

Been on hiatus from upgrading/following xxhe while I've been courting, traveling, and staying with my now fiancee for the last two years.  But we're finally going to find ourselves in one place here in Oceanside California.  I can't remember what xxhe ver I've been listening to, but suffice it to say I've been using an old one.  but

my SSD HD took a dump and I'm starting to get around to setting up Windows again on spinning drive.

I installed a Win 7 pro that I've had lying around since release but never installed over my Vista pro ...  did all the updates for it and then,,, see this thread.  I still don't have lots of time as I move her in and work, but

should I go back and just install Win 7 pro with no updates or .. what's up ,,, can anyone link all the myriad number of steps I need to follow, or should I just go ahead with a completely updated win 7 and get xxhe up and running again and worry about the year worth of tweaking of windows 7 I have ahead of me... hehe anyway
hi

This would be nice ... if it doesn't hurt.
108  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: 'No tracks given' error on: April 02, 2010, 10:55:43 pm
Welp... finally got 9y-8c to work.  But I don't really know how.  I reinstalled it a couple of times...  I kept playing and stopping it... went back and forth between eng 3 and eng 4... then magically eng 3 started making music.. now I'm trying to find settings for eng 4 special to work correctly, but I'm not finding it with the FF800 settings buffer sizes and XXHE settings buffer sizes.  I just now tried Adaptive mode, and it works with 128 buffer for FF800 and 128 buffer for XXHE.
109  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: 'No tracks given' error on: April 02, 2010, 09:31:43 pm
I just went from 9y-6 (which plays eng 3 "perfectly") to 9y-8 & 9y-8c and I'm getting the "No Track Given" window and then a "No Track Found" window, and no sound. Both with eng 3 & eng 4 using 9Y-8c
110  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: volume control on: January 07, 2010, 09:28:45 pm
The volume control works great for me!  I understand it is set up for ultimate SQ protection.  I always play in unattended and use Autohotkeys.  I do take a bit of care/time and wait for the volume to indicate changes via the wallpaper vol indication... no problem for me, I'm always within only a couple up or down changes... probably don't need to wait... but then again... I never seem to have problems with XXHE.

Hohoho. Merry Christmas XXHE golden ears. I've been vacationin in Oragon. Bbrrr why we left warm san diego to freeze our butts off here has been a main topic that's kept us laughing all week. We did get to play a bit in this stuff the locals refer to as snow. We are planning next years vacation now ... Mazatlan.

XXHighEnd tells everyone that the number one priority is SQ ... anything else is icing on the cake.

Phasure is an excellent domain name because phase is an important part of what I think this player holds true to: Whether it's keeping true to the digits or using the Qs to dial it in.

I've had W7 sitting on my shelve for since Monday now .... but I'm too scared to change 'perfection'.  Ah ignorance is bliss.  But the devil inside me says ... 'but, but... try it...'

PS
I think AUDIODIDAKT is the devil speaking inside my head... out, demon out.

And SeVeReD how is progress on W7 install ?

Hi guys,
I'm still alive and checking the boards here even though I've been quiet.  I haven't setup W7 yet.  Will do when I get more time ... which is being taken up by a new flame.  I must say, part of why I think she's falling for me is my stereo, hehe... now thats a twist I like.  ahh and she likes it loud.  XXHE for the win or she'd be running for the volume knob.

This Vista user gets his W7 sometime next week,,, it's shipping out Monday.  We'll see if I jump on switching over quickly though; with everything running so smoothly and fine with my Peter [ http://www.phasure.com/index.php?topic=548.msg3933#msg3933 ] tweaked Vista I don't know why I'm changing ... but we'll see at some point.

still blown away with my 44.1 material
wow, just wow double arc sampling
listening to a new album for me old album; stanley clark, jean luc ponty, al diemeola ... what fun live sounding music.
also an old 1976 Lee Ritenour album First Course ... poppy funky jazz stuff that just bounces.  yea!

Thanks, Peter
#1 is fixed.
#2 is bizarrely difficult.  I think that you require an Album to be a Folder.  I have folders by Album Artist with all Albums.  The only way to make that work is selecting by individual track (Individual Album is grayed out).
I have Undemoed and will just wait another year or so to see where you have gotten to - it is a lovely work of passion and commitment.  Thank you.
Peter

Hang in there PNCD.  It's not too difficult to set up 'Galleries' which is what I think you'll want to do.  I'll try to help as I have time too.  Can you give an example of how you have your folders/files set up?  For example my folder structure is set up as either of the following:

Rock (folder) > Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon (folder) > (music & picture files ... usually a wav/cue & jpg files)
,,, or ,,,,
Rock (folder) > Pink Floyd (folder) > Dark Side of the Moon (folder) > (music & picture files).
,,,or,,, lately
Rock (folder) > Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon (folder) > (music files) & Image (folder) > jpg files

I know others have different structures... I just didn't understand what you were saying above how you have them organized.
120  Ultimate Audio Playback / Your thoughts about the Sound Quality / Re: 0.9y-4 - w00t on: October 12, 2009, 01:56:38 am
Holy shamoly, Batman! Today was a wet day where I live, so I finally learned how to install and use hotkeys and upgraded to version 0.9y-4.  Using a Wavelength Brick (16/44 NOS), I cannot take advantage of the upsampling, but just out of the box this sounds better than any previous version.  Just played a little Kip Hanrahan  I have played easily over 100 times and was floored by the detail I was hearing and the vocals are to die for.  Trained the wheel button on my mouse to do ALT +X so I can come back from unattended without the keyboard at my chair (the mouse and screen are by my chair).  Thanks Peter.

Yea for you; hot keys isn't too hard eh?  Sure is worth figuring out for the SQ unattended brings.  Are you going to have Gordon upgrade the Brick to 24/96?  Since it is NOS it would be interesting to hear how it does with double arc prediction.
